Writer's Unite 4/9/15

MarshasSpot

Last week was the usual chaotic holiday week.  I love them for the family time though.  The reason for the holiday is also special.
I got a little behind in my posting, skipping writing anything on both Saturday and Sunday.
I have caught up now.  In fact, for the moment, all of my giveaway posts are taken care of.  I do still have 2 reviews to get written up.

I've only been doing one post a day on bubblews, then doing some interacting.  My heart just isn't in it.  I do want to stay active and help out those others who are still active there.  I don't know where these promised changes are though.....or what they are going to bring.  Time will tell, as I always say.

How was your Easter holiday and your writing week?

Frugal Friday With Marsha--Week in Review

MarshasSpot

Welcome to the first Friday in April, which is also Good Friday.
Are you ready for Easter?  I'm ready for Easter itself, but not for the family gathering.
We will meet at our house.  Hopefully all 4 of my children will be here.  I know that my 3 daughters will be as well as 9 of the grandchildren.
It will be a good day of family, church, and celebrating the risen Christ.

This week has seemed to have flown by.  It's double coupon week at KMart this week.  I only had the opportunity to shop once, but I am going to be happy about that.  Now that I'm more familiar with it and have more coupons, I can look forward to it each time they have it.
I spent $2.50 out of pocket for what you see in the picture.  If you would like to see the breakdown, you can read it HERE in my bubblews post.

I shopped at Target too.  Nothing to really brag about as I did spend $17.68 for what is in the picture, plus an additional dust pan that I gave my daughter.  However, I only used gift cards that I've earned or gotten back for purchases and I received back $10 in gift cards for my purchases.
I also added a few more things to my Christmas stash.  Again, if you would like to see the full breakdown, you will find it HERE in my bubblews post.

Back to Easter.  Family gatherings are a shared cost.  Each family brings part of the meal.  I'm sure many families do it this way and it means that no one is having to pay out all of the expense.
Hubby and I got the ham, one daughter is supplying all of the candy for the egg hunt, another daughter is bringing the fruit and veggies, my sister-in-law is bring salad.  Not sure yet what the other are bringing but it's going to be good eating and plenty of it.

How has your week been?

Frugal Friday Link up--5 Uses for Sugar

Good Friday to all...and today is Good Friday!

It's been a good week. We've been using foods from the freezer and cabinets for our meals. We splurged Tuesday evening and ate at church for family fun bingo night. There were free rootbeer floats.
We are preparing for Easter dinner. Steve bought a huge ham awhile back when they were on sale for $1 a pound. We are delegating the other foods for the meal to other family members. I bought a couple bags of candy on sale and using a coupon. My oldest daughter will provide most of the other candy to stuff the plastic eggs.
I do look forward to a great family day in celebration of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus.

I've been gifted with a LOT of nylon netting. I'm working at getting it all cut and made in to dish scrubbies. Also, I am working away at getting all my coupons cut and in order. I really must stop allowing myself to get behind in this. I can't save if I don't know there is a coupon, or if I do know, I can't find it!

Today I am sharing 5 uses for sugar from the 99 Cent Solutions book:

1. Scrub on a healthy glow. Mix 1/4 cup olive oil with 1/4 cup granulated sugar and use it like soap in the shower. Scrub your arms, legs, shoulders, and gently your face. Rinse well, pat dry, and moisturize. Feel like you just came out of a salon or just returned from a beach vacation. (This same mix will also safely scrub oil or paint off your hands.)

2. Get rid of roaches. Instead of using toxic chemicals (especially if you have children or pets in the house), mix half sugar and half baking soda and scatter this in corners and behind cabinets. This is non-toxic, but poison to the roaches. The sugar will attract them to eat it, and the baking soda will kill them. Repeat until the roaches are gone.

3.Cure a chile burn. The chemical that burns in chiles is capsaicin, which bods to the pain receptors in your tongue. All the cold water in the world isn't going to fix it. Next time the food is too spicy hot for you, take a spoonful of sugar and eat it instead. Sugar breaks the bonds right away.

4. Keep cheese fresher. Put a few sugar cubes in the sealed bag of hard cheese. The sugar helps prevent mold from forming. This also works with cake or a loaf of pumpkin bread. Just add a few sugar cubes to the container and it will take moist for days longer.

5. Prevent killer worms in your garden. A 250 sq. ft. garden takes a 5 lb bag of sugar. Spread the sugar over the soil in the spring while preparing the ground. This will prevent the nematode worms from ever getting started in your garden. Nematode worms are microscopic parasites that attack roots, destroying the plants and all your hard work.

Resolutions Journal Week 9--March 27--April 2

Oh my....I don't feel like I accomplished much this week towards my goals.

I did have opportunity to read my current book, Sins of the Flesh, on 3 days.  I'm pretty close to finishing up the book now.

The only thing I did craft related was crochet 2 dish scrubbies and 2 washcloths.  These are part of my blog giveaway, where there will be 2 winners.  If you missed the post, you can find it at Win a Washcloth/Dish Scrubbie Gift Set!

