Sewing....what sewing have I done this past week?
I sewed up the apron for my son's birthday yesterday.  Unfortunately, I had too many things on my mind and spaced off taking a picture of him wearing it while he grilled his birthday dinner on the new grill that he bought himself for his birthday.

I did finish my challenge quilt enough for it to be pinned up at guild on Monday.  I do still have to put the hanger on the back of it before the quilt show in July.  I can do that right?

I have 2 quilts that I want finished before the quilt show.  We are going to Branson on vacation next week so no sewing, and no posting either while we are gone.  I do actually have my box with yo-yo's and hexagons to take along.  I'm hoping to at least be working on those while hubby is driving.

In the meantime, I am heading to the little town where my daughter lives this weekend for their city wide yard sales.  Well, not sure you call population around 1200 a city, but I'm setting up with her.
I'm taking all of my crafts, so this week I am working on making dish scrubbies as they generally sell well for me.

Before I thought of getting scrubbies made, I had pulled out t-shirt strips and started on a rug.  I needed something that I could work on rather than just sitting here.  I will take it this weekend to work on while we have our sale.

UFO's:

Rectangle quilt
challenge wall hanging
GoodNight Irene quilt/wall hanging
Emerald Island Fusique table runner
Five and Dime quilt
Fractured Pineapple quilt
Charming Stars quilt
Brown half square triangle quilt
5 sets of doll blanket, pillows and rug
Hexagon flower table runner
Wall hanging for quilt guild
Challenge quilt for quilt guild

Frugal Friday with Marsha -- It's My Birthday

MarshasSpot

Yay for the Lord giving me another year of life and for surrounding me with family and friends who love me.

I don't have much to say about this past week.  I didn't spend much money, but then again I didn't have much to spend.
I had $10 in Walmart cards and used those to get cat food--using $2 coupons, as well as get the savingstar Friday freebie and healthy choice item of the week as well as some bananas with a rebate from checkout51.

Here it is Friday again.  I don't have to go to Walmart since I no longer have that merchandising job.  Will I go?  I don't know.  I will check on the Friday Freebies both on savingstar and Dillon's.  Oh yes, I remember seeing last night that salt is the Friday freebie for savingstar.  I will plan on just picking it up at Dillon's as well.

All of my children have already called or messaged to wish me a Happy Birthday.  My son called early, waking me up wanting to be the first one to tell me happy birthday.
My oldest daughter treated me to a Matthew West with Colton Dixon and Mr. Talkhead concert last night.
Just for fun I will share a few of the pictures that I took last night.

Homeschool Journal--We've been on Hiatus!

We've been on hiatus from many things!  It looks like I've not even written a blog post since October 5th.  Wow!

Life has been just crazy.  First Jasmine was working at the state fair, then my oldest daughter followed the state fair to Oklahoma so we had her 5 children for 2 weeks.  That would have been awesome if I was also homeschooling them, but alas, the father of the 3 oldest says no.

Last week was Jasmine's 16th birthday.  You know 16th's are special so we did a lot of planning and preparing for her party, including driving out of town to pick up my middle daughter and granddaughter so they could be here for her day.

It was rather funny.  One of the things that Jasmine spent some of her birthday money on was a word search book.  At a lull between decorating for the party and such she sat down and started working the word searches.  Her boyfriend called me over to point out that she was learning doing the puzzles.  Each one had a theme such as horses, authors, etc.  I thought it was rather neat that he is seeing the learning outside the classroom and textbooks.  Yes, he goes to public high school.

They are also learning music in youth group.  Jasmine is learning to play the bells for a program they are doing.

I will end today sharing some photos from her birthday party.

Finished it Friday--Quilt for My Grandson's Birthday

This is my first time to take part in the Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday blog hop.
Look at me...a quilt finished by Friday.

I had this quilt done earlier today but then have been away from home until now.

This is an EXTREMELY frugal birthday gift for my grandson, Cash, who will soon be 4.

A lady at church gave me the sheet of fabric that was printed to make one of those fabric books.  I decided I wanted to cut out the pages and make it into a quilt instead.
In my mom's basement I found one of my old craft totes and inside were 2 pieces of fabric I had bought at a yard sale some time ago.  I paid .25 for one piece and .75 for the other piece.
Amazingly enough, one was just right to cut into the strips to put between the pictures.  The other fit for the back of the quilt!
The blanket that is on the inside I picked up with a sack of blankets from the freecycle list.
Even the thread I used was given to me by my mom's friend.
So.......I have only .75 invested in this quilt plus the time to make it---with love, of course.

