TGIFF--Flowered Quilt is Done!

I almost can't believe it.  The flowered quilt is finally done, faults and all.  I intended for this one to be completed in February when I was privileged to have the chance to host the TGIFF linky here in my blog.

Ok, so most months the only work it got done on it was at the monthly sit n' sew at the quilt shop.  That was after I kind of got tired of working on it.

Also, I am taking part in my first sampler at the quilt shop.  This one is a 20 month sampler.  There are a couple of months when it's cancelled due to other things going on at the quilt shop, so the last square won't be handed out until February 2014.  That seems so so far away.
It's Every Barn Tells a Story.  The first block is the Ohio Star, and here is my completed block:

 I do look forward to each month learning how to make yet another block.

 

WIP Wednesday 3/21/12--My Camera is in England but......

......I made sure to get pics for this week before sending it off with my daughter.  Yes, I sent my camera to England with my daughter, in the hopes that she doesn't lose it while she is there!  Of course that she also gets tons of pictures taken.  She doesn't return until the evening next Wednesday so pictures will be about none next week...unless I try to figure out how to save my cell phone pics to the computer.

I've gotten more work done on the cross magnets while out and about but didn't take a picture.  I think I made 7 or 8 more and have magnets for 12 more.  They are sometimes good sellers at our garage sales, which will be starting soon.

I worked more on the flower quilt I am working on:

 I am happy with my progress on the scrappy quilt for sewing club at church....just 2 more rows to sew together, and they are pinned ready to be sewn.  This one has been fun...like putting together a puzzle and I love the way it looks.  I thought of making one to put up for sale, then thought no, but now I am thinking why not?  It takes forever, but hopefully eventually I would get it done.

 We are on Day 81 of the Granny a Day 2012 challenge.  I am worked through next week with a picture so I will at least have that to share next Wednesday.  You might notice that I have started putting the edging on as well as far as I could.  That's Molly posing pretty on the bed with it.

 The remainder of this week must be working on the other 2 walker bags for quilt guild.  They need to be turned in on Monday.  No sewing today----I stayed up until 4 am watching my daughters flight to London online---and it's a cloudy rainy day too, so I have no energy---plus hubby and I are cooking today for supper at church tonight too.

I'm pasting here what I posted last night on sidetick about my crafting:

Current projects:
Quilt with flowered materials that will go up for sale in my etsy store.
Scrappy quilt top for sewing club at church.
Walker bags for the community project with quilt guild.
I did complete one walker bag and it looks very nice. I have 3 more to make. I'm planning on going to the sit and sew at the local quilt shop from 6-9 Friday evening and take the walker bags to work on.
I generally only work on the scrappy quilt on Sunday's while Jasmine spends the afternoon and part of the evening at her boyfriends house.
Other sewing time goes to the flower quilt---which is taking forever to get done!

Other projects:
Granny square blanket that I am putting together with the Granny A Day challenge that the Hooked! blog has put on for 2012.
Baby blocks that I am making with plastic canvas. I am making 3 sets of 2 and I am almost done filling in the 36 squares needed.
Cross magnets. I have the materials out and do have a couple sets of 3 ready to post into my etsy shop.
Toothbrush rug---I finally have this rug out again after 3 weeks (or maybe more) of not working on it. I have 25 or so more strips to put in and it will be done and listed in my etsy shop.

Projects not started:
TONS of dish scrubbies to make! I had bought a yard of each color of netting and then my daughter gave me several yards of netting in red, green and white. We are talking at least 100 scrubbies worth, if not more.
Two tablerunners. One I actually have the material cut and pinned so it should be on the list above.
3 sets of folded hotpads---I guess these should also be listed above because the material is cut and all ready for sewing.
Another set of the double thick crocheted hotpads and coasters in a burgandy (maroon) color. These are actually sort of started too as I found 2 coasters started in the color.
I'm sure there is even more! Steve has promised to buy me a 9 cubby storage unit to get me a good start at organizing my craft room once the income tax refund comes in.
So....now....how do I find the time I want to craft, and still get the house clean and my other online things done...not to mention all the things that I do outside the home?

TGIFF--Flowered Quilt Complete!

I actually finished this quilt 2 weeks ago but I have let Friday pass by me, not getting this post in.  As you can tell by the time, I almost did the same thing this week!
I am working on another quilt and am in hopes of finishing it in time for my turn to host the linky.  I'm just going to say wish me luck!  I've not had a lot of time to make it in to my sewing room.  This must change for any chance of finishing the quilt.

Here is the flowered quilt that I've worked on for a few months now off and on.  I'm glad it's done.  It's listed for sale in my etsy shop.

WIP Wednesday 1/18/12

I've really been working away, right on schedule as I planned this past week.

My toothbrush rug is moving right along.  I even found some more fabric to add to the box while looking for other things.  I think this will end up being my biggest rug yet once I get it done.

Yay!  My flower fabric quilt it tied and the binding is pinned, and it will be completed!  I am doing a wrap around binding.  It will be listed for sale in my etsy store this weekend. (along with the purple hot pad and coaster set, which I did just finish this morning.  I haven't picked out the next colors of yarn for the next set.)

 I was going to lay out the materials and get them pinned for my 2 table runners.  Imagine my surprise and delight when I realized I had enough of these materials to make 2 table runners.  Nothing is done past laying them out.  I will do a wrap around binding, but I think I am going to try to hand quilt around the flowers.  I think I could maybe do a free motion quilting with my machine on a table runner, but first I have to learn how to do it.

 I said last week that I would get the material cut for the scrappy quilt and post an update on that.  I hadn't done any work on that until Monday evening.  I found I hadn't brought home enough of the lighter material from church.  I picked more light material while we were at church yesterday.  Last night I then figured out that I also didn't have enough darker material to get all the squares cut.  I went in to my own stash then and now have all of the squares cut!  That is really no easy task.  My  next step is the get the corner to corner lines drawn on the light colored 88-4 7/8 inch squares and 52- 2 7/8 inch light colored squares to be ready to start sewing those.  This is going to be a slow project, but hopefully I will have some sort of progress to update next week on it.

Finally!  My granny square a day challenge as of today, 1/18/12.   I've decided to go on out sewing squares together to the width I want the blanket to be.  This way I can go ahead and get a start on the crocheted edging too.  Ignore all the white yarn...I'm leaving long pieces on so that all I have to do it put my needle back on it as I put the squares together.  You can follow along with others progress by clicking the button below my photo.

 


I am still working on the cross magnets and block squares with plastic canvas, in fact I am finishing up a purple cross that is on my lap.  I am ready to put together one of the blocks.  I admit to have a few granny squares made ahead.  I am just sewing one on each day.
