WIP Wednesday 12/2/15

Oh how I am feeling the Christmas crunch!  Of course it's my own fault for procrastinating and just not having the sewing motivation that I like to have.

First of all, I got in my new sewing machine!  It was to be delivered on Friday, but due to the ice storms it came in on Monday.
I'm very pleased with it and have a lot to learn on how to use it.

Wanting to get right to using the machine, I went back to work on the microwave hot dish potholders that I am making for gifts.  It took all I had not to mark one and sew it, but I forced myself to get them all marked.  I've not started sewing on them yet, but that comes later today.  Prep work for projects a lot of times takes a lot longer than actually making the item.

I had been working on the dish scrubbies for the orders of those and had stopped on the hotpads until my machine got here.  I still have lots of scrubbies to also get made in time as they will also be for gifts from the person that is buying them from me.

How are you doing on gifts that you are making??

Sewing....what sewing have I done this past week?
I sewed up the apron for my son's birthday yesterday.  Unfortunately, I had too many things on my mind and spaced off taking a picture of him wearing it while he grilled his birthday dinner on the new grill that he bought himself for his birthday.

I did finish my challenge quilt enough for it to be pinned up at guild on Monday.  I do still have to put the hanger on the back of it before the quilt show in July.  I can do that right?

I have 2 quilts that I want finished before the quilt show.  We are going to Branson on vacation next week so no sewing, and no posting either while we are gone.  I do actually have my box with yo-yo's and hexagons to take along.  I'm hoping to at least be working on those while hubby is driving.

In the meantime, I am heading to the little town where my daughter lives this weekend for their city wide yard sales.  Well, not sure you call population around 1200 a city, but I'm setting up with her.
I'm taking all of my crafts, so this week I am working on making dish scrubbies as they generally sell well for me.

Before I thought of getting scrubbies made, I had pulled out t-shirt strips and started on a rug.  I needed something that I could work on rather than just sitting here.  I will take it this weekend to work on while we have our sale.

WIP Wednesday--Scrappy Quilt is Almost Done

I have still not sat behind my sewing machine to do any work since March 19th---other than yesterday at sewing club at my church.  I spent the day working on finishing up the scrappy quilt.  I just have to finish the tying and put on the binding and it will be done!  I am in hopes of having it done by Friday for the TGIFF post but not making any promises to myself or to you all with everything else I try to cram into my days.
My daughter took this photo of me yesterday getting started on the tying.  The blue in the back is the binding I have ready to sew on.
If you remember, I am now going to share my granny a square challenge progress every other week.  But, while at church yesterday I got to look through the yarn stash we have there.  The yarn is donated to make the prayer shawls.  The lad in charge let me pay a little bit of money to buy the yarn "scraps" out of the boxes so that I can use them in my granny square blanket.  I'm excited as there were some pretty colors to add to my blanket.  I also brought home 4 skeins to make a shawl with.  I have an idea of making one with granny squares.

In other news, if you remember last week, I shared a picture of loads of netting.  I did get it all cut into strips and worked on making scrubbies.  I ended up getting 19 made (as shown in my jar below)  I sold most of them at my daughter's yard sale, so that worked out to give me a little cash in my pocket.  I've not made anymore yet, but should since they will be having another sale.
That's my report for this week.  I am linking up with the following blogs:

WIP Wednesday--Time To Get Back to Work

I'm kind of ashamed to say that I have not sat behind my sewing machine since March 19, the day before my daughter left for England.

My biggest WIP since has been working on re-organizing the house.  I have a long way to go on that, but things are getting back to where they belong instead of shoved here and there.

Here is the picture of the scrappy quilt top that I am done with for sewing club at church.  I didn't make it to get it posted for TGIFF.  We should meet for sewing club next Tuesday and I plan on working on what I can to finish the quilt.

For the Granny a Day Challenge, this is actually done through day 97--April 6, 2012.  I just thought I needed to finish up a row.    My plan from here on out is to share every 2 weeks on the progress instead of weekly.  This way there will be much more to notice on progress.

Finally for this week's post, I am starting on a new WIP.  My daughter came over and brought me 3 huge pieces of netting for me to make scrubbies.  It's time to get it cut and get to working on making those scrubbies!  I already had some other colors bought and nothing started.  Wish me luck in the cutting venture.  I have already started working on it since taking this photos of piles on netting.

Shop Hop Saturday--The Best of Intentions

I have put off doing this post today as I attempted to finish some things up to list in my store.
The best of intentions....

I am however, almost done with a set of washcloths.  I'm working on a quilt top.  Again with the intentions....it's my intention to have it completed and listed next week.

I have other plans but we will see what life brings.

I completed and mailed out the dish scrubbie order and the washcloth order.  I have another washcloth in the works.  Just waiting to hear if the order is a go.

I have some blog work to get done as far as getting reviews in...one including a new giveaway.
Speaking of my blog, this past week I changed the winners page to be a linky's/blog hop page.  I do hope to get the word out and have others come in and list the hops they host.  I posted the ones that participate in or have in the past.  There are tons and tons of them out there to choose from.

I need to still get books looked through.  I'm down to the wire on that as I only have until Wednesday to get them looked through and decide which ones are being donated to the fundraising yard sale next week.