I turned one corner back so you could see the design of the material on the back.  I wanted to bind around but the fabric was the same width as the top so I folded the sides in to sew them.  This is the first time I've tried this.

Ta da!  I hope he loves it!

Homeschool Journal Week of October 9--Jasmine's Birthday!

Yes, last week started out with Jasmine's birthday.  She's 15 years old now.  Soon she will be grown and out of here.  It's a sad though indeed.  She is my youngest of 4 children.

Here are a couple of photos from her party:

The second one is my 2 yr old grandson having fun with the noisemaker and hat.   She had a nice party with family and friends over.  And, she got her prized gift of her own cell phone.

In other news for the week of homeschooling:

We had a pretty good week.  Tuesday was my sewing club.  As much as I would love for her to put down the books for the day and help us and learn to sew, she doesn't have an interest.  She works on schoolwork on her own while we sew until 3 pm.  She doesn't get down there until almost noon after Bible study upstairs.  Bible study at church is something we do each Tuesday, but I miss once a month for sewing club.

Although we only made it through every subject 2 different days last week, I am still very pleased with the amount of work we accomplished.

Jasmine attended the weekend fall retreat at the Kansas Bible Camp.  She's good about telling me what she's done that would count for school.  This included all of the chapel times, all of the game time, as well as their service ops time.

I went to list a textbook up for sale in my half.com account, but then decided I want to use the text with Jasmine.  It's Introduction to Business.   It's been a fun textbook so far, and very interesting.  I did list it, so, if it doesn't sell (at least not right away) we might get to finish it.  If it does sell, in the meantime, I am going to work in it with her until such time.

I have bookshelves in the other room of books for future use---books we've used in the past but maybe didn't finish----and then I have milk crates full of books that I have for sale.  Always something to find at my house.  So much, in fact that I have considered opening up a homeschool lending library and contacting our local group to let them know about it.  We used to have a lending library at a members home but they have long since been done with homeschooling and moved away.  I know that I sure miss the opportunity to check out books.  I'm sure if I did open a lending library that several families would donate books and things for me to have available to share as well.  I'm sure going to keep this in mind.

I better move along for this week.  I'm linking up with:

31 Days of Tracking Spending--Day 9

Today was Jasmine's birthday as you all know from my previous posts and the cell phone.  I don't think she was too thrilled that she didn't get the fancy one she wanted.....she said thank you and took my phone right away to get her friends put in to her own phone.  She texted everyone right away...she just didn't have the excitement I thought she should have.

Anyway back to today's spending.

That I am aware of my husband didn't spend any money that I know of  past putting money in the offering plate at church.

I spent $22 and some change at Wal Mart.  Just over $12 of that was yarn and netting to use for craft orders, so that is not part of our budget.  I keep track of my business separately.   I used 4 more of the free Crave cat treat coupons so only paid sales tax on those.  I bought one can of the .30 canned cat food to see how the animals like it.  If they like it then I can spend less on the canned food by buying it.  I bought myself a new mouse for my computer.  My scrollie button quit working a couple of weeks ago and it's been driving me batty.  I bought the cheapest mouse for just $6.  I splurged on a package of the tart melts as I call them.  I love to scent up the house and was out.  I also splurged $1 and bought a sheet of Halloween clings.

Looks like that is my report for today.

Handmade Gifts for Ariel

A financial dilemma made me really think about the birthday's of 3 granddaughters this month.
Handmade is better anyway, so what was I thinking?

Today is Ariel's 7th birthday.

I had ran across a squidoo lens about bracelets made from plarn.  That sparked an idea.   I also crocheted her a necklace with beads.  Both are shown in the photo below:

As I sat making those another idea hit me that I had thought of one other time.  Make them quilts for their dolls!   I have quite a pile of different sized squares that are left over from other quilts.  I got to work.  It wasn't getting as large as I wanted it to be so I kept adding on here and there until I thought it was an acceptable size.  I think this is what you call true quilting.
Here is what I came up with.  I have 2 more to make, including Willo's today.  Each will be different than the others.

I will end with a picture of the birthday girl with her cake:

I hope to start doing more of these frugal gift posts.

Monday September 28

Good Morning!
I used to do so well, typing into my blog daily..now it's only 2 or 3 times a week...
I've just become so busy these days!

