WIP Wednesday -- Away From Home

I left Sunday afternoon to spend the week away with hubby.  My main objective?  To have time to sew while he's at work.
Monday seemed to go pretty well as I got a lot of different things worked on.
I'm still working, and still have goals, but so far it's not looking like a single thing that I brought with me will be done.  Not unless I really get busy!

I'm almost done sewing the binding onto my charming stars quilt.

I have worked on both double folded hotpads and microwave cozies.  You might notice on the corner of my table that I also have been doing some work on the plastic canvas blocks as well.

I worked preparing double towel scarves for completion.

I finally finished the quilting on this table runner.  Now I'm debating on going ahead and sewing the binding on without trimming first, since I didn't bring along a cutting mat and rotary cutter.

All in all, I am happy with what I have been able to get done.  I need time away for sewing since it's so hard to get my machine out at home!   I still have Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning to see what else I can get done.

WIP Wednesday -- Little Done

It's just not been good for me, time wise, to get much sewing done.
I tried one day to get out my sewing machine, but an 8 month old that is now pulling himself up, and my machine on the table, just doesn't mix.

I am always working off and on on filling in the plastic canvas squares for the jingle bell blocks, but I don't want to take a picture until I have my whole pile filled in.

At sit n' sew I did a little more work towards completing the blocks on my Arkansas Crossroads quilt.  No picture as it wasn't enough to warrant one.
Instead, I spent most of the sit n' sew time putting the borders on my Zipped Kitties.

Otherwise the only thing that I did this past week was to cut up a panel with horses to make into pillows.  These will go to church for the youth to stuff, and then donated to the police and fire department.

Next week I am going out of town for the week with hubby.   My plan is to sew while he's at work and work on my computer stuff in the evenings when he is sleeping.  I have projects packed to finish....items to be listed in my Etsy shop.  However, I find myself wanting to take a couple of other projects that I can at least progress on.   I guess next week's post will tell you what I decided  LOL.

In the meantime, I link up with the following blogs.  I do hope you will check each of them out.

WIP Wednesday -- Retreat

I want to start by saying that I won't be posting next Wednesday.  I will be gone on a bus trip with my quilt guild to Lincoln, NE to the National Quilt Museum.  We are doing a mini shop hop on the trip as well, stopping at 3 shops along the way.  My plan is to take my hexagons to work on for the trip.

The retreat was great as always.  I only took the one project to work on, other than making the President's block for guild.
I had thrown in a bag of fabrics left over from another project as well.
I did make the President's block first, then I took that bag of fabric and did some cutting.

You can see the block in the picture as well as cutting for fabric for making the double towel scarves, strips for a toothbrush rug, 10 inch squares for microwave cozies, and 5 inch squares for future projects.

I really did spend the rest of the retreat time working on my string block quilt.  This is how far I got.  I found that I still need to make 2 purple string blocks before adding anymore to the quilt.  Hopefully I can get that done in the next 2 weeks before I post again!

As far as the rest of the week,  aside from working some in organizing my craft room (very little done), I only worked on making the plastic canvas jingle bell blocks.   I decided that I wanted to make the sets I sell in my Etsy shop a set of 3 instead of 2.

Looks like that's it for this week.  Happy Sewing and Crafting!

WIP Wednesday -- Upcoming Retreat Etc

I'm anticipating the upcoming quilt retreat this Friday and Saturday.  I was just in my sewing/craft room and added a little more fabric to my project bag.  The big bag is totally packed so all I have to do Friday morning is grab the bag, my sewing machine, and my bag of food and go!

I've gotten back to my cleaning and organizing in my sewing room as well.  I cleared one large shelf and have a start of putting the items I have for sale in my Etsy shop on the shelves for easy access when something is ordered.   It's going to be a long process to get my room into the order it should be.

This week I did work on a few things.

I worked more on the plarn bedroll.  I would like to say that when I crochet that big ball of plarn in that it will be done, but I know better.  It will take at least another ball that large, and maybe even another one after that!

According to my pictures, it looks like the only other thing I did this week was get a start on 2 flannel rag quilts.  I cut the rest of the flannel I had, and got a start on sewing rows.  I need more flannel to finish both the larger and smaller quilt.  Rag quilts will always be an ongoing project for me.  As I find flannel at yard sales etc, I will just cut and make.

I did have a finish this week.  I finally finished sewing down the binding on the braid baby quilt and got it put up for sale.

Hopefully next week I will have some nice progress on my rainbow string quilt to show you after working on it at the retreat this weekend.  Past making a President's block for guild, it's the only project I intend to work on this weekend.

I link up with the following blogs.  I hope you will give each of them a visit.

WIP Wednesday -- Penny Rug

Well, babysitting grandchildren, 2 of which are babies, is really lessening my sewing time  😞  I love them, but I must figure out how to get in sewing time!

I only sewed a few minutes one day, finishing up a set of the microwave hotpad/cozies.  I posted a set on Letgo to see how that goes.

I also got motivated for just one day to work more on clearing out and organizing in my craft/sewing room.  Once again someone ordered something from my Etsy shop and I found the item to be in the very bottom tote.  My goal is to clear a path, then clear off the bigger shelf, then put my items for sale on the shelf.  That way when something sells, I can go right to it instead of digging into totes.
In the process I will also see what I have completed that is not listed for sale as well.

I have pulled out the Penny Rug that I started some time back.  I took a picture of my original progress to remind you.  I included the circles that I have completed and ready to sew on as well.
Now I'm itching to start sewing the completed circles onto the wool blanket.   Cross your fingers for me that I get to at least work on this rug a little each day!

That's it for my report this week.  With any luck at all, I will get things figured out and have a lot more to report next Wednesday.  It's sit n' sew at the quilt shop this Friday.  Barring nothing goes wrong, I fully intend to finally get back to working on the Arkansas Crossroads quilt top.

I link up with the following blogs.  I hope you will hop over and check them out as well.

WIP Wednesday -- 6 More Done

Still frustrated over lack of time for sewing, I only sewed this past week Friday night at Sit N Sew at the local quilt shop.
I managed to get 6 more covered composition notebooks done  towards my Christmas gifts.  This makes a total of 23 done.

I intend to make 35 total as that's how many notebooks I have, however, not all of them will be used for Christmas.

I know for sure that the pink with the girls on it is going to my 13 yr old granddaughter.  I'm really thinking the pebble print should go to my 8 yr old grandson as he is constantly collecting rocks in his pockets.

I fully intend to sew this evening, and both Friday and Saturday evening.  Wish my luck to get these done!  With any luck, maybe next week's post can show that they are not only done, but also wrapped!

Sales in my Etsy shop are not as I had hoped they would be.  I've only sold a set of the microwave hotpads/cozies this week.  I am still in hopes of selling the 2 double towel scarfs that I made with the Christmas print fabric.