Until next week, let's just see how much I can get done  :)

WIP Wednesday 10/19/11--Keep on Working

I've still been working this past week on the dish scrubbies.  Just one more to make to complete my orders.  I've also been crocheting the washclothes for an order.
We had a garage sale so I went in to my craft room and emptied my shelves of supplies into totes and boxes.  I wanted the shelves in the garage to hold the books that I have for sale.  In the meantime I packed up a container with "to-do" projects.  It's pictured with the washcloths I am working on and includes 3 fabric bags to make, baby bibs, pieces for another quilt top for church, material to cut in to strips for my next jelly roll type quilt, and material to make a table runner.
I spent 2 days this past week finishing up the 54 squares for the quilt top I am currently working on for church.  If you remember, we had 13 of them complete last week in club.  That means I put together 41 more at home.  They aren't complete as they still need to be ironed and cut to size before I can start sewing them together.  For now they are put up with plans to work more on them at club next month.
Looks that is my report for this week....I really want to finish up the last 4 washcloths today as well as the 1 dish scrubbie and get those orders out.

WIP Wednesday 10/5/11

I've stayed busy with my crafts this past week.  I finished up the table runner and the lap quilt.  Both are now listed in my etsy shop.

I finished the top of the jellyroll type quilt for sewing club at church.  I've taken it in.  We will have sewing club next Tuesday.  The other gals finish up the quilts.
I am currently working on an order for 24 dish scrubbies.  They are purple but for some reason they always show up as blue in photos.  Since taking this picture I have cut my black netting for an order for 12 of those.
And, I've started on another toothbrush rug.  Who would have figured that it's been so long since I made one that I forgot how to start the first stitch??  I had to take it to church and have the lady who taught us how to make them tell me what I was doing wrong.  All I was doing wrong was holding it backwards.  I was trying to start it the same direction that I crochet, but the rugs work the opposite direction.  This one is made with flannel strips I had left over from other projects.  What is in the box is all I have, so I'm not sure just how large it will end up.  It may have to be put aside until I get more materials if it comes out too small.
I have some washcloths to work on for an order.  As much as I would love to make, make, and make more items to put up for sale with the Christmas holiday quickly approaching, I also need to start getting my handmade gifts made too.  I need to get cracking!

WIP Wednesday 9/21 (and 9/14 catch up)

Last week was so busy away from home, mostly with the Kansas State fair in town, but also it was sewing club week.
Since last Tuesday I've not working on anything but finishing up the rest of the cotton washcloths that I had yarn for. I'm happy to say that I did finally get all of those crocheted.  I also worked on the baby bibs but they won't be completed until I find time to get my sewing machine out again.

I have other projects that I hope to complete over this next week. Wish me luck time wise. I also have order for dish scrubbies that will have me making a total of 36 of those at the moment.

Here is the top of the jelly roll quilt that I was putting together for sewing club at church.

Once I got to sewing club last week I sewed edging material on to the jelly roll to make it a larger size.  I found a bottom material and a middle and pinned them all together.  In this photo one of the other gals in club is working on tieing it.

I just had to share our clubs completed quilt that we are sending to Global Missions.  We also were to choose a 2nd one to send.  We  sent the strip quilt that I did the top on and the other gals finished it up with an edge and brown backing.
This is a Christmas table runner top.  It won't take me long to get the back on it and sewn, it's just a matter of getting it done.
That's it for my report this week.  I can always hope that the busiest of my days is over now for awhile.

Wip Wednesday 9/7/11

I'm ashamed to say that this past week has been so busy away from home that I haven't had my sewing machine out since Monday before last!  This means that I didn't do any quilt work this past week.   For those of you who seen my yard sale post you know that I got some amazing deals on fabric and such.  I so want to get in to it and get started on bunches of things.  This week is also super busy and next week is the same.  When do things ever calm down so that I can stay home more often to get things done?

I do have the sewing machine out today for the day, and hopefully most of tomorrow and Friday as well.  I have been working on sewing the fabric bags so far.

Below is a picture of the fabric bags as of last night.  Since I have finished the 2 princess bags.  Since last week the gal added a few more bags to her order.  It's a good thing she's in no hurry to get her order.  I don't like to take this long to make an order, but since she ordered things I hadn't tried to make before she is understanding as well.
I had stopped working on crocheting the washcloths for a couple of days and switched to making dish scrubbies.  We were having a yard sale and I had hoped to sell some (which I didn't).  I made 11 scrubbies before going back to the washcloths.  I've worked on them here and there and everywhere.  I still have quite a few to make with what yarn is next but do have another set of 3 to be listed in my etsy store.
The only other thing I got done on the baby bibs was cutting them out.  I am in hopes of finishing one set to add to my etsy store by Saturday morning.

WIP Wednesday 5/18/11

Welcome to WIP Wednesday.  I've tried to stay  busy around a busy schedule outside of the house.

I laid my quilt out and got the binding put on it.  That's as far as I got, but it won't take me long to sew around the edge and put in just a few more ties here and there.  It will then be listed in my etsy store.

This is how far I've gotten on my toothbrush rug.  I made my goal of putting in all the strips that I already had ready.  I also made my goal of getting a bunch more strips ready.  I'm in hopes that once I put in the strips that I have out now, it will be large enough for the floor space I intend it for.

I got an order in on Monday for dish scrubbies and washcloths, so I am working on those.  My goal is to have the order in the mail by Saturday morning.  After that, I have an order for one of the Minnie baby hats.

That's all for me this week.   Please click the buttons below to join one, or all of the WIP Wednesday blogs that I participate in.  It's very inspiring to see what others are making.