Yesterday was a FULL day. We went to church...after church I got m Walgreens lists and coupons ready to go and then went shopping. Once home we ate some ham and beans....then we headed to my mom's for her birthday cake and ice cream. Right after that we were off to church for youth group meeting. Whew! Run, run, run, and run some more.

This morning started early running my son a few places. Right now I need to be upstairs getting Jasmine up. I really want to get going on her schoolwork for the day and get that done.

I just updated my Our Unschooling Journey 4 squidoo lens. I think I would like to continue these lenses, but we aren't really unschooling so I am thinking on a name change. It's nice for me to keep a running journal of the work that is being done.

I got in my Mail Call! Week of September 20 and my Walgreen's Shopping 9/27/09 posts on gather. I've still been putting in 3 photos a day from the Kansas State Fair. I hope to get in a photo essay today along with 3 more photos, my usual daily post for my group, and a video.

We are to have a yard sale this next Saturday. According to the forecast, as of right now they aren't calling for any rain that day but the high is 64. I will keep watching it. In the meantime I have a box of clothes yet to price...a bag of misc. to price, and 2 small boxes of books to get priced. I do hope the weather holds up and that I can make a few dollars.

I better run and get Jasmine up and her day started. Have a great Monday.

Saturday June 13

Good Morning!
Jasmine and I got up early and headed to church to help set out the rummage sale items. We found some pretty cool things to buy cheap too. I got plenty of craft supplies.

We are heading out now to my great Aunts. Today is her 89th birthday. She's not seen baby Jacob yet. How many of us are going?.....10 of us! After we visit there we will go back to the church and help pack up what doesn't get sold. They will take it to the Goodwill store, but it's also then up for grabs to take what we want since they are just giving it away. I don't think I need to take anything, but who knows.

I didn't learn my lesson last time for not keeping up with my homeschoolbuy auctions. I let 42 auctions lapse that I had to relist. That took me about 4 hours yesterday but it's done! I have a weekly card in my card file to update the auctions there, but haven't kept up with my box for about a month now. You can check out the books I have for sale if you would like Marsha's HomeschoolBuy Items

Off we go! Have a great Saturday!

Tuesday April 28

Good Morning! Brrr, it was pretty chilly here yesterday. I had to grab my coat when we went shopping. 40 right now. I bought some tomato and bell pepper plants yesterday. I am hoping to get those planted today.

I did my Walgreen shopping and got that trip listed on gather. Walgreen shopping 4/27/09

I did some more updating of squidoo lenses yesterday. I added a photo of my own file to my Sidetracked Home Executives Book Review Lens
I added some neat picture sayings to my Tweety Bird Lens

Today's is my oldest child, and only son's birthday. He is 26 today. We have no plans and I don't have a gift or a card for him! I better get on the ball finding out what we are going to do. I have a chocolate cake mix and frosting in the pantry but I am thinking he is the one that doesn't like chocolate. Just chatted with my oldest daughter and she is going to get a hold of him and see what he wants to do. We may end up doing another bbq despite the weather.

I guess I better close this for today and move on to other things. Here's to a great day to you all,
Marsha

Monday April 27

Good Morning! It's been one rainy weekend here and it doesn't look like it's ready to let up yet.
Jasmine and I had a good time spending Saturday evening with Steve. We started out having bbq chicken, mac and cheese, green beans and rolls for supper. Then, we watched 2 movies.
Church was nice yesterday morning, I even got my oldest daughter and the grandkids there. One of our new members is building us a church website. Because the church is not the building, but the people, he brought his equipment and took a photo of all who were at the service yesterday. That will be the main photo on our website.
After church I put supper in the crockpot, but oops...forgot to turn the crockpot on! We did get to eat but just later in the evening than usual. Oh well, it all worked out in the end.

Today is my moderate cleaning day upstairs and I've decided to work a bit on here, clean up there and back and forth until it's done upstairs. I also want to get up to Walgreens today for my weekly shopping there. Also in hopes while up north there I can stop into the large grocery with the greenhouse and get some plants and things to get my garden going.

I did my mail call post on gather a day late yesterday. Mail Call! Week of April 19 I also shared Photos From My Birthday 4/24/09

I got in Our Unschooling Journey Part 2 weekly update in a day later than usual on squidoo.
I updated the first lens as well...Our Unschooling Journey
I even update my general Homeschooling lens as well.

