TGIFF--Bambi Quilt is Done

It's been a LONG time since I've posted a Thank Goodness It's Finished Friday post. I don't think I've completed anything else between then and now as far as quilting. That means that I really need to stay busy!

My finish today is a simple Bambi baby quilt. I used a storybook panel, cut out the pages, put the sashing between each one and made binding.

I bought a new sewing machine, so this is my first machine quilted quilt. I bought a walking foot to go with my machine. I'm very pleased so far.

This is also the first time I've tried hand sewing the binding complete as well.

Frugal Friday With Marsha--11/9/12 (linky)

I hope this finds that everyone has had a good week.  Those that endured Sandy have continued to be in my prayers as they work to get their lives back in order.  Especially those who then had to deal with the snow storm as well!

I had some more good shopping trips with sales and coupons this past week:
Here I spent .54.  I saved a total of $19.80 with coupons including the extra $5 off from the buy 10 sale.  My receipt shows 100% savings because the .54 was sales tax.   I used $6 in catalinas that I had rec'd in a previous trip.

Here I spent $14.14 and saved $68.66 with coupons and the buy 10 sale.  I saved 90% plus rec'd the $6 in catalinas that I used in the trip from the picture above.   ($2 catalina for buying 2 Dove body wash for men, which I paid .49 each for after coupons and $4 catalina for buying 4 Reach toothbrushes (which you can't see in my photo) that I paid .49 each for after coupons)

It seems that saving money with coupons and re-stocking our house is about the extent of me being frugal lately.
Well, other than my usual trying to make sure lights are not on when no one's in the room.

This week I want to share  5 different uses for Lip Balm out of the 99 Cent Solutions book:

1.  Tame those eyebrows---or that mustache.  Apply a little lip balm to calm down those hairs.  It's clear, waxy, and able to groom those wild hairs.

2.   Use it on your hands.  If your hands are still getting chapped over the winter months, even using lotion, rub lip balm on them, particularly between your fingers, on them every night before bed.  You will treat the rough spots and contribute to overall moisturizing.

3.  Lightbulbs---If you put lip balm on the threads of your light bulbs before putting them in to the sockets, you will prevent rusting and make removing them easy when they burn out.

4.  Faux finish--if you are out on that hot date and you chip your nail polish, just touch up the area of the nail with your matching lip stick.

5.  Take the ouch out of shaving--Lip balm is a pain-free alternative to styptic pencil.  Just dab a bit on your cut and you'll be good to go.

Squidoo Hopping--Original Photos

This week I would like for you to share lenses that you have built where you use your own original photos within the lens.

Maybe you've made a lens all about your town, or a vacation you took.  Maybe you've reviewed a book or a toy, or something else.  Maybe it's the flowers and plants in your yard.  Maybe it's your about me lens with photos of yourself and your family.  Maybe it's a lens about your pets.  Whatever they are, please pick one or 2 to share below.

For those of you that are new, you will hit the spot where it has the little blue frog face and the words add your link.  It will then pop down where you will put in the url to the lens, the title, and your email.  From there it will take you to a page where you choose the picture you want in the list.

Please remember to link up any blog posts you have done that have anything to do with squidoo as well.  Thanks!!

WIP Wednesday--Handwork Is Ready

I can say that I've gotten in quite a bit of crafting in over the last week.....but not as much as I would have liked to!

Let's start with my hand applique project.  I pulled out materials and have them lined up for more bunnies.  I went and bought 2 bags of embroidery thread, and I put all my supplies into a shoebox.  My plan is to work on this Friday night at sit n' sew.  Before I work on it on the go, I need to finish up the Bambi quilt I currently have in my van to work on.
The year is coming to an end and I am getting closer to finishing up my granny a day 2012 blanket.  Here it is, day 312, November 7.

I finished crocheting up an order of a dozen dish scrubbies this week.  I really really really need to work on a set of pillowcases that are ordered as well.  I've been putting it off since I am going to try something new with them and applique on pictures.
I am still working on this knitted prayer shawl for church still.  I only pulled it out 2 evenings, so not too many more rows put on it.  I hope to get it completed over the next couple of evenings and get it delivered to church.
The challenge has been put out with our quilt guild.  I have some pre-cut blocks that I want to use for it and I have some ideas rolling around in my head.  I'm going to make mine a table runner in some flowered materials.  The completed challenge project is to be done by the April guild meeting.

Oh, so many UFO's still sitting in my craft room, and more projects that I want to start on!  I have my crafting work ahead of me.
