WIP Wednesday on Thursday

Ooops!  Hubby and  I spent yesterday at the Kansas State Fair.  It wasn't until late last night that I realized I hadn't done my WIP Wednesday post.

I didn't get a chance to work on the rose with a touch of gold string blocks for the soscrappy blog color challenge.  I hope to get out my sewing machine before next Wednesday and get some of those done.  I did get as far as getting through my scraps and getting the strips, batting, and backings cut.

I did get quite a few more of the Christmas yo-yo's made this past week.  They became my major project.  I hope by next Wednesday to have all of them made and started on making the runner with them.

I got out fabrics and cut and sewed together more strips for the lockerhook rug.  I still need more colors!

Friday evening was sit n' sew at the quilt shop.  I finally pulled out the Arkansas Crossroads quilt that I made my sit n' sew project again.  I now have 2 of the 10 rows done on it.

WIP Wednesday--Better Work Week

I still didn't manage to get back to the schedule I have made for myself, but I'm not going to stress over that.  I'm sure it's better if I work on what I feel motivated to work on anyway.

At sit n' sew Friday night I got all of these half square triangles done for the Arkansas Crossroads quilt.  I'm not sure these are enough for all of the blocks, but sure enough to keep me busy on making the total of 80 blocks.  I don't plan to work on these any more until the retreat at the end of the month.

I at least got out the orange hexagons for the color this month with the soscrappy blog challenge.  I still hope to get out the orange to make 4 patches with as well.

I have started working on the crochet kits that I received for review.  This is what I have done so far on the Queen Elsa doll.  I will write up the review once I have her done.  It's a challenge for me to work on crocheting something this small, but it's fun.

I worked more on the t-shirt toothbrush rug.  I only got it up to 28 inches and have run out of much of a variety of colors in t-shirt strips.  I didn't go ahead and finish it off, but will message the lady that had wanted it.  If she decides not to take it at this size, then it will soon be listed in my etsy shop.

I did make a few more yo-yo's for the quild's boutique at the Wichita quilt show in June.  I am carrying a work bag of those in my purse and worked on them during the guild's board meeting.  I wonder how many I will have done by June to bag up for them to try to sell.

WIP Wednesday--Yep, It's All Still in Progress

Oh my.  I'm pretty sure that I only managed to find time to work on one thing this week.  In fact, I don't even really have time to write this blog post!

My husbands mother passed away early Sunday morning.  We knew ahead of time and family had gathered over the weekend.  You can imagine that it's been pretty hectic with preparations and all that goes with it on top of my normal busy life.

Anyway, I got out my little brown squares with good intentions of putting together the ones from the mini charm pack for a table topper and then to get the rest of them in to 4 patches throughout the week.   My sewing machine and little ironing board and iron have set here next to me all week.
I did get the table topper started.  It will now be put away, probably until the quilt retreat.  I will try to find something for sashing, backing, and binding and pack it in a bag to take then. (At least that is my plan)

Hopefully things settle down again starting Friday----at least back to the normal about of being busy anyway!

Time to check in with the soscrappy blog and see what the color is for March.

WIP Wednesday --Wrapping Up February

I don't have much to share this week.  I've had some days of no sewing or crafting motivation--mostly due to just being so busy outside of the home, but I did get some things done.

I finished the 2nd pink 4 patch and delivered it to quilt guild to be given to an agency called First Call for Help.

I worked more on the brown colored hexagons.  I only got about 10 or 11 done throughout the week so chose not to take a picture.

I worked a tiny bit on one of the doll rugs while out and about since I carry that bag in my large purse.

I got out the brown little squares and started string sewing them together.  I will work this week to at least finish stringing, but hopefully more.  Only a few more days left for brown to be the challenge color with the soscrappy blog.