All in all I ended up getting a lot more done online yesterday than I thought I would. For now I better get back to the housework. Here's to a great start to your week,
Marsha

Saturday April 25

Good morning! I've been booking along this morning working on all kinds of things...realized it's 11 am and I hadn't typed my blog yet!
I had so much fun last night at the dinner theater!! I really do need to get out and do more fun things like that.
That's one of the things I've been doing this morning is preparing my photos and videos from the trip to share on gather. Those and some from the night before at my grandson's Spring program.

Today is yet another short internet day as we've promised Steve to go spend the evening at his house. Not sure what we will do, probably bbq and watch a movie.

I've still working this morning yet on getting my blujay items in rotation on reallysmartdeals. I'm almost done!

I came home late last night but check wordlinx as I was so close to payout. Clicked the ads then got instant payout to paypal. This is another of the really good and reliable paid to clicks. If you aren't a member I hope you will check it out.
WordLinx - Get Paid To Click

I'm going to close for now. I won't be on the computer tomorrow until the afternoon after church.
Have a great Saturday!

Friday April 24

Good Morning. I'm slacking on getting my blog written as early as I should. I keep jumping back and forth between cleaning and computering. I was really wishing the kids would get up and do my cleaning for me today for my birthday but no such luck. I would put it off until tomorrow, but it's a wreck down here and I have plans for tomorrow evening too.

I had forgotten about my grandson's program at school until after Jasmine and I got back from our walk to do the shopping for the week. Here is my shopping trip post Shopping Trip 4/23/09 I got lots of video from his program now to share on gather. I got in all the Easter videos in to gather yesterday finally...those and 2 of the kittens!

This evening I am going to the Wichita Crown Uptown Theater with a group from church. We are taking a bus. It should be lots of fun, I just need to let myself have a good time and not stress over the computer time I am missing!

I'm still busy getting my blujay items rotating in reallysmartdeals. I'm just over halfway there so I imagine I will have to finish it up tomorrow.

Until tomorrow, here's to a great start to your weekend!
Marsha

Thursday April 23

Good Morning! I did it again, only this morning I didn't get out of bed until 9 am! Once again I couldn't sleep last night. I finished reading one book and started reading another one.
Tomorrow is my birthday, and also my heavier cleaning day of the basement. I'm thinking I should do all the cleaning today. Tomorrow I am going with a group from church to Wichita for the evening to the Crown Uptown Dinner Theater. I want to be able to spend what time I am home tomorrow on the computer not cleaning. Besides, who wants to clean on their birthday?

Today is shopping day. I printed out the sales list but haven't even looked at it to see if there are any things I can match coupons to. I just have some things that I want to buy and ingredients for a recipe I want to try.

I'm busy getting my blujay items back in to rotation at reallysmartdeals. I am still so very glad that blujay came back!

Hey! I just got another payment from matrixmails. It's one of the great paid to click type programs that I do.
MatrixMails - Get paid

Well, off to get a bunch of other things done for today. Have a great Thursday!

Saturday April 18

Good morning! I've been up since early but doing other things....like watching Handy Manny on Playhouse Disney to write a review of a show on gather. Here is the review that I wrote: Handy Manny Arbor Day Episode Review

Today's is the day my son gets out of jail. I will be so relieved, but not as relieved as he is I'm sure. He's already got word that he has his job back. Today is also my boyfriend's birthday. The sad part is that I've not spoken to Steve since Palm Sunday when he gave me and my mom a ride to church. He's not called me and I've not called him. We don't make the best boyfriend/girlfriend. Now I don't know if I should call him and wish him Happy Birthday and see if he has any plans for us, or wait and see if he calls me.

This is to be my first smoke free day. I found I have 5 pieces of the Nicorette gum. I hope it helps me through the day, and maybe, just maybe since I've only been smoking like 4 cigarettes a day I can use only 3 of the pieces and have 2 left for tomorrow.

I did have a productive day yesterday, and today will be the same even though I am skipping around getting things done. No matter what my evening plans end up being, I will be satisfied with what I get done online.

I'm going to close for now and move on to my gather group work.
Have yourself one awesome Saturday!
Marsha

Sunday February 1

Here it is February 1. Today is my oldest daughters birthday. She is 23 today. Happy Birthday Elizabeth!

I did end up getting some cleaning done yesterday afterall, and I'm working on laundry right now. I will need to make laundry soap today. Despite what my mother thinks about it, why should I buy it when I have the ingredients to make it?

