That's my big announcement for this week. I got my new sewing machine. No, it's nothing expensive or fancy. In fact, with the state fair half price special and 20% off of the 3 extra feet that I ordered it was just $260!
It's a big step up from the little Brother that we bought one Black Friday at Walmart for $60. I never complained though, and I sewed for over 4 years straight on the cheap Brother. I will still be sewing on it too, at least if the measurements aren't the same. I have to check that out, but have the one quilt top that may need to be finished on my old machine.
I'm loving the automatic threader and the thread cutter. I can't wait to play with all the extra stitches that I now have too.
In other news I've not gotten much done in the craft area. I sat last night and I wanted to finish my block for sampler but it got too late. I do have to have it finished before sampler on Saturday, and have worked a bit more on it this morning.
The quilt shop printed out a photo of the square for us since we are using a bit different colors than what the book does. My first time making the square in a square. I just finished that and it looks pretty good. And, the reason the sampler excites me because I will be learning new things.
Otherwise I have crocheted and crocheted granny squares this past week. I didn't get anymore put on to the blanket as I am trying to see what I can make with what yarn I have left. Again I am running low on variety of color. I don't have many colors left now. I will be adding to the blanket over this next week and then again making more squares.
This is just a picture of the squares I have made at the moment.
That's it for this week. I do hope, with my new machine that I have a lot more to report next week.
I am linking up with the following blogs:

Good afternoon.
I didn't get to post a blog yesterday, I just got so busy I wasn't hardly even on the computer.
Our refrigerator and deep freeze were delivered in the morning. That prompted me to want to go shopping to fill them. I had my Walgreens list ready. Then we went to Dillon's and then to Aldis where I bought the most. Once home I started putting things together for the deep freeze which took most of the afternoon.
I chose to make ham and scalloped potatoes for supper last night, which takes at least 45 minutes to just put together.
I did get a squidoo lens built yesterday. It was to be my first one for Rocket Moms and it's called Blankets For Christmas (another work in progress as I get blankets done) However, after I built it I read on the website that we have an assigned lens, which this week is Our favorite childhood toy. I didn't know we had assignments, and to graduate as a Rocket Mom we must complete each weeks assignment. I'm going to start working on that lens at some point today.
I didn't get much done on gather yesterday for sure!
Today I started the day off doing laundry and working on my 2nd quilt. I had a problem with my sewing machine which put a delay on how much sewing I got done. I'm also getting serious today about schoolwork with Jasmine. She wants to unschool, but I can't just allow her to do whatever she wants all day, educational or not. I have a problem with that...(even though I am making the unschooling journey lenses)
I will have to take my mom to the dr. this afternoon...that time will sneak up on my quick. I'm doing easy supper tonight...spaghetti!
Have a good day,
Marsha
Good Morning. The snow did stop falling sometime last night. It's ok outside since there isn't wind right now. It's that cold wind that cuts right through me.
There are no real plans for today. I have work in a couple hours, just today and tomorrow left to worry about that! The kids have Awanas this evening, then there is 2 weeks off there too. I will probably wrap a few gifts today. Other plans include sitting with Jasmine and getting serious about her schoolwork.
Today I will share the post I did on gather on my sewing machine debut. I got it out and got the 2 pillows made for gifts. Photos are included. Sewing Machine Debut
Today's squidoo lens to feature is the one I built on my blujay. Marsha's blujay It's neat as I have an rss feed which changes up to show some of what I have listed. I've recently added 3 more listings too.
I'm off for this day....have a blessed day.
Marsha
Good Morning. It's a cold windy morning here!
Today is my mom's payday and I don't know that she has found a ride to get all her stuff paid. I didn't get a whole lot of sleep last night so I tried to go back to bed after we got Allen off to school. Now here it is almost time for me to head to work. 10 more days, I am counting down!
Steve did buy me that sewing machine. That's all he talked about last night wasll the things I can sew now. I do look forward to getting the machine out, setting it up and getting started on something. I have some scraps of material from a friend that I want to start a quilt with. However, I need to finish up things I've started for Christmas gifts before I can start messing with the sewing machine.
Today's squidoo lens to share is about the crafts that I make. Marsha's Crafts
The kids have Awanas this evening after having last week off. I'm hoping my daughter and her boyfriend will get them there. That is one reason I miss the van as I do enjoy getting them there and picking them up. Keep praying that I can get another vehicle really soon.
Have a good day and stay warm!
Marsha
