WIP Wednesday Projects

I spent most of the week working on the microwave hotpads for quilt guild.  Once done with the stack of 9 that you see in the picture for quilt guild, I cut the rest of my cotton batting to make sets for sale.
I only ended up having enough for 2 sets plus 1.  I will make that one for us at home.
I chose to put the green fabrics on the top of the pile so I can also post working with green for the soscrappy blog challenge too.

The ladies at church and I are working on this baby blanket for a church member.  Oopsey, had a mistake cut.  I have it at home with me to hopefully fix it.  We will then finish it up together by tieing it.  It's been a challenge and if I remember, I will take a picture of it to share when we get it finished.

I worked on the yo-yo's for quilt guild this past week and I'm almost done with the bags.  I'm taking the advice of a few gals and only doing 25 each of the other fabrics instead of 50 that I did in the sheer fabric.  I plan to finish these up this afternoon at my Needlers group.

So many projects that I want t work on and so little time.  I must get to crocheting the Princess Anna doll before my little granddaughters birthday gets here!  That is next on my list to work on and finish before working on anything else.

WIP Wednesday 4/15/15

It's still been a struggle to find time for sewing at home.
All I did this week from home was to put together these purple 4-patches for the soscrappy challenge:

I guess I have to take that back.  Friday night was sit n' sew at the quilt shop.  I worked on my fractured pineapple quilt there, but I also worked a bit more on it the next day at home.  I'm sure pushing my time to get it done for the quilt show in July.
Yesterday was sewing club at church.  I helped some on the quilt that we are making that will go to auction to help raise money for our camp.  I also put together this small child's quilt top.
The blocks with the nursery rhymes painted on were already made and donated to us.
Here is my UFO list.  Can I finish anything this month??  Oh, I do have to finish the challenge quilt for guild as it goes up on the 27th.

WIP Wednesday 2/11/15

Not a bad week productive wise.  I finished re-doing the binding on the blue and peach quilt and have it re-listed in my zibbet shop.

I got in some work on the pink hexagons.  Pink is the color of the month for the scrappy challenge with the soscrappy blog.
No connection to the scrappy challenge, but I also finally got out the cone of pink cotton yarn that I bought almost a year ago and got started on making pink washcloths/dishcloths.  I did put one set of 2 up for sale in my etsy shop.
I put both in my photo.

Yesterday was the monthly sewing club at church. I continued working on the 4 patch tops.  This is the 3rd and last one, but it still needs one more row put on to be complete.

WIP Wednesday 10/15/14

I've still been in my sewing groove this week.  I didn't finish a thing, but at least I am working  LOL

Let's start with my 'design wall'.  I went and bought a vinyl tablecloth.  I didn't realize that the backing isn't the same as it used to be.  It's not working as well as I would like, but will work until I can get something different.
On my wall is my progress with the Charming Stars quilt with Terry's Treasures sewalong. (see button to the right)
Friday was sit n' sew at the local quilt shop.  I worked on making the lined Christmas bags that I am making for gifts this year.   I completed 7, so just 18 more to go.
I had hoped to finish the hot pads.   I did work on them and really hope to finish them this week.
Well, I took a picture, but apparently I didn't save it with a name before deleting.   I would take another picture but my camera is broken so it's hard to get the memory card in and out.

so...moving on...  I have a book to get a review done on.   I made the first project in the book, which is an envelope style pillow cover.  This is the first time I've made one and now I'm wondering why!

Just FYI  this is the book.  I will be getting the full review of it done soon.

I've been working on the brown, black, and gray hexagons for the soscrappy color challenge.  (See button at the bottom of my post)

Finally, yesterday was our monthly sewing club meeting at church where we sew for charity.
I actually ended up having enough time to sew the rows together after I took the picture.  Now the other ladies will sandwich and finish it when they have time.

Now for that UFO list.
 Rectangle quilt
challenge wall hanging
GoodNight Irene quilt/wall hanging
Yo-Yo Table runner
Emerald Island Fusique table runner
Five and Dime quilt
40 Hot Pads (22 done)
Christmas bags (total of at least 25) (9 done)
Charming Stars quilt
Brown half square triangle quilt
? sets of doll blanket, pillows and rug

WIP Wednesday 9/10/14

I think I lost last week somewhere along the way.  I've been so super busy with things outside the home.