I got a lot of the plarn cut and made yesterday for my next shopping bag. I think it will be pretty as I found a large light green dress bag to cut up. Below is a photo of the blue and white bag that I have up for sale on blujay.

Here is my weekly Mail Call post on gather. I think I had a great mail week, I got something every day I think. Mail Call! Week of January 25

And, as promised, I made the squidoo lens on our Kansas Lapbook. I hope you will take a look. We will make more then I have to decide if I will do a separate lens on each one, or a combination lens. Kansas Lapbook

Until tomorrow, have a very blessed Sunday.

Thursday January 29-Happy Birthday Kansas!

Good Morning. It warmed up enough yesterday to mels almost all the snow from Monday and Tuesday. Now, if every winter was like this one,I suppose I wouldn't complain too much. I like the snow, as it's beautiful, just don't like the wind and cold that comes with it.

Today is Kansas' 148th Birthday. I'm going to have Jasmine make a lapbook on Kansas, so I've been busy in between internet stuff and cleaning getting some stuff rounded up for her to work with. Going next to print off some things for her lapbook.

My coupon routine is getting messed up because of the online parties this week. Monday and again Friday I won't get off of here to work on them while I watch my shows. I will this evening though while I watch Grey's Anatomy. I did go through coupons yesterday to shop the sale at the store, and I was glad for the ones that I did have organized that were easy to find.

I think for today I will feature my lens on our unschooling journey. I've not share it since adding some photos. It really makes it stand out. I also realized just how long the lens would be if I indeed do all 52 weeks in one lens. I've decided to make it into 5 different lenses over the span of the year, with 10 week in all but the last one. Our Unschooling Journey

Have a great Thursday!
Marsha

Friday October 10

Thank God It's Friday...and I mean that!
Yesterday was a long exhausting day celebrating Jasmine's 12th birthday. I worked for 3 hours, then spent 3 hours cooking her meal for her, then 3 more hours of shopping with her birthday money, opening gifts and having cake and ice cream. Afterwords we came downstairs and watch Rose Red, which didn't end until midnight so we stayed up a lot later than we should have.

I am about to take my mom to the doctor this morning. We changed her appt from yesterday to not interupt Jasmine's day. Once done there, my daughter and I are going to the Mennonite church to order our food from Angel Food Ministries. After that I have no other plans except to do a couple loads of laundry and get done what I can here on the computer.

I got another lens built yesterday, this one on the online craft mall at Under The Rainbow. Please click over on the left and check it out. I won a free space at the party, so I am going to use my lens, in conjunction with gather and have a contest to give that party spot away.

I did put in photos of Jasmine's day at gather too. Jasmine's 12th Birthday--October 9, 2008 with photos

I got the rest of my photos resized and ready to share and make photo essays with this morning too. Better run for now, need to get mom for her fasting lab.

A wonderful day to all,
Marsha

Thursday October 9

Happy birthday to my Jasmine today! She is now 12 years old and hasn't been my baby anymore for some time.
We got to the store last night and bought her ice cream. We got hamburger patties and hot dogs, the buns, and the fixings for the bbq she wants to have. We still have to get her cake today. I have a potato salad recipe that I printed from a gather post that I want to try out too.

I made it to work and back yesterday with the help of Steve. Later in the day the other guys came and got the donut spare put on my van to find that it was pretty flat. They got air in it and this morning it's still up thank goodness. I hope I can get by driving on it until payday next week. Jasmine and I walked to the store and shopped while they were working on it then they came to pick us and the groceries up.

The party went well for me last night even though very few were there. I got 2 orders for Jerky and a total of 12 dish scrubbies ordered. with making the scrubbies and the hotpads and coasters that I gave as a prize I will be busy this next week. Want to check out the Jerky for yourself? It's the best around. As of the 1st of this month I am doing the Jerky only with my business. Jerky Direct
I also won another prize last night bringing me to a total of 6 for the event! And....I also was drawn to win the grand prize. The 4 days of partying ended up being a real blessing for me and will sure be a great help as I am gathering items to give for Christmas.

I am off to see if I can get in some spins over at winster. The last few days I've only been there about long enough to log in and gather up my spins for the day. I was very impressed with winster! When I cashed out for my $5 amazon, within minutes I had the code.

Take care all and wish Jasmine a Happy Birthday today.
