Frugal Friday with Marsha 9/5/14 Chicken with Carrots and Gravy

Here is another one of our family favorites. I don’t remember if someone told me to make this or if I just threw it together.

                    Chicken with Carrots and Gravy

1 lb boneless chicken breasts
1 can carrots, drained
2 cans or jars of chicken gravy.

I cook 3 lbs of the boneless chicken breasts in the crockpot at a time as they are sold in the 3 lb bags frozen. I then cube and divide it, using 1/3 for this recipes and freezing the other 2/3 seperately for other meals.

Once the chicken is cooked and drained, top with the can of carrots and the 2 jars or cans of chicken gravy. Cook in the crockpot long enough for the carrots and gravy to heat.

We serve this over mashed potatoes.

Like I said, it’s quick, easy and cheap, but it’s also very filling.

This is the crockpot that I use when I make my chicken with carrots and gravy.  I've had it for years and it had held up very well.

Writer's Unite Weekly Link Up 9/4/14

September is here already.  Things have been super busy with school starting and now this week the State Fair starts.  That means not only my regular activities, but also going to the fair, working a youth group fundraiser at the church my daughter attends youth group, and also 4 days of a big fundraiser at our own church as well!  Whew!

I haven't gotten any of my late squidoo writings here on my blog yet, but I did get some of the book reviews into bubblews posts.  I will be sharing 2 of those in this week's linky.

Thanks for sharing!

WIP Wednesday 9/3/14

I don't think it's been a very productive sewing week, but maybe it has been.
I was able to finish my Sunflower table runner and 4 placemats and take those off of my UFO list.

I found a few stray fabric strips around and worked more on this toothbrush rug.  It still has a ways to go before it's large enough for me to call finished.
It's September and the soscrappy challenge (see button at the bottom of my post) color for September is orange.
A lot of my orange fabric is Halloween print.
My goal by today was to get all of the loose hexagons made.  I did make that goal, but noticed that I have more than enough of the pumpkins for a flower.  I have 4 flower sets pinned together with those pumpkins and one with another Halloween fabric.  Not really what you want to make flowers with so I've changed up my plan.
Now I'm working to make all of the Halloween hexagons and see if by change it's enough to make a small wall hanging or table topper with them.
That has become my September goal now.

UFO's:
Rectangle quilt
challenge wall hanging
GoodNight Irene quilt/wall hanging
Yo-Yo Table runner
Emerald Island Fusique table runner
Five and Dime quilt
34 Hot Pads
Christmas bags (total of at least 25)
