Squidoo Hopping 6/27/13--Check Inside!

Good Thursday lensmasters!

There are a few things I want to talk about this week.
I'm still having trouble "getting into" squidoo.   I've been in and out, returned a few comments, looked at other lenses-----didn't update even one of my own.  I keep saying life will slow down and I can concentrate more on my online ventures......it's not happened yet.

So far none of my lenses are flagged, or locked.   I did read a post on bubblews though saying that bubblews has been black listed by squidoo.   You know what I have to say to that??  BOO!!
When I thought gather was going to be gone, I planned on taking what I had from gather linked in my lenses, post those things over to bubblews then switch out the links.
I did save a bunch of stuff to word and in my pictures, but had only gotten on thing written on bubblews.  I had switched out that link on the one lens in one list.
I now know that once I go to update that lens again, it won't publish unless I take that one link out.  ggrrrrr    why do things have to be so difficult?

I also want to tell you about Ruth's new facebook group for lensmasters as well.   You can find the group here: Squidink Gone Postal
Here is what the group is about:
SQUIDINK gone POSTAL is on a positive mission! Our vision is to see Squidoo lensmasters go postal!

We want to see SQUIDINK postcard lenses, postcards through Squidoo Postcard publications, your own personally designed postcards, and SQUIDINK postcard exchange via snailmail.

If you love Squidoo and Postcards, come join the SQUIDINK fun!

*****

You DO have to be an active member of the Squidoo community to join this group.

Do NOT exchange mailing address through the group. Please do so privately for security purposes.

Please do NOT add members to the group. Many, myself included do not care to be automatically added to groups. DO invite all your Squidoo friends to check out the group and join!

DO share Squidoo lenses that have to do with the topic of postcards.

DO share your own postcard creations, such as those you create in Zazzle and CafePress. However, please limit these shares to 1 per day.

Please do NOT just drop links and run. We want you to share your links but more importantly we want you to enlighten us as to why you are sharing the link.

Ruth is working hard to put this group together.  It's going to be fun and productive!
Here is even the lens she built about the group.   (I will also add the lens to the linky as well)
Squidink Gone Postal

My big news this week is my newest grandbaby  :)  No, I can't help but share a picture here too!
Meet Killian Von  born 6/26/13 at 6:24 am.  Weighing 7 lb 5 oz and 19 1/2 inches long.

Now for the linky!

Eco Orbies--What Fun!

For the past couple of years, I have seen these little balls at the state fair.  I wanted some.  How cool that you put them in water and they expand.  The ones I've seen at the fair are not Eco Orbies.  In fact, they don't last like Eco Orbies.

I was thrilled to receive 2 packages of Eco Orbies for the purpose of my review.  As much as I was thrilled to get them, I think my teenage daughter and my grandson were even more thrilled.   They had loads of fun taking photos and doing different things with the Eco Orbies, even making a video commercial which I will share at the end of my review.

My Eco-Orbies came in 2 tiny zip-lock type baggies.  Oh so tiny!  Here is one of them in the palm of my hand:
I didn't count how many were in the bag but it has to be around 50, if not more.   I wish I had counted as I was just amazed.

I rec'd a packet of blue and a packet of red.  Here the are soaking in the bowls to expand:
Amazing!  Each of the tiny bags contained enough to almost fill each cereal bowl we used to hydrate them.

Before I show you the rest of our photos, I want to tell you all about the Eco Orbies.

To expand the orbies you soak the contents of the baggie in 2 cups of water for 6-8 hours.  Drain off any excess water and rinse them.   Colors can be layered and the colors will not transfer or bleed.

To dry the orbies when you aren't using them, simply place them to air dry in a single layer.  This will take 3-5 days.  It's recommended to use a cookie sheet lines with wax paper for drying them.  Place them back in the baggie and store them out of direct sunlight.  Dry Eco Orbies will last 15-20 years!   Simply soak them again each time you want to use them.

