WIP Wednesday -- Almost Done!!

I didn't realize until late last Wednesday that I didn't do a WIP post last week.  I went out of town to babysit on Wednesday and just plain forgot.  I hadn't worked on anything except the yo-yo projects.

I am finally almost done with them!!  You might notice in the picture the pins.  Those are the yo-yo's that I have left to "repair".  I am not happy with them as they aren't tight enough.

I do plan to finish this TODAY!   Once these are done I really must concentrate on getting my Christmas gifts made.

I've been getting more items listed in my Etsy shop.  I still have several items to get listed.

Short blog post this week.   I link up with the following blogs:

I found these on Amazon this morning just by chance and have added both to my wish list!!!  I hope to buy both very soon!

WIP Wednesday-- Circles and Yo-Yo's

Sewing time has been much shorter than I like as usual.  I'm still trying to figure out how to remedy that.
I've been looking forward to the quilt shops quilt retreat this weekend, but as of right now I don't have the money to pay to go.  I'm still in hopes of getting the money by tomorrow, but it's not looking promising.  I keep trying to figure out how to have pretty much the same sewing time at home as I would at the retreat.  It's pretty impossible and why I feel the need to the retreats and the hours of time that is dedicated just to sewing!

I put more rows on the Christmas yo-yo table runner until once again I ran out of yo-yo's.  I'm still making more with the hope that this time I finally will have enough to finish the table runner and then move on to making the 2nd valance.  Wish me luck!

By my figures I still have 73 more yo-yo's to put on to finish the table runner.

I've had a few down times while waiting to get more circles put together for my penny rug.  I'm hoping the next picture I get to share with you is some of the circles actually sewn on to the blanket for the rug.

WIP Wednesday -- Lots To Share This Week

It takes a day away from home sewing for me to really get motivated, and that's what I did last Friday.
My day started in Inman, Kansas where I met with a group of ladies to sew wheelchair quilts for residents of the Pleasantview Home.   What a fun day!!  9 am to 4 pm with fun, food, fellowship and sewing.  Who could ask for a better day than that?

Here are the 2 quilts that I completed that day and I snapped a couple of pictures of others working as well.

That same day was the monthly sit n' sew at the local quilt shop from 6 to 10 pm.  I finally got back to work on the yo-yo projects.   I only put in one more row on the table runner, but from that night until yesterday, I made more yo-yo's.  Hopefully I made enough to actually finish these projects.

I got the next step done on the sets of microwave hotpads that I am making.

I got the Care Bear panels cut and have a nice start on getting those made up for little Amelia's Christmas gifts.

And, last, but not least, the ladies met at church yesterday for our monthly sewing day.  We are working on making quilts for Headstart children.   I did the finishing on one just like this one while the ladies tied this one.  I brought this one home to finish up.

If I can keep up this amount of sewing, I will be overjoyed, and I need to too if I expect to actually get things done!!

Oh yes, I also finished a baby rag quilt that is now listed in my Etsy shop, plus got another drawstring backpack listed for sale.

WIP Wednesday --Circles

You may have noticed that I didn't do a WIP Wednesday post this last week.  That was because I did NO sewing.  I really do not like it when I just find no time to sew!

This past week hasn't been much better but at least I did get a little bit done.
I found a couple of times to get out my "penny" circles and work on more of them.  I'm itching to get the wool blanket out and start getting them sewn on, but I MUST work diligently on the yo-yo projects.

I also managed a day to finish cutting my last 4 10 inch squares for the microwave hotpads and have the next step done on those sets.

So many projects and so little time.  I wish I could figure out a way to change that.

WIP Wednesday -- New Grandbaby

The biggest WIP this past week has been all about the WIP we've been waiting on for 9 months!

Little Jordan Riley was born Monday September 25th at 8:17 pm weighing in at 8 lbs and 4 oz.

I did, however, get to work on my pennies for my penny rug while we watched a movie at church Sunday after noon, and while waiting for little man to make an appearance.

I must must must get back to work on the yo-yo projects so wish me luck with that!!

WIP Wednesday--State Fair is Over

As I suspected, I didn't do a post last week. Of course, being so busy with the state fair and going there so much as well as 5 days of a fundraiser at church, and a celebration of life for my friends daughter, I did no sewing whatsoever that week.

On a good note, I was so surprised to get 2 white, 3rd place ribbons out of the 4 items I entered into the state fair.  I'm still surprised, in fact.    I wasn't expecting to win anything, just wanted to enter items for the first time ever.
I got white ribbons on my yo-yo table runner and my selvage rug.

This past week I've put in a little sewing time.  I am trying to have this baby blanket done by Monday, but the other WIP going on in my family is my daughter having her baby!  In and out of labor and delivery and they just keep sending her back home.  It is getting ridiculous, as she says, and quite annoying  LOL
They are doing a showing at guild on Monday of quilts made with Eleanor Burns' patterns.  This is the one and only one I have.

While I had my cutting mat out, I got a start on getting microwave hotpads started as well.   It sure was nice to have my sewing machine out again!!

Wish me luck on getting things done---most especially getting the yo-yo projects out that must be done by the end of October at the very latest!

WIP Wednesday --Items to the State Fair

Well, I got my 4 entries taken to the state fair, but I was not able to finish the table runner.  In fact, it's only half done.
It's pretty tedious for me to work with the invisible thread, then I found that I didn't have enough red and green yo-yo's made.

I ended up entering the 12 x 34 inch valance that I am done with as a table runner in the holiday section.  This one that I am working on is to be 18 x 40 for the table runner.  I do still also have the second valance to get made.

That is all that I worked on this past week.  I was determined to finish it but just couldn't.  Now I've not worked on it for days....or anything else for that matter.
Hopefully I can get back in the swing of sewing every day again.   This yo-yo project needs to take top priority to work on daily.

Our state fair starts Friday and I will be busy with a fund raiser at church as well as going to the fair of course.  If I don't post next week it will be because I did nothing.......which won't surprise me at all.
