Squidoo Hopping--Original Photos

This week I would like for you to share lenses that you have built where you use your own original photos within the lens.

Maybe you've made a lens all about your town, or a vacation you took.  Maybe you've reviewed a book or a toy, or something else.  Maybe it's the flowers and plants in your yard.  Maybe it's your about me lens with photos of yourself and your family.  Maybe it's a lens about your pets.  Whatever they are, please pick one or 2 to share below.

For those of you that are new, you will hit the spot where it has the little blue frog face and the words add your link.  It will then pop down where you will put in the url to the lens, the title, and your email.  From there it will take you to a page where you choose the picture you want in the list.

Squidoo Hopping--Have You Learned Something New This Week?

I don't think that I specifically learned anything new this week.  I'm still fighting to figure out about photo attribution and what photos are ok to share.

Here is what I need an answer to please----if I see a photo on a regular website (not flickr etc) how do I find out if I can share it?  Sometimes the person that wrote the page will have a photo attribution that I could copy.  Most of the time there isn't anything saying where they got the photo from.  I've tried right clicking for properties, but it doing so tells me anything about the photo for attribution I'm not seeing it.

I'm having a hard time even finding photos that I want on flickr that aren't All Rights Reserved meaning I can't share them without the specific consent of the person who took it.  That's fine, as most would probably allow me to use them in lenses.....however, I want the photo NOW, not wait until I get approval.  In those cases I have removed the photo I had and added a flickr module.

I've still been busy updating lenses here and there and have built at least one new one since last weeks post.  I have one more to build and then to update my lensography before I apply for Giant Squid 50.  Wish me luck!  I'm still working on getting in to update the This Day in History lenses for citings and attributions.  I have to complete what I have built already before building any new ones.

I also have quite a few more lenses to do updates on before getting them a page in my new alphabetical notebook.  It's been great though being this active with squidoo.  I look forward to May's payday to see how I do, but mostly waiting for June's payday to see if my work is paying off.  I didn't start the updating until later in March when Virginia put up her challenge.

Homeschool Journal--More Pictures from England!

It still feels like a whirlwind since picking Jasmine up at the airport last Wednesday evening.  The public school here was still on spring break.  We didn't have any intention of getting back to book work anyway.  She was full of stories to tell us of her adventures and things she learned.  She still thinks of something each day  :)

I need to do some figuring in her time book.  How many hours per day of history do I want to count?  She tells me lots because they were go go go go from the time they got up in the morning until they went to bed at night.   I'm thinking 7 hours per day will be good.  I will also be adding PE time to the books for all the walking that they did.

I've not done my journal post the past couple of weeks.  Our lives have been a whirlwind!
Jasmine left for England March 20th, and comes home tomorrow evening.
I am sharing the photos today that the  youth minister has shared with us through facebook.  I can't wait for them to get back tomorrow so that I can see what photos she has taken and hear all about the trip!

I did manage to get one lens built this past week.    Learning About England.  It's just a start on the lens as we read and learn in the books about England.  It will grow up until my daughters trip, and once she is home I will add photos to it from her trip.

Before making the lens I asked questions in the facebook group and learned new things.  Seems I am learning more and more thanks to being a part of the group.  I had no idea you could click on the pictures in wikipedia and see if they are in the public domain or if you need to give attribution!  I don't know if you can do that on other websites.

I believe I need to make myself a life schedule.  A little off the squidoo subject, but squidoo would be part of that schedule.  A set time each day that I spend specifically working in squidoo, along with set times that I work on other websites, work on my crafts, do schoolwork with my daughter, and do housework.   This wouldn't be an easy task with all the things I do outside the house, but at least the things that are regularly done outside the home could be worked around.

Tuesday August 18

Good afternoon from a still rainy Kansas.
I woke up this morning thinking it was Wednesday. I soon realized I skipped Tuesday.
We have our bowling league meeting this evening and then next Tuesday we get to start bowling. I can't wait!

I worked on that other quilt this morning and will have to each day Tuesday through Friday....can't work on it when the gift recipient is home. I have a new squidoo lens in mind...Blankets for Christmas. Speaking of squidoo, I updated my Crafts as Gifts lens this morning. I will be hopefully building a new lens tomorrow, the first of the 8 I will be doing during the 8 weeks of Rocket Moms.

Yesterday Walgreen's photo special was 25 prints for .25. I did that special...I plan on getting more and more photos done, buying an album and that being Christmas for my mother. She used to take tons of photos but hasn't now for years. I cashed out some of my coke rewards points for a $5 Walgreens photo card.
Today's Walgreens special in photos is a free poster using the code FREEPOSTER. I ordered a copy of the 5 Kittens In A Row . I plan on giving that to my 18 yr. old for Christmas.
For now I am out of paypal so I won't be able to take advantage of Walgreen's other photo specials this week. My store doesn't offer pick up for online orders so I have to pay shipping.