Eco Orbies will fit even into the tiniest of vase openings.  You can hydrate them right in the vase too if necessary.   They can be mixed with the soil of your outdoor or indoor houseplants and will release moisture as the plants require.  They will pull bacteria away from the plant giving you a healthier and hardier plant.

You can grow most all plants in them  and even start seeds such as Wheatgrass and Indoor Herb Gardens.  They can be used over and over again, just add more water.  They will not discolor the water or bleed.

After a month or tow your orbies will shrink down as they release the moisture to your plants or fresh cut flowers.  Just rehydrate them!

If you want your Eco Orbies scented just add a few drops of essential oil, or even perfume to fully hydrated Eco Orbies and you will have a wonderful light scent in any room of your house.  When they shrink, you can rehydrate them and add a different scent if you choose.

Eco Orbies can be used with soil for all outdoor or indoor house plants, growing wheatgrrass, transplanting trees and shrubs, cuttings, garden vegetables, farming and agriculture.   You can even use them for a relaxing hand or foot massage!

Eco Orbies are non-toxic and environmentally safe.  You can light them up with submersible LED lights.   Each 5 gm packet makes about 2 cups.

The kids liked the idea of the submersible LED lighting.  Since we don't have any of those, they experiments on what the orbies would look like lit up but putting them in a glass and shining a flashlight through the bottom.

Ok....my grandson is having too much fun running his fingers through the hydrated Eco Orbies.

Beautifying my vase of artificial flowers.

And here is their commerical  :)

I can't wait until I am able to order more of the Eco Orbies! They have so many different colors available.
You will want to like their facebook fan page. There are going to be some specials coming up in the month of August, and I'm sure more to come. Don't miss out! Eco Orbies Facebook Fan Page

Find their homepage HERE.

Here is another review with some awesome photos that you will want to check out: Eco-Orbies Review

Disclaimer: I rec'd 2 packages of Eco Orbies for the purpose of my review. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions are my own.

Squidoo Hopping--Let's Talk About the Facebook Groups

Today let's chat about all the different groups on facebook for squidoo.  There are a lot of them!  I belong to several and still see more on the side of my page that I could join.

Have I joined too many?  Probably so!  Do I post to them all?  No, I don't.  Do some people post the same things to every single group?  Yes!  LOL

Most days I feel that squidoo has taken over my life.  I would say that 75% of my time online is with squidoo.  I'm not saying that is a bad thing, especially if I can start making some real money.  However, what if I don't?  Sure, the socializing is good.  I'm seeing lots of lenses of interest.......but also viewing lots of lenses I wouldn't too, just for the sake of giving out some "love".    I also try to return comments, but I am behind on that.

Two groups that I am in have daily threads, one for new lenses and one for updated lenses.  Those groups are: Post a Squidoo Lens Here   and Squidoo Facebook CommunityI do try to list one of the lenses that I update each day, but no more.  Some list every lens they update.  When I do list one, I also go through the previous comments viewing others updated lenses.  That is the only fair way to do it.   The same goes if I happen to build a new lens, which, if I am lucky, is one a week.

One group that I am in is owned by Poutine.  I've known her online through squidoo and also through gather.com.  I joined her group because I consider her to be my friend.  She is a very helpful gal.  However, it seems about all I post to her group is the link to this blog post each week.  (Poutine---comment today on other things you would like to see posted to your group please).  Her group is Squidoo for all.

I've joined the Ask a Squidoo Expert group so that I can do that.  There's so many questions about squidoo.  I've already asked several.  I've gotten good answers and I've learned.

Then we have Squidoo Visits and Posts.   In this group you list 5 of your lenses each day....AFTER you have visited at least 5 others that have been posted by others.  They also ask that you give extra love to the lenses that you visit by pinning it, liking it on facebook, clicking on an outlink, or buying a product if you see something of interest.   I so love this concept!   I don't however, do it every single day.   I do try to though.  I also visit at least 10 others instead of 5 as well.  Mostly I click an outlink, but have pinned if it's a recipe or craft I want to try.  Fun fun!