I did make the decision to make a Halloween table topper/wall hanging with the Halloween fabrics for the orange challenge over on the soscrappy blog.  (See button at the bottom of my post)
I have a crochet order to work on, but I still hope to have this done by this time next week.

Yesterday was sewing club day at church so I worked on my larger 4 patch squares.  I can see this taking a few more months to get them all made and then put together.
This is what I came up with to sew together for a child's quilt.

Here is my UFO list although it doesn't truly include everything such as the hexagons above, or any hexagons since I'm not sure what I am going to end up doing with them.

UFO's:

Rectangle quilt
challenge wall hanging
GoodNight Irene quilt/wall hanging
Yo-Yo Table runner
Emerald Island Fusique table runner
Five and Dime quilt
34 Hot Pads
Christmas bags (total of at least 25)

Terry's Treasures has started a new sew along that I am going to take part in and need to get started on!

WIP Wednesday 6/11/14

My big WIP over the last week was still looking through things for the yard sale that we had last Saturday.
In other words, I didn't do a thing towards sewing or quilting.

That's not exactly true as I did pack up a bag of projects.  This bag has my Goodnight Irene blocks to work on, my 2nd scrappy rectangle table runner to sandwich, and my scrappy log cabin table runner to sew the binding down on.

I will work on these 3 projects this afternoon at my stitch group as well as Friday night at sit n' sew at the quilt shop.   Then I will have progress to report next week!

In the meantime, yesterday was our monthly sewing club meeting at church.
The gals gave me a simple child's top to work on.   The blocks with the Indian pictures were donated to our club by another church member.  She painted those.
I did get the top together.  Now it's up to the other gals in our club to finish it up.

Also later this month is our 2 day retreat with my quilt guild.  How many things can I get off of my list by the time the retreat is over??

WIP Wednesday 5/14/13

Life is so crazy right now!  My daughter took on a full time babysitting job.  This on top of finishing up her schoolwork to be graduated this year.
We've had one yard sale and really must have another one this Saturday.
Always the usual things that I do, but add in the extra taking Jasmine to the babysitting jobs and picking up grandkids at school.
It's surprising that I've gotten anything done and home and I have to be thankful for my times away from home to sew.

Friday was sit n' sew at the quilt shop.   It's from 6-10 pm.   I took my hexagons.
I learned my lesson that you don't work on them that long in a stretch.  I thought my thumb and my thumbnail were both going to fall off from holding down to get them stitched.
I didn't get any pieces put together, but I have 4 sets of flowers ready to put together.  They are in the bag.
Otherwise you can just look at my box and know this truly is a forever project.

Here are all of my 4 patches that will eventually be 16 patch squares for the Goodnight Irene quilt.
I'm to the point of squaring these up.   I still hope to get the 2 rows of blocks together and sewn on to catch up to what I should have done by this month.
A couple of evenings in front of the tv and computer I cut up 4 extra large t-shirts and got the middle braid started on a rug to make with them.  I'm thinking the 4 extra large shirts will make a rug all their own.   I still have another rug started in another bag as well that didn't get worked on.
I did pick up some more fabric strips to add to that bag yesterday.
Oh, that cute sewing/craft basket I picked up at a yard sale for $5.  I really bought it for the $8 cone of cotton yarn that was inside it.  I decided that cute basket is a lot better than the usual bag I have sitting by my desk while I work....decorative too.
It was also filled with other yarn and knitting supplies.  I won't use those so they are packed into a bag to put out for sale at the yard sale.
Yesterday was sewing club day at church.  After months and months of working on this quilt, I am finally to hand sewing the binding down.
Finally we are down to my current lists.  Hopefully I can check off a couple more by next Wednesday.  This is only sewing and not my rug making or other crochet and such projects.

WIP Wednesday 1/15/14

I have several projects going all at once, which is nothing unusual. What is unusual is that I have actually been working on all of them.