I have been keeping up with posting to my blog each day.  A lot of this is thanks to the current campaign with bzzagent for the movie BABIES.  If you've not checked those posts out, please do.  For each click I get on what I post I earn 1 point towards winning some great baby prizes.  Winning would be nice since I have young grandchildren.  :)

I did build a squidoo lens that I am excited about.  Our Garden 2010
I will be updating this lens as it grows, as we harvest, and will be keeping track of costs as well as the worth of the harvest as well.
(this is what we spent most of Wednesday doing, and Wednesday evening I built the lens with photos)

I also updated my Legos lens.

I've been doing my daily posts on gather as well as keeping up with my groups there.  Today I did 2 pretty nice shopping trips.

It's been a busy week as usual away from home...I'm not sure that will ever stop!

I'm in the middle of making up Easter bags for my kids and grandkids right now. I was able to buy the goodies at good deals at Walgreen's using the register rewards that I earned Sunday.  I had the cello bags in my stash from being a Cello In a Box Affiliate.  We will have an egg hunt here on Sunday as well as a bbq since the weather is to be good.  (and we have the foods already for a bbq without having to spend any more money.)

Here's wishing everyone a very Blessed Easter!

Monday April 13

Good Morning! I hope everyone had a nice Easter.
Yesterday was a nice day...despite the weather. Church was great. We had to have the egg hunt for the kids inside the church due to the rain. It was raining when I woke up in the morning and still raining when I went to bed last night. They are calling for rain every day in the forecast through Saturday. I guess it's the April showers to bring those May flowers.
I really am wanting to get my garden area ready and get to planting.

Today is my moderate cleaning day upstairs. I've done some dishes and will head up to sweep and mop the kitchen, then vacuum all the carpets after I am done with my blog. I've already snapped at my mom this morning..she just had to start making comments on how I wash dishes, telling me it didn't look like I was rinsing them very well, then going on to ask me if I was ever taught how to do dishes. I screamed at her asking her if she wanted me to do dishes or not, and I told her that she needed to shut up. I hate myself when I act like that. For one thing is the quitting smoking thing, for another it's just my mother's attitude that if you don't do something the same way she does then you aren't doing it right...that is for everything not just the dishes. Ok...done with that rant! Yes, I do love my mother and I do appreciate her, and I am thankful for her.

I've been doing a lot of posting on gather in regards to our Easter holiday. I got stuck yesterday....I got one video in, which took an hour to load, the 2nd one I tried never did load. I got a lot of crocheting on this last craft order while I waited! I will restart the computer today before I try uploading any more videos today. If interested, you can click my gather button to the left and go check out the photos, posts and videos that I have put in.

No plans outside of the house today other than visiting my son this evening. This is our last week to visit, he gets out on Saturday. For those that don't know, he is spending 90 days in jail for driving on a suspended license. I sure hope he doesn't do this again! I have plenty for him to help with once he's out. I need his help with the van, my tv went out, and yesterday the dryer quit working.
Oh, I do also need to walk to the Dollar store and buy cat litter and trashbags, so hoping it won't be raining this afternoon so I can get that done.

Until tommorrow, he's wishing you a good Monday,
Marsha

Saturday April 11

Happy Saturday!
Looks like todays high is to be 64 and tomorrow back down to only 50 for a high.
We are heading out soon to the church where the kids go for Awanas for an Easter egg hunt.
Once home I am starting on our Easter Dinner. We are doing our dinner and egg hunt at home today. Tomorrow the grandkids go with their father right after church is over.

I sure felt like I had a very productive day yesterday. It was a nice feeling after week of feeling like I wasn't getting much done. I don't expect to get much done today or tomorrow except Holiday things, and I am ok with that.

I updated my squidoo lens on my Crafts As Gifts. It really needed to be updated for sure!
I also wrote a couple extra posts on gather...nothing important really, rants mostly. I was feeling frustrated with not smoking, but I made it through. Now, to make it through today, tomorrow and onward. I know each day without smoking will be even better than the day before until my craving is gone.

I got in my Cranenergy drink from gather to try and to review. I will start today to replace my afternoon can of Dr. Pepper with the Cranenergy to see what it does for me.

I won't be posting a blog tomorrow so I will end today by saying:

Friday April 10

Good Morning! It's Good Friday, and I do believe it's going to be a great Friday.
We had lots of rain and wind last night. So much rain that the driveway is flooded. Now they say skies will stay clear until Easter Sunday. If it's going to rain on Sunday I hope it waits until evening like it did last night.

Yesterday was a busy day, today will be a busy day...so will Saturday and Sunday. It's all good, as I've smoked my last cigarette and I am bound and determined to keep it that way!
I've done dishes this morning, put pinto beans and seasoning in the crockpot to freeze portions for refried beans, and I have the eggs boiled for the kids to dye later.
Lots of housework to be done, things to do on the computer, crafts to get completed to mail to customers, the list goes on and on.

I did a bunch of posting on gather yesterday here and there. I am going to direct you to my post home page if you are interested. I wrote about my shopping, Jasmine's vegetarian meal, our walk and a couple of days ago about my Walgreens shopping. Marsha's Gather posts home page

No school for the kids today and I can hear from upstairs that they are already driving my mother insane....if they come down here they know they have to help me pick up their toys...they tend to avoid being down here when they know they have to clean up LOL I am going to get busy now on getting in clean...

Here's to a great start to your Easter weekend!