Last week at church there was a box of yarn donated to use to make prayer shawls.  I didn't mean to, but ended up being the one to take it home.  I was told a story based on the one that I am working on now.  I'm sure it was started to be a blanket, but I am going to finish it as a prayer shawl and offer it back to the man who donated the yarn first.   See, it was a project that his first wife had started and he's been hanging on to it for many years since.  She was murdered back in February of 1977.  I'm not sure if he will want it as a prayer shawl, but feel it's fitting that he should have it if he wants it.

WIP Wednesday--February Already

I don't have too much to report.  I'm still having a hard time getting back to my little daily schedule  after getting off of it.

Thursday is my day to work on other UFO's.  I did finish up the smaller pink 4 patch quilt for charity.

Friday I got out my coupon binder and pulled out all the expired coupons--which was all but a very few with no expiration date, instead of making yo-yo's.

Saturday I worked on cutting out coupons instead of working on my hexagon project.

Sunday I did actually work on a rug as scheduled.  I am in the process of stringing together the strips for the locker hook rug I am working on in rainbow colors.  It looks like a mess right now.  I hope to finished sewing up and get the strips cut apart this coming Sunday.

Monday is to work on the Arkansas Crossroads quilt.  I did get the fabric out and cut some more squares, but not many at all.  Some day I will have the squares cut to start making the blocks.

Tuesday is working on the doll bedding sets.  I did work some on one of the doll rugs, but mostly I worked on taking step by step pictures.  I want to try my hand at putting up a tutorial on thriftyfun on how to make them.

Here we are to Wednesday, which is my day to work on the soscrappy blog challenge color of the month.  I just looked and this month is brown.  Brown doesn't fit in my rainbow of colors, but I look forward to seeing what 4 patches and hexagons both that I can get made in brown this month.

WIP Wednesday--A Little Off Track

I got off of my schedule this week....which I will talk about later.  I did get in some sewing and craft work though.

Let's start with the blue 4 patches that I am working on for the soscrappy blog challenge this month.  I am now ready to start squaring them up, which I hope to work on today yet.

I also finished the 2 child's quilt tops that will be finished at our work day at quilt guild on Monday and be given to various charities.

That was the extend of my work this past week other than a doll rug I worked on yesterday while traveling on a bus for a day trip with family.

Otherwise, hubby is on vacation this week and we started as soon as he got off work on Saturday to pull carpeting up.  We bought laminate flooring, but after seeing the wood under the floor we decided we will refinish it instead!  Most of the carpet is out now, but I took this picture along the way.

WIP Wednesday 1/13/15

Despite being extra busy away from home, I feel good about the sewing and crafts that I got worked on this past week.

Wednesday is my day to work on the soscrappy challenge (see button at the bottom of my post).  I managed to get all of my blue 4 patches sewn.  Today's goal is to press them open.

Combining Thursday and Friday---Thursday is currently my day to work on charity quilt tops for quilt guild.  Friday is my day to work on yo-yo's.  I did do a few yo-yo's on Friday, but not enough to share a picture with you yet.  I did work on the pink 9 patches at home Thursday then also at sit n' sew at the quilt shop Friday evening.  I have most all of the 9 patches sewn together and this week will start putting them into a child's and infant quilt tops.  I took this picture at the quilt shop of them laid out.

Saturday is hexagons.  I actually didn't go anywhere Saturday and worked some throughout the day on my hexagon top.  I also put some of them together with holiday fabrics and put them in my box.

Sunday is rug day.  We had movie day at church in the afternoon so I chose to take along a basket of t-shirt strips and start a new t-shirt rug.  It was just less cumbersome to take.

Monday I did a little more cutting for the Arkansas Crossroads quilt, but I am still FAR away from having all of the fabrics cut.

Tuesday was supposed to be working on the doll bedding sets.  It was sewing club day at church where we worked on a t-shirt quilt for a member.  Sadly I didn't think to take a picture of it!  I had just too much to do online to pull out the doll sets after being gone all day, but one of the ladies gave me a bag of thin strips for the little rugs.

I hope everyone had a productive week!