I joined the Goodnight Irene sew along with Terry's Treasures.  You can find the button on the right side bar and click to find out more.
I love that she is going slow with it.  Just 5 blocks each month for 5 month.  The 6th month is the border blocks and the 7th month is putting it together.
I only have 2 blocks done, but since I have all month, I'm not behind!

Yesterday was the monthly sewing club at church.  I am still working on this quilt that I am doing in quilt as you go.
I brought it home again, and again do hope to at least get the 3rd row put on of 7 before next month's meeting.

I am working on a total of 96 log cabin blocks.  I have found a pattern for a quilt with these scrappy log cabins.  I then have enough left over for 2 wall hangings.
Since taking this picture Monday night I have squared up the other 92 half square triangles for my middles and have one strip sewn onto some of those.

Last Wednesday in my needlers group I worked on my applique bunnies.  Today is Needlers group at the quilt shop.  I will be doing more work on the bunnies.  I have 3 more to embroider, but I think that today I will cut out my centers and backs.   I'm also going to put it together in the quilt as you go way.   I didn't take a picture last week since it's about the same as previous pictures.  I will probably take a picture after I work on them today.

I keep finding myself moving my sewing machine, cutting mat and ironing board into the kitchen or living room.  What I really need to do is get my craft room cleaned up so that I can work in there again.
I didn't get anymore organizing done as far as putting projects in bags, but I have had that on my mind.

WIP Wednesday--5/8/13

I didn't post last week.  I didn't have much progress, and sure not enough to warrant writing about!

I'm still moving along with the pillowcases, but only here and there.  I was able to buy the last fabric that I needed and have that last pillowcase started.  I do plan on getting it mostly done today.  It happens to be for the first grandchild's birthday of the year, which is May 28.  Then they start coming fast--the birthday's that is---June 1, June 5, July 3, August 13, August 15, August 29, September 8, November 7, and  then the last is my daughters birthday on October 9.
Means I should get this post done and move on in to my craft room and get to work.

Here is a picture I took of my progress:
Yesterday was sewing club at church, where I am still fighting away working on the quilt top that I've been working on for months!  One of the gals suggested that I go ahead and start putting some of the top together.  She said that would make me feel like I was at least getting somewhere with it.
So, here you have the top row of the middle part of the quilt:
I am still working away on my goal with making these plastic canvas coasters.  I have made over 50 of them so far and I'm still not out of that huge ball of yarn.  I hope hope hope to finish them up TODAY.  I really need to move on to other projects as I am planning on setting up to sell my crafts at the flea market June 2.

Moving along and getting back to work here, I am linking up with:

WIP Wednesday--Moving Right Along!

No, I didn't make it in to my craft room every day this week, but I did make it in there a couple of days.  That along with sit n' sew at the quilt shop and sewing club at church, I feel like I've gotten a lot done this week.

Here are the pillowcases so far.  I still have fabric to buy for one more, but they are rolling along now.
I ran into a couple of snags working on the quilt top for church, one being that a few of my rows I sewed together backwards.  Then, I thought I didn't have enough of the half square triangles so I went to work to make more.  I had enough!  I had forgotten that I already had one of the big blocks done already when I was counting.  Sheesh!   Give me another 6 months of sewing on this only at sewing club each month and this top might be completed.
The only thing I did in those 2 days sewing in my craft room was to work on more of the blocks with the rectangles.  Both days I only intended to at least sew 2 together.  I ended up with 17 sewn, plus the 3 I had originally sewn and then sewn together.  I will keep making the blocks, as many as I can with the rectangles that I have, and then determine just what I will make with them.
I have also worked on more coasters.  I was able to get more plastic canvas so will continue now to make those until I use up the entire huge ball of yarn.
Here is a picture of what they all look like.  I do have some in my etsy store already in sets of 4, 6, or 8.
I am in hopes to make it to the quilt shop this afternoon for the monthly needlers.  I want to work on the applique bunnies.  They've been sorely neglected!  If I do make it down there I will share a photo of my progress with those next week.