Tuesday June 16

Good Morning!
Last night I was playing at winster.com and had 4 spins left and had just spun the last winnie I needed for a jackpot when the tornado sirens went off. I unplugged the laptop from the power, cashed in my jackpot, and spun my last 4 spins....then we lost electricity. Good thing for the light of the laptop as we searched all around for any candles we could find. We didn't get power back until after midnight...and I wasn't smart enough to turn off the light switches, so about the time I was finally able to get to sleep.....BAM! all the lights come on LOL

I am about to head out to sewing club. I must remember to grab my camera on the way out the door to get some photos.

Looks like now possibly they will start the work on mom's bathroom tomorrow...I sure hope so! I'm glad it wasn't today since I will be 10-3 at sewing club and no one else was comfortable about staying at Starla and Steve's without me there (well, other than Jasmine)

I better run and get a few more things done before leaving (can't take the laptop with me, already tried twice and no wireless connections available from my church at all)

Tuesday June 2

Good Morning! I wanted to get a post in today before another long day starts.

Yesterday was a big day! Up early to take my daughter to the hospital to have the baby. I have the following post and videos on gather so far and more to share today. 11:05 am 8 lb 12 oz New Born Jacob Alexander 6/1/09 and Newborn Jacob with Mommy.

I'm heading up now to take my bath, then I need to take my son to Wendy's to talk to his boss. After that it's back to the hospital to be with Elizabeth and Jacob. I think Chris was going back to work today. They are doing the circumcision today..probably it's already done.

I miss Jasmine terribly while she is at camp!! And, I'm sad to think she is also going next year. Yes, I need to let go and let her be a kid, make more friends and have a good time. I'm hoping Steve and I can go to the movies tonight. I have 2 free passes and I want to see the new Night at the Museum at the Smithsonian.

I better be off and running. I should be able to be home most of tomorrow and on through the rest of the week, but we have very few days left to get more things found and prices for the yard sale coming up this Saturday.

Wednesday April 29

Gosh, I've been doing so many things all at once this morning I am just now getting to writing my blog for the day.
It's still raining outside. I had hoped it would clear up. I've bought 4 tomato plants, 2 strawberry plants, 1 banana pepper plant, 4 green bean plants, and 4 bell pepper plants that I was really hoping to get planted today.

I started out my morning by writing a very long post on gather about yesterday. I won't type it in here for sure, but if you are interested please visit What Are the Odds.....
I plan on putting in all photos and videos that I have stored on my computer to gather that aren't already there today if I find the time. At least that way they won't be lost!

I know I updated a few squidoo lenses, but the way my mind is working right now I don't know which ones LOL

Tonight is the last night and awards night at Awanas. Jasmine is sad that it's over for the year....I am too.

It's just after noon now so I am going to get this posted. Have a great Wednesday!

Monday April 27

Good Morning! It's been one rainy weekend here and it doesn't look like it's ready to let up yet.
Jasmine and I had a good time spending Saturday evening with Steve. We started out having bbq chicken, mac and cheese, green beans and rolls for supper. Then, we watched 2 movies.
Church was nice yesterday morning, I even got my oldest daughter and the grandkids there. One of our new members is building us a church website. Because the church is not the building, but the people, he brought his equipment and took a photo of all who were at the service yesterday. That will be the main photo on our website.
After church I put supper in the crockpot, but oops...forgot to turn the crockpot on! We did get to eat but just later in the evening than usual. Oh well, it all worked out in the end.

Today is my moderate cleaning day upstairs and I've decided to work a bit on here, clean up there and back and forth until it's done upstairs. I also want to get up to Walgreens today for my weekly shopping there. Also in hopes while up north there I can stop into the large grocery with the greenhouse and get some plants and things to get my garden going.

Saturday April 25

Good morning! I've been booking along this morning working on all kinds of things...realized it's 11 am and I hadn't typed my blog yet!
I had so much fun last night at the dinner theater!! I really do need to get out and do more fun things like that.
That's one of the things I've been doing this morning is preparing my photos and videos from the trip to share on gather. Those and some from the night before at my grandson's Spring program.

Today is yet another short internet day as we've promised Steve to go spend the evening at his house. Not sure what we will do, probably bbq and watch a movie.

I've still working this morning yet on getting my blujay items in rotation on reallysmartdeals. I'm almost done!

I came home late last night but check wordlinx as I was so close to payout. Clicked the ads then got instant payout to paypal. This is another of the really good and reliable paid to clicks. If you aren't a member I hope you will check it out.


I'm going to close for now. I won't be on the computer tomorrow until the afternoon after church.

Sunday April 19

Good Morning. I slept later than I wanted to, but still up in time to get a few things done before church.
It's been pretty rainy here the last couple of days...so much again that once again the driveway is flooded half way up. I can't begin to tell you how thankful that the roof is done and we no longer have to worry about those leaks!

I think I will just relax mostly today...it is my "free day" in my basic weekly plan. I have a review for gather that I need to get done. Yesterday I think I did 5 posts! One of them was my Mail Call! Week of April 12 Another was my t-shirt win on mycoolcontests

I stayed busy yesterday for sure. I had roasts in the crockpot for supper. Steve didn't call me. I suppose I will call him just to see what is up since today marks 2 weeks since we've even talked to each other. For now I better close for the day, still have children to get ready.

