WIP Wednesday 1/29/14

This has been a sewing week for me.  At least most days.

Let me start out by showing my 5 blocks for January in the Goodnight Irene sew along, which is hosted by Terry's Treasures.   See the button on the right for more information and to click over.  There is a linky on her sidebar with the progress of others who are sewing along.

The first 16 patch that I did, I worked in rows.  The other 2 I worked first into 4 patches and then together.  This works out so much better for me as I am then able to square each 4 patch to 4 inches before sewing them together.

Now let me tell you that my pre-cut smaller squares were 2 1/4 instead of 2 1/2, so my squares for the other blocks are 4 inches instead of 4 1/2 inches.

I've also not decided yet if I am going to stop at 5 rows of 5 or make this one larger.

Next up is the log cabin blocks that I am working on.  92 of them at a time, 1 strip at a time is taking some time to get done.  Also, I keep running out of what I cut for strips and having to dig in my stash to find something else.
See, I cut the strips from what I had and then divided those into envelopes marked for what round.  It's just taking a lot more fabric than I thought.
I'm on the 1st 'round' of the darker side.
`Here we are to my progress on the applique bunny quilt.  I'm a little disappointed on just how small this is going to turn out.  It will have to be for a child, or a nice lap quilt.  Months and months and months of working on this one.  2nd row of 5 is together.

Now, I have joined in on the 2014 Project UFO and NewFO sponsored by Joanie's Trendy Quilts.
See to the right for the button and click for more information.
From this week out I will be posting my list as well as updates on each item each week.
This is something I've been wanting to do for a long time so I was glad to see this to motivate me.

UFO's:
Log Cabin quilt
2 Log Cabin wall hangings
Rectangle quilt
2 rectangle table runners
challenge wall hanging
GoodNight Irene quilt/wall hanging

Yo-Yo Table runner

NewFO's
Sunflower table runner and matching placemats

WIP Wednesday---First Post of 2014!

Here we are to 2014.
I have goals for my sewing and crafts.
I'm still in the process of organizing my projects, but I am getting closer to being done with that.
I plan to do some sort of sewing each and every day, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Since my crafts involve selling them online, I really need to step up my game.  Not only in getting things done, but also promoting myself as well.

Here is what I've been up to this past week.

I have the binding on the Penny Patch quilt from the QAL (that was supposed to be done by Dec. 20) and I'm ready to start handing sewing it down.
At my last stitch group I got all of my applique bunny blocks squared up.  I still do have 5 of the 20 of them to finish embroidering around.
Everyone is asking me if I will have the blanket done by Easter---I don't honestly know!
I am getting closer to getting this toothbrush rug done.  It's an experiment one to find out how large a rug comes out when I have cut up an entire full size sheet set.  I actually love how it's all the same color.

WIP Wednesday 11/20/13

I did less sewing this past week than the week before, but still a lot more than I had been doing.
I'm happy with progress that I am making in all ways.

Each month I attend 2 stitch groups.  One is the second Wednesday of the month and is with a few of my quilt guild members.  It's from 1-3 pm.
The second one is the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the quilt shop from 1-4, but most of us do leave by 3.
For months now I have only worked on my applique bunnies at my stitch groups.
I have completed 12 of my 20 bunnies as shown in the photo.  After I work today I am going to bring my box in the house and work on them in the evenings.
I worked a bit more on my remaining 12 log cabin blocks to finish my wall hanging top.  I had hoped to have it done by the 25th for show and share at quilt guild but I would really need to get on it to make that goal.   I am including the 4 blocks that I had together and showed last week along with my progress on the other 12.
Last but not least I have the Penny Patch QAL that I am working on.  I am still a bit behind, but not too bad.  Click the button below my picture to see what it's all about if you would like.  Last week there was a linky included for us to show our progress.
I laid out my blocks.  Oh how I wish I had a design wall!  I messed with it over and over and finally gave up.  This is what I ended up with and then piled them by rows and numbered each pile.  Since taking this picture I did put row 12 together.

WIP Wednesday--I've Been Working!!

Good Wednesday to all.  I've been working pretty hard the last 2 weeks.  I bet I've done more sewing the last 2 weeks than I have the past few months.  It feels good.
I didn't do a post last week....at least I don't think I did.  I think Wednesday got away from me.  I was to have an online party, but it ended up being cancelled.

So......here are some of the things that I am working on:

I have worked on my bunnies some on the go.  Not so much, but they are moving along.  I have 3 of 20 done.  There are 2 others in the photo that I have a start on.
I decided to make all my Christmas sacks hand made this year.  I had my daughter help me work on them too.  I was one short, but they are all made now, and I've even started working on filling them.  I have fun with the bags.
I finally got around to starting on the crochet topped hand towels that I am making for gifts.  I stopped after one.  I've decided it's best to sew across the top with a nice stitch for extra strength.  I will be heading in to do that as soon as I am done with this post.
Last but not least, let's see what we can make out from all this stuff on my craft desk!!
I have a few baby bibs to finish up.  I am working on a special order of fabric bags.  I have a few more of the folded hot pads to complete.  And, I have 3 plastic bag holders to complete.  The plastic bag holders will be Christmas gifts.

I am now part of a stitch group through the quilt guild.  I look forward to that starting.  Anything that helps me to keep on stitching is so much fun for me.

I can't wait to look around and see what others are up to.   I am linking up with the following blogs:

WIP Wednesday--Bunny Blocks and Granny Squares

It's been a week of bunny blocks and granny squares.

Let's start with the bunny squares.  Thanks to 4 hours at sit n' sew at the local quilt shop, I was able to get all my bunny blocks cut and most all of the bunnies basted on.  I finished the basting, as well as completing one of the bunny blocks while out and about waiting for others in my van.  The plan on those is to keep the box in my van for handwork while waiting.  I am going to be joining a stitch group for handwork as well, so we will see when that starts and what work I can plan while with the group.

I have 20 bunnies.  If I stick with these and just butt them next to each other with no sashing, it's not going to be a very large quilt.  Time will tell on what I decide to do here.

Now for my granny squares.  As you know, this was a Granny a Day 2012 challenge put out by the Hooked blog.  Click the button to check out her blog.  I have completed my blanket and my pillow both and I am done for the year.    I was going to make you all wait to see the finished products but decided not to.   I have a total of 340 squares in the blanket and pillow combined and that would have taken me to December 5.
