Shop Hop Saturday 5/28/11

I've stayed pretty busy this week on crafts, so I'm happy with that.
I finished up the order for dish scrubbies and washcloths and finished the Minnie baby hat on another order.

I was able to finish the strip quilt and got it listed in my etsy store. I had spaced off paying my fees this month...oops! They are paid now. It had been awhile since I had even been in my store and had to get 8 items relisted that had expired too. Also, since the last time I listed something they changed the way you list. It's much easier now. You can find my new strip quilt here.

I also got a few more things made up in my zazzle store. A postcard, some stickers and 2 more postage stamps. You can see my store here. I also got another sale in zazzle this past week too!

I'm currently back to working on crocheting the double thick hot pads. I'm on a mission to see how many I can get made before next Saturday when we are having the fundraising sale at church. Half of what I make I am donating to the sale, the other half will be listed in my etsy shop. I still have loads of the varigated yarn to make in to the hotpads. This will keep my busy, but I also hope to get started on another quilt, some baby bibs, more fabric bags and some quilted hot pads as well.

I think that is all my news for this week. Thanks so much to Ruthi for hosting this Shop Hop. Please click the button and hop along or check out and support other.

Frugal Friday 5/27/11

Happy Friday!

We've had some bad weather this past week, but around it I have managed to hang all laundry out on the clothesline.  Another thing I am doing with the laundry is washing in cold water.

I was able to do some coupon shopping this past week.  Those links are in the linky.   My Mailbox Monday post is also in the linky, where I share the freebies that came in my mailbox the previous month.

We've made sure this week to not let leftovers go to waste.  One night was consciously done as it was a busy day away from home and that was the quickest.  Otherwise they've been used other nights.  My deep freeze (just a small square chest one) is full, as is the freezer on the fridge thanks to a shopping trip to Aldi to stock us up.  He gave me grocery money out of the income tax refund and I chose to stock up with it so that I can get back to trying my best with my coupons and good deals.

I hope you will hook up with my linky and maybe also get the word out about it so others will as well.  I also look forward to the inspiration of others!

Squidoo Hopping 5/26/11

Happy Thursday to all!   After the storms, I woke up this morning to a solid blue sky.  I do have to say that I hope it stays that way for awhile.

I hope, if you are reading these posts, that you will help me spread the word about this hop each week.  Place the button on your own blog or do a post about it.  Join along in the linky and keep me and others busy with squidoo.

I have tried to be busier with squidoo this past week.
First of all, I would like to ask you to visit Our Unschooling Journey 3--  I am finding this one to be "in the pink" with it's ranking too low to show up in searches and such.  I just looked through it and it sure brought back a lot of memories for both me and Jasmine from 2 years ago.

I updated My Toothbrush Rugs lens with a couple more photos.  I have 2 more updates planned for this lens.  The last one being the completed rug.  That will be awhile as I have some other projects that must come first.

I updated my Helen Steiner Rice lens.  I was updating it to change the amazon to my own affiliate links.  I have since found out that the links aren't working now like they were.  I did add another section of books while I was there as well.  However, I hope you will still visit.  This lens has been my top lens for a long time, and the only one that has stayed 10,000 and below in ranking.  Right now it's below 2000 on ranking!

I updated my Jerky Direct Business Opportunity lens to add in 2 new products.  I will update again once the products are available next month.  Jerky Direct has been good to me over the years so I really want to spend more time getting the word out about this lens and working to build my business.

I built just one new lens-- This Day in History May 25.  I did this one in honor of my brothers birthday.  The gal that usually puts out the lists that I use to build with hasn't put one out for awhile now.  I found another list by someone in gather but the entire list was boring.  So, I did a search on my own and picked some of what I found to be interesting.  I have fun with these.

When someone clicks on this banner, they are taken to the info page about the blog hop.  I now include a link to the current week on this page.

WIP Wednesday

Wednesday seems to have snuck up on me...and it's a busy Wednesday away from home today too.  I'm in between places so wanted to get my post in.

I finished the strip quilt.  I'm not happy about the pull because of the stretchy center piece, but it will be up for sale on my etsy soon all the same.  Maybe one of these days I will have learned all the tricks and such with quilting.
I managed to get the squares cut down for the quilt I am working on for sewing club at church.  Hopefully I can get them sewn together before we meet again.
I did finish up the order for washcloths and dish scrubbies.  I'm working now on the baby hat order.  I only have one more ear to crochet and then to put it together.  Once I get that completed, I'm afraid that my rug has to yet be put off, as well as starting on new quilts.  I really need to get back to crocheting the double thick hotpads that I want to donate to the church fundraiser.  The sale is June 4 and that is right around the corner!
I want to say thank you to the 3 blog owner who post WIP Wednesday linkys.  I am enjoying participating in all 3.   I hope you will click the buttons below and check out what others are doing, and maybe even add your own post as well.

