Frugal Friday With Marsha 4/11/14

It's garden time!
I am ready to get my gardening on.
This year I am going to try  something different......again.  I bought 3 raised bed things from my cousin last year.  One I did use to surround a compost pile, but I will plant something in it.

I'm waiting for my paycheck in today's mail to buy good soil to mix with the compost piles (even though they really didn't compost).
I have bought the black netting to lay in the bottom of each of the boxes.
I also bought some other supplies for a couple of plant food recipes that I want to try.

Here are the links to the 2 recipes that I am going to make:

Banana Peel Plant Fertilizer Spray

Ways To Stretch A Dollar: Homemade Liquid Miracle Grow Concentrate For $0.35 A Container!

I only have a set amount of money to spend on dirt and seeds, and plants so wish me luck that I can get a good garden going this year!

My friend paid for an ebook up Growing and Up Garden.  I read it out loud to my daughter, counting it for science in our homeschooling.  I learned more about composting so I hope I can be more successful with that this year.
I am going to turn on youtube with her and watch videos too.
This makes 3 years in a row that my compost pile didn't compost and I really don't know what I am doing wrong.

Our dirt in our yard is just not good.  That is why I am going to buy dirt to fill the raised beds.  I know it won't be too cheap, but I'm hoping I will then be able to just amend that from year to year after this year.

Do you have any gardening tips?   Link up anything frugal, money saving etc, even if it doesn't have to do with gardening!

Squidoo Hopping 4/10/14

Happy Thursday!
I hope Spring is upon you now and no more snow!
Here in Kansas today it's the usual windy Spring Day out.

I made a sale this past week.  Woo hoo!  I don't get those often in my lenses.
Payday is right around the corner next week too.
I'm enjoying the Giant Squids google+ group tremendously......I just need to get busy updating and building so that I can do more listing.
I'm only 186 pts away from finally reaching level 70....working towards that level 75.

How is squidoo going for you?

WIP Wednesday 4/9/14

I did make some progress this past week.
When I ran my mom around town on her payday I worked on putting more yo-yo's together on my table runner.
I got 2+ more rows on to it.  I'm thinking I may stop soon and have it only in the center of the coffee table.  Hubby keeps his laptop on one end of the table and it would be smashing down the yo-yo's.
Yesterday was sewing club at church.  I put 2 more rows together and on the quilt I am making there.
My once a month project, but I should be able to finish it next month.
I have 2 more rows to put on and then the binding.
If I hand sew the binding down that will take longer.  I haven't decided on that yet.
I've been working on and off the last week on the hexagon flowers.  I only completed 2 more flowers.  They do take longer to make than I anticipated, but I've also been on a big project of getting all of my coupons cut and into my binder as well.  There was a couple of days when I didn't work on the hexagons and worked strictly on the coupons.
I am taking my box of hexagons with me to my stitch group this afternoon.
I was given some fabric yesterday.  As I started to put it away in my craft room, I started looking through my project bags.  Oh gosh.....I had to add to my UFO and NewFO lists below as I had forgotten a few of my projects!!
I am totally serious when I say that I have enough materials to keep me busy for the next 10 years.  Imagining the things I can make that aren't already on these lists.

UFO's:
Log Cabin quilt
Log Cabin wall hanging
Log cabin table runner
Rectangle quilt
2 rectangle table runners (one done)
challenge wall hanging
GoodNight Irene quilt/wall hanging
Quilt for sewing club at church
 (Finished) Applique Bunnies quilt
 (Finished) Penny Patch Quilt
Yo-Yo Table runner
Hexagon table topper
(Finished) Spoolin' Around
Emerald Island Fusique table runner

NewFO's
Sunflower table runner and matching placemats
Spiderweb quilt
Easter wall hanging

Christmas bags (total of at least 25)

The latest from the Purex brand is the New Purex Crystals Limited Edition Fabuously Fresh.  Purex is again bring a fresh sensation to your laundry experience.

Let Purex bring a colorful escape to your day.
Your laundry will smell Fabulousy Fresh for weeks.
It will not reduce the absorbency of your towels.
It's safe for all loads, including children's sleepwear and athletic wear.

The first thing we did upon receiving our bottle of Fabulously Fresh was to open the bottle and have a smell.   My teenager said 'ah, smells like a nice spring day'.
It does have a nice scent.....not too strong, but not too weak.

I've been giving the Crystals a real test.  The heating element is out on my dryer.   I've been using the Crystals in the wash and then hanging the clothes out on the line.
I am so very pleased with the scent of our laundry----the freshness that you only get when you hang the laundry out to dry combined with the Fabulously Fresh is sure nice.

If you have never tried Purex Crystals, the Limited Edition is a great way to try a great product.
