WIP Wednesday -- At Least Something

I didn't end up putting up a post last Wednesday and I just really hadn't gotten anything done.
I sure haven't done much this past week either.
I am way behind on making my yo-yo's now....so much for that 365.  I didn't even think to take a picture of what I do have made.

I did finish one thing this week....not in my 17 UFO's in 2017 challenge.  A lady at the bowling alley requested that I make her bags for her bowling shoes.  Working on the fly with no pattern, they came out pretty well and she loved them.

Last week was sewing day at church and I got just a few more polyester 9 patches done on the top I am hand sewing.

Friday evening was sit n' sew at the quilt shop.  I got out the Arkansas Crossroads quilt top that I've not worked on for months now.  I had to reorganize, but did get 7 more blocks made for it

I have over half of the hand quilting done on my challenge for quilt guild.  This is a must to finish by the end of this weekend as it's due on Monday!  Wish my luck.

WIP Wednesday -- Two Tops Worked On

I did manage to get the 5 string quilt blocks done in yellow and orange for the soscrappy colors for October.

I took the colorful 5 and dime and ripped the blocks and rows apart.  I hadn't squared them up before putting them together and knew it had to be done.  In the meantime I also finished making the rest of the blocks, got them all squared up and rows sewn.  I just need to sew the 2 halves together and decide what I am going to do for a border.

I also finished sewing together all of the blocks for the Lexington quilt  and just need to sew the 2 halves together on it too.  I need to find the fabrics for the borders on it too.

I did work more on the little doll rugs until I ran out of thin strips for making them.  I won't share those anymore, but did also work on more of the beds too.

I have a quilt retreat this weekend with Cottonwood Quilt Shop and have my things packed to work on there.  I can't wait until next Wednesday to share what I get done there.

WIP Wednesday 1/22/14

That saying about food where you say "my eyes were bigger than my stomach" is true for my sewing in that my brain always thinks I can get more done than I really can.

I had hoped to get 2 strips on my log cabin blocks and then get those all squared up.  Not fast when I am doing 92 of the at a time.
Here is where I ended last night:
I finished the machine quilting around all of my bunnies and this is the layout I have chosen to sew them together.
I have one row put together:
It's not going to be a very large quilt but it's going to make a great child's quilt or lap quilt for sure.

I had intended to make my other 3 blocks for the Goodnight Irene sew along but didn't get that far.
I also had intended to get my fabrics cut for our quilt guild work day on Monday.   I must get those done next to be ready for Monday.  Our community service project this year is making lined bags for the Domestic Violence Center.

I think I have done more sewing already in 2014 than I did all of 2013 and it's feeling great!

WIP Wednesday 1/15/14

I have several projects going all at once, which is nothing unusual. What is unusual is that I have actually been working on all of them.

I joined the Goodnight Irene sew along with Terry's Treasures.  You can find the button on the right side bar and click to find out more.
I love that she is going slow with it.  Just 5 blocks each month for 5 month.  The 6th month is the border blocks and the 7th month is putting it together.
I only have 2 blocks done, but since I have all month, I'm not behind!

Yesterday was the monthly sewing club at church.  I am still working on this quilt that I am doing in quilt as you go.
I brought it home again, and again do hope to at least get the 3rd row put on of 7 before next month's meeting.

I am working on a total of 96 log cabin blocks.  I have found a pattern for a quilt with these scrappy log cabins.  I then have enough left over for 2 wall hangings.
Since taking this picture Monday night I have squared up the other 92 half square triangles for my middles and have one strip sewn onto some of those.

Last Wednesday in my needlers group I worked on my applique bunnies.  Today is Needlers group at the quilt shop.  I will be doing more work on the bunnies.  I have 3 more to embroider, but I think that today I will cut out my centers and backs.   I'm also going to put it together in the quilt as you go way.   I didn't take a picture last week since it's about the same as previous pictures.  I will probably take a picture after I work on them today.

I keep finding myself moving my sewing machine, cutting mat and ironing board into the kitchen or living room.  What I really need to do is get my craft room cleaned up so that I can work in there again.
I didn't get anymore organizing done as far as putting projects in bags, but I have had that on my mind.

WIP Wednesday 11/20/13

I did less sewing this past week than the week before, but still a lot more than I had been doing.
I'm happy with progress that I am making in all ways.

Each month I attend 2 stitch groups.  One is the second Wednesday of the month and is with a few of my quilt guild members.  It's from 1-3 pm.
The second one is the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the quilt shop from 1-4, but most of us do leave by 3.
For months now I have only worked on my applique bunnies at my stitch groups.
I have completed 12 of my 20 bunnies as shown in the photo.  After I work today I am going to bring my box in the house and work on them in the evenings.
I worked a bit more on my remaining 12 log cabin blocks to finish my wall hanging top.  I had hoped to have it done by the 25th for show and share at quilt guild but I would really need to get on it to make that goal.   I am including the 4 blocks that I had together and showed last week along with my progress on the other 12.
Last but not least I have the Penny Patch QAL that I am working on.  I am still a bit behind, but not too bad.  Click the button below my picture to see what it's all about if you would like.  Last week there was a linky included for us to show our progress.
I laid out my blocks.  Oh how I wish I had a design wall!  I messed with it over and over and finally gave up.  This is what I ended up with and then piled them by rows and numbered each pile.  Since taking this picture I did put row 12 together.

WIP Wednesday--Moving Right Along!

No, I didn't make it in to my craft room every day this week, but I did make it in there a couple of days.  That along with sit n' sew at the quilt shop and sewing club at church, I feel like I've gotten a lot done this week.

Here are the pillowcases so far.  I still have fabric to buy for one more, but they are rolling along now.
I ran into a couple of snags working on the quilt top for church, one being that a few of my rows I sewed together backwards.  Then, I thought I didn't have enough of the half square triangles so I went to work to make more.  I had enough!  I had forgotten that I already had one of the big blocks done already when I was counting.  Sheesh!   Give me another 6 months of sewing on this only at sewing club each month and this top might be completed.
The only thing I did in those 2 days sewing in my craft room was to work on more of the blocks with the rectangles.  Both days I only intended to at least sew 2 together.  I ended up with 17 sewn, plus the 3 I had originally sewn and then sewn together.  I will keep making the blocks, as many as I can with the rectangles that I have, and then determine just what I will make with them.
I have also worked on more coasters.  I was able to get more plastic canvas so will continue now to make those until I use up the entire huge ball of yarn.
Here is a picture of what they all look like.  I do have some in my etsy store already in sets of 4, 6, or 8.
I am in hopes to make it to the quilt shop this afternoon for the monthly needlers.  I want to work on the applique bunnies.  They've been sorely neglected!  If I do make it down there I will share a photo of my progress with those next week.