Walgreen's and A Little More Grocery Shopping 3/23/11

I made my trip to Walgreen's this morning.  I only bought 3 items:
Pure Silk shave cream on sale for $1.99 with $1.50 back in RR's
Tone Body Wash on sale for $3.99 with $3 back in RR's
Scunchi hair ties on sale for $2 with $2 back in RR's.

I didn't have any coupons, but I used my $4.50 in RR's from my previous trip.  I spent $4.12 out of pocket and got back $6.50 in RR's for my next shopping, so I am happy.

Yesterday while shopping I had seen that the Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce was on sale for just $1 a bottle.  I passed it by but once home and cutting and sorting the coupons from yesterday paper, I noticed a $1 off coupon.  I had 2.  I started on my little trek of seeing what else to buy.

I ended up buying:
Driscoll Strawberries, $2.50, used .50 coupon printed from their website making them $1.50
2- Fancy Feast Medleys cat food, used free coupon from recycle bank
2- Suave deoderant, regular price of $1.06, used 2-.50 coupons making them just .06 each
2-Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce, on sale for $1, used 2-$1 coupons.

I paid just $2.12 out of pocket.  I used a total of $6.98 in coupons.  87% savings including sales and coupons!  You know I had to do it!

Pictured are the items from both trips.

Happy Shopping!

Mailbox Monday 5/23/11

I sure didn't get the volume of mail in this past week that I've gotten the previous 3 weeks.  I switched my hausernet account to our house instead of my mother's address.  This leaves me pretty well starting over with their program.  However, I'm happy that I did get in 2 magazines from them to this address.  The other 3 pieces came to my mom's address, of which they tell me to keep inputting that data as well, and that I will still get paid for it. (If I see an check anytime soon anyway)
I received:
People magazine
Sports Illustrated magazine
3 other pieces of hausernet mail
Coupon for 2 free cans of Fancy Feast from recyclebank --(has anyone else ordered mulitple coupons at once?  I ordered a total of 5 between the Friskies and Fancy Feast but have only gotten in the one.  I'm wondering where the other 4 coupons are.)
Let's Eat Cookbook--won through a gather post--review will be coming soon.
Jerky Direct autoship (paid for by my downline)
Coupons for Covergirl from a blog I read.
That's it!  I almost can't believe it.

Dillon's (Kroger) Shopping 5/22/11--72% Savings

I'm already happier because I say I saved 72%!

This week the mega event includes only frozen items.  The deal is still the same--buy 10 get an additional $5 off your order.  Pricing below will reflect the price after the additional .50 off per item.  Also, my store doubles coupons up to $1 off.

2-New York Texas Toast on sale for $1.79 each.  Used .40 and .50 coupons making them .99 and .79 each.
5-Sister Shubert dinner rolls on sale for $1.79.  Used 2-$1 coupons and 3-.50 coupons making them .79 each.
2-Green Giant boxed veggies on sale for .99 each.  No coupons (what has happened to our GG coupons?)
Ore-Ida Sweet Potato Fries on sale for $2.49.  Used $1 coupon making them $1.49
3-Kool-Aid on sale 6 for $1.  I used the buy 2 get 1 free coupon.  Register took off .25 and then doubled making them free.
2 half gallons milk on sale 2 for $3.
2 Lipton side dishes $1 each, used .50/2 coupon making them .50 each.
2 Colgate toothpaste on sale for .88 each.  Used 2-.75 coupons making them free plus .24 total overage.
2-Colgate toothbrushes at .98 each.  Used 2-.75 coupons making them free plus .04 total overage. (The store was out of the .88 toothbrushes on sale so I just grabbed the cheap ones)

I spent $14.70 OOP of which $1.78 was sales tax.  I saved $18.30 with coupons including the additional $5 off.  With sales and coupons I saved 72%!

I made a trip to Aldi this last week where I did a little grocery stock up with a lot of meat and canned fruits and veggies.  This will allow me to concentrate on my coupon shopping, and hopefully I can get it more mastered.  I spent $159 at Aldi, which also included several non-food household items as well.