Monday March 2

ugh...it's Monday again. Those darn sleep alarms kept going off and off again until finally I realized Allen only had 15 minutes to get dressed and off to school for breakfast. Next week is spring break but I can't wait for summer to not have to worry about this getting up so early!
It's supposed to warm up a bit more today than yesterday, but right now it's 15º out is all.

I got really busy going through my gmail yesterday but I still have over 4500 emails to clear it out and then with any good fortune figure out how to keep up with it each day. I also got really busy with gather, I posted 9 videos, 1 photo essay and 2 posts! I got to work it as much as I can each day and get that laptop earned!

Sunday March 1

March is here...come on and march in spring! It's no spring weather here today in Kansas. Current temp is 20 then says it feels like 9. I believe it!
Our cat, Nymphadora is in the process of having her kittens. I am taking photos as each is born, which I will share in a photo essay.
I took quite a few photos and videos at the bowling banquet last night. That was fun.
It's been a pretty lazy day all the way around. I am doing more messing than anything else.

I'm going to be busy putting in all the videos and photos that I can in to gather. I also still have to update the unschooling journey squidoo lens and choose another lens to update as well.

On that note, since it's late in the afternoon, I will close today's posting for now. Have a great Sunday :)

Saturday February 28

Here we are to the end of February. Let's hope March brings on Spring! We did get that snow they called for last night but very little. Today's high is only 30, but it goes up to 70 by Tuesday.
We survived the busy day yesterday. I did find out that there is gas getting into the oil in the van. Something that now needs to be taken care of before I bother changing the oil and filter. (sigh)
My aunt and uncle headed out this morning after bringing by some of the photos they took this week.

This evening I am going out with Steve to a bowling dinner and party. I want to go, but then again after the busy busy week I really just want to stay home and relax. Alas, the tickets are bought.

Another Busy Day!!

It's Friday, but it's yet another busy day. Here soon I have to take my mom to the doctor. After that I need to make a grocery store run. It's family fun night at church this evening. We are doing dinner and a movie. Everyone is to bring a dish to share and I've decided to make and take potato salad.
My aunt and uncle will be over here this afternoon to share with us their photos from their African safari. Guess that's a good time to work on the potato salad when I will already be upstairs while they visit LOL

It went and got cold outside! It's only 15 degrees right now...yuck! They are calling for snow after midnight! I knew the spring like weather was too good to last.

Thursday February 19

Good Morning! Yesterday seemed super cold because the wind was blowing so hard. So far this morning it's cold out but just a breeze...makes a big difference on how cold I feel.
I ended up not only taking the girls to Awanas yesterday evening but taking my daughter and granddaughters to the health dept to get signed up for WIC..that was an unexpected 2 hours away from home. The only place I should have to go today is to take my mom to the doctor.
I still have most of my housework to do yet this morning, which includes sorting and putting away 4 loads of laundry!

I need to get busy and get more posting done on gather other than my usual 2 posts that I do each day. I have several photos on my camera to share.
It boils down to me trying to do way too many thing both online and offline!

How about an early start to the weekend? There is no school here tomorrow for an inservice day for the teachers. wahoo!! that means I can sleep in a bit in the morning!

Monday February 16

Good Morning, almost noon! It wasn't until about supper time last night that I realized I hadn't typed in my daily blog.
Valentines day went well. Steve took me out to dinner, then we watched a movie, and he bought me a quilt mat.
Yesterday was just a strange day...I did a lot online, but not near the things that I usually do.

I got the van back. He insists he really needs to give me my money back but to drive it a bit longer while it's running since I need transportation. Who knows...I want to keep it and try to figure out how to replace the rod since the body and interior are in great shape.

Wednesday January 7

good morning!
I got called in to work yesterday...as you recall, I quit with my last day being December 18 right before the Christmas/New Year's break. So much for that, they begged. gggrrrrr I need to learn how to say no! Needless to say I didn't remember until I was in bed last night that I didn't do a post here once I was home from work. I am about to head out for work today, but did want to post.

In case you are wondering, my computer did go completely down due to that Rogue fake anti virus virus. I lost everything. I am currently using my son's computer, which is wonderful of him to let me do so that I can continue to earn! I can't figure out why it won't let me upload photos on gather. Hopefully they can help me figure it out.

Nothing else much going on. I was still able to get quite a bit done on the computer in between work and bowling last night, but sure didn't get much email done. I sure hope they don't think they can just call me all the time, that is definately not in my plans! If I wanted to work I wouldn't have quit in the first place!

Friday January 2

Good Morning, almost afternoon. I started out with my cleaning, but unexpectedly had to take my son to the dentist. This afternoon will be spent running my mother around for her SS payday.
I've been fighting a lot of trojans on my computer, which is really slowing me down on what I need to get done online to earn money. It's not good!!

It's Friday and I can't believe it. Christmas break is over and Allen goes back to school on Monday, but I don't go back to work. I'm not ready to have to start getting up so early in the morning again.
