Shop Hop Saturday!! 1/15/11

Business wise I didn't get a lot accomplished this week.

I did get some more updating done with my homeschoolbuy auctions.  This is a slow going process as I've let over half of them end and now have to wade through to re list the books.  I will get there!

Otherwise, I started ironing material and cutting strips for my next quilt.  I had to find a day that I had time to finish up the quilt I had previously been working on.  I found that time yesterday and stayed up until after 1 am last night to finish it up.  It's pictured below and is now listed in my etsy store!

WIP Wednesday 1/12/11

Good Morning!  Welcome to WIP Wednesday  in conjunction with Every Day Crochet.  Please click the button at the bottom of my post to join in the fun, or to see what others have been working on.

I spent a couple of days just working on dish scrubbies, so my jar is getting fuller:

I finished sewing together the top of the quilt I've been working on.  My next step is to find the time to set up the tables upstairs and get it laid out and pinned.  Finding that time is hard for me since that does take awhile.  It won't be today like it could have been because I'm heading to the dentist soon to have these 4 teeth pulled.

Sewing club ended up being cancelled yesterday due to the weather, so I cut out the squares and got them cut down ready to be sewn.  This won't happen until club meets again as one of the gals wants to show me a different way to put them together.

I'm anxious to start on my own next strip quilt.  I was sick in bed over the weekend, but I had my daughter bring in my ironing board and material and I started ironing what I have to make the quilt.  I still have about as much to get done, as what I got ironed and cut that you see below.  I'm pretty well planning on staying in bed after the dentist so plan on trying to iron the rest of the material this afternoon.  I don't want to start the actual squares until all of the material is cut.  I like to try to alternate evenly putting on the strips by all the material that I have.

I'm still reading If God Is Good.  I plan on the book review for it on Saturday.  I will need to be reading all I can in it between now and then.

Until next week....hop on over and check out what others are up to.  We would love to have you join us each week as well with your own WIP's.

Mailbox Monday 1/10/2011

Good Morning and welcome to my Mailbox Monday post.  Please click the button at the end of my post to join along in the fun with afrugalfriend.net.  It's neat to see what others are getting in each week free.

Not much to speak of for mail this week other than a lot of magazines.

magazines: (all free subscriptions)
Sports Illustrated
People
Good Housekeeping
Car & Driver
Forbes
Bloomberg Business Week
Entertainment Weekly

Otherwise I just got in one other piece of hausernet mail and some Marlboro coupons.

Hard to believe isn't it?  Really means I need to start paying attention to the freebies that others are sharing.

I did forget to mention last week that in my church mailbox was my check for $50 for cleaning in December.

The Last Apprentice Clash of the Demons Book Review

The Last Apprentice  Clash of the Demons by Joseph Delaney.

The Last Apprentice Clash of the Demons is a great book for fantasy fans.  I picked it up at the public library, actually on audio.  It comes on 6 CD and is 7 hours long.

Fantasy is not my usual genre of books.  I picked it up thinking that my teenager and my boyfriend would enjoy listening to it with me.  My teenager did listen in and tried to keep up with the story for me.  My boyfriend was never around while we listened to it.

In Clash of the Demons we find Thomas Ward, who is apprentice to the County's Spook.  As I listened it took me awhile to realize that the Spooks were the good guys.
Thomas is charged with protecting the land from the boggarts, witched and all other supernatural threats.  His training will be put to the test.
Tom's mother, Mam comes on the scene wanting Thomas to help her fight a dire threat--the Ordeen.  The Ordeen is returning to the dimension with a horde of more bloodthirsty demons.
Mam helps put together a force to battle the demons, which includes Tom's friend Alice.  We find out that Alice is the devil's daughter, but that doesn't mean that she is evil.

The book is very grphic is what is happening.  I lost track many times as I was listening to it.  Hey, there was even a feral something or other names Marsha.  Oh oh!

The end is great and will leave you wanting to get the 7th installment.  (This one is the 6th in the series.)

As I said, fantasy is not my chosen genre of reading, but for those that love to read fantasy, this is a must read.

WIP Wednesday 1/5/11

Welcome to WIP Wednesday in conjunction with Every Day Crochet.  Please click the button at the end of my post to join in on the fun, or just to see what others are working on this week.

I have been making a few dish scrubbies, but decided to fill the jar some more before putting in another photo of those.  I'm getting a purple set into my etsy store when I am done with this post.

I've been working on my current quilt.  When I took the photo I still had 3 more rows of squares to sew together before starting to put all the rows together.  This morning I have sewn those 3 rows.  Hopefully by next week I will have the top sewn and have it pinned to the back and middle.

I've also been working on a new toothbrush rug this week.  I'm liking the colors so far.

Another WIP is a new blog challenge I am doing.  52 Books in 52 Weeks.  You can click the link at the top of this page to learn more about it.  You are free to join in the challenge any time.

And, my good friend Ruthi has started a Saturday Blog Hop called Shop Hop.  I know most of you that read my WIP posts each week have online stores.  I would love to see you join in on sharing your shops with this blog hop.  You can see my orginal post here:

Upcoming Review for NaturalSkinShop.com

I will be doing a review for NaturalSkinCare.com soon, so be on the look out.

I've chosen the Green Tea Anti-Aging SPF 30+ Moisturizer  http://www.naturalskinshop.com/Green_Tea_SPF_p/spf.gtp.htm) as the product I will review.

I've chosen this product because as I'm getting older, I've tended to neglect my skin and it's really starting to show.  This product sounds like the perfect one for me to try.

Disclaimer:  I will be receiving a product sample to review from NaturalSkinShop.com through a promotion on SheBlogs.org.  All opinions of the product will be my own.

I am so sorry for posting so late this week!

Please list your giveaways here.  Link directly to the giveaway itself, not your blog home.  Be sure to put when the giveaway ends.
