WIP Wednesday -- More Little Bits

I did finish a set of hanging towels with buttons that a gal has been waiting on, and shipped them out.

It was our annual soup lunch and work day at quilt guild this past Monday.  In the past the day has been dedicated to making charity items.  However, the last couple of years the charity items have been being made and turned in monthly and ongoing out to the different agencies.  It was decided that we could choose to work on items for the boutique booth at the Wichita quilt show if we chose to.

I wanted to try making one of the pin cushion scrap bags while I had people there to help me if needed....and of course I did need help.
I just have the walnut shells to put in and sew the pin cushion part shut for my first one to be complete.

I got the microwave bowl cozies down that I am working on and got the first lines sewn and now am working on getting corners ready for sewing.  My goal is to get this pile finished yet today along with sewing and cutting corners off, and pinning them ready to complete.

The only other thing I did this week was a little work on the jingle bell blocks.  I completed one and have a start on the squares for another one.

Another goal I have to complete today is to get fabrics cut to size to make more composition notebook covers.   I will end this post by asking you to wish me luck that I get done what I need to!

WIP Wednesday --Circles

You may have noticed that I didn't do a WIP Wednesday post this last week.  That was because I did NO sewing.  I really do not like it when I just find no time to sew!

This past week hasn't been much better but at least I did get a little bit done.
I found a couple of times to get out my "penny" circles and work on more of them.  I'm itching to get the wool blanket out and start getting them sewn on, but I MUST work diligently on the yo-yo projects.

I also managed a day to finish cutting my last 4 10 inch squares for the microwave hotpads and have the next step done on those sets.

So many projects and so little time.  I wish I could figure out a way to change that.

WIP Wednesday--State Fair is Over

As I suspected, I didn't do a post last week. Of course, being so busy with the state fair and going there so much as well as 5 days of a fundraiser at church, and a celebration of life for my friends daughter, I did no sewing whatsoever that week.

On a good note, I was so surprised to get 2 white, 3rd place ribbons out of the 4 items I entered into the state fair.  I'm still surprised, in fact.    I wasn't expecting to win anything, just wanted to enter items for the first time ever.
I got white ribbons on my yo-yo table runner and my selvage rug.

This past week I've put in a little sewing time.  I am trying to have this baby blanket done by Monday, but the other WIP going on in my family is my daughter having her baby!  In and out of labor and delivery and they just keep sending her back home.  It is getting ridiculous, as she says, and quite annoying  LOL
They are doing a showing at guild on Monday of quilts made with Eleanor Burns' patterns.  This is the one and only one I have.

While I had my cutting mat out, I got a start on getting microwave hotpads started as well.   It sure was nice to have my sewing machine out again!!

Wish me luck on getting things done---most especially getting the yo-yo projects out that must be done by the end of October at the very latest!

I never expected that a week later I would still be working on just the microwave hotpad sets.  I've been working on them daily.

My picture isn't the best, but here's where I am in the process.  2 sets are complete, 1 set almost complete, and several more in the works.

I am trying to be good and complete these sets before working on anything else.  I'm itchin' to get stitchin' on the drawstring backpacks for Christmas gifts.  With any luck I will at least have the fabrics cut for those by this time next week.

WIP Wednesday Projects

I spent most of the week working on the microwave hotpads for quilt guild.  Once done with the stack of 9 that you see in the picture for quilt guild, I cut the rest of my cotton batting to make sets for sale.
I only ended up having enough for 2 sets plus 1.  I will make that one for us at home.
I chose to put the green fabrics on the top of the pile so I can also post working with green for the soscrappy blog challenge too.

The ladies at church and I are working on this baby blanket for a church member.  Oopsey, had a mistake cut.  I have it at home with me to hopefully fix it.  We will then finish it up together by tieing it.  It's been a challenge and if I remember, I will take a picture of it to share when we get it finished.

I worked on the yo-yo's for quilt guild this past week and I'm almost done with the bags.  I'm taking the advice of a few gals and only doing 25 each of the other fabrics instead of 50 that I did in the sheer fabric.  I plan to finish these up this afternoon at my Needlers group.

So many projects that I want t work on and so little time.  I must get to crocheting the Princess Anna doll before my little granddaughters birthday gets here!  That is next on my list to work on and finish before working on anything else.

WIP Wednesday 12/2/15

Oh how I am feeling the Christmas crunch!  Of course it's my own fault for procrastinating and just not having the sewing motivation that I like to have.

First of all, I got in my new sewing machine!  It was to be delivered on Friday, but due to the ice storms it came in on Monday.
I'm very pleased with it and have a lot to learn on how to use it.

Wanting to get right to using the machine, I went back to work on the microwave hot dish potholders that I am making for gifts.  It took all I had not to mark one and sew it, but I forced myself to get them all marked.  I've not started sewing on them yet, but that comes later today.  Prep work for projects a lot of times takes a lot longer than actually making the item.

I had been working on the dish scrubbies for the orders of those and had stopped on the hotpads until my machine got here.  I still have lots of scrubbies to also get made in time as they will also be for gifts from the person that is buying them from me.

How are you doing on gifts that you are making??