How about Squids who Blogs.   Just as the name says, share your blogs here, whether you blog about squidoo or not.  So far I've only posted the link to this blog post, but will start also posting when I have a giveaway too.

Forgive me, but I don't remember who started Spotted Squids but it is the first facebook group that I joined for squidoo.  About says:  If you use Squidoo and want to gain more exposure for your work, network with other Squids, and you've got a friendly spirit, then you're a Spotted Squid. Feel free to invite friends, share links to your lenses, tell us about Squidoo related blogs, groups, or pages (including yours). You're also invited to share pictures of picnics, parties, and other fun events where you meet with Squids. This is a great place to tell everyone about Open Mike on BlogTalk Radio too. If you've got ideas for the group, share away!  I need to start spending more time in this group.

Last but not least is Squidoo Angels.  I have not participated in this group at all....well, until just now I put in a couple of comments.

So, with all of this said (typed), I have made myself a goal.  I am going to visit each group at least once a day to see what's happening.   I look forward to your comments on the groups too.   I also, as every week, look forward to you linking up here.   This week I am linking up my 2 newest lenses which are both book reviews.   Thanks!!

Squidoo Hopping--Come on In and Link Up Your Lenses

Happy Hopping Thursday!

I did manage to get one lens built this past week.    Learning About England.  It's just a start on the lens as we read and learn in the books about England.  It will grow up until my daughters trip, and once she is home I will add photos to it from her trip.

Before making the lens I asked questions in the facebook group and learned new things.  Seems I am learning more and more thanks to being a part of the group.  I had no idea you could click on the pictures in wikipedia and see if they are in the public domain or if you need to give attribution!  I don't know if you can do that on other websites.

I believe I need to make myself a life schedule.  A little off the squidoo subject, but squidoo would be part of that schedule.  A set time each day that I spend specifically working in squidoo, along with set times that I work on other websites, work on my crafts, do schoolwork with my daughter, and do housework.   This wouldn't be an easy task with all the things I do outside the house, but at least the things that are regularly done outside the home could be worked around.

I hope to see many blog posts and lenses linked up below.  Seriously, keep me busy hopping from my blog!

One of my lucky blog winners will win a set of 50 custom made brochures courtesy of UPrinting. See full details at the bottom of this post.

I am very happy to be working with UPrinting once again. I have been very satisfied with all the products I already have received from them---stickers, night club flyers and postcards.
I highly recommend UPrinting for the high quality work. I also recommend them for their customer service. I have had great experiences with the customer service. On one order, they called me when my design wasn't going to be right for the product (wrong size). On another occasion I called them for help on making my design the right size. The customer service representative was very helpful, fixed my design and mailed it to me so that I could proceed with my order. Yes, I highly recommend UPrinting for all your printing needs. They have an awesome selection of products.

Makes and Takes for Kids 50 crafts throughout the year

With 5 grandchildren living with us between the ages of 2 and 10, I was super thrilled to be have the chance to review Make and Takes for Kids 50 crafts throughout the year!

I am a firm believer in keeping the minds of children working. A belief that they need many things to do other than watch tv, play on the computer, or play video games.

Make and Takes for Kids is filled with 50 craft projects to last throughout the year. Each month highlights 4 crafts, with February and December having 5 crafts.
All of the crafts are pretty simple, come with a photo, and clear instructions. Also included with each craft is a list of the learning objectives for that craft.

My grandkids looked through the book and have found lots of things to make. We started with making the Leaf Rubbing Turkey Feathers. I took the kids out for the walk to collect the leaves to rub. My daughter sat with all her children one evening to make the turkeys.
Below is a picture of them rubbing leaves and another photo of the 5 of them holding up their completed turkeys.

With December coming right up, I wanted to share a picture of the pages for one of the 5 crafts for December.
