WIP Wednesday -- Little Bits

I had plans to work on one of my UFO's from my list of 17 at sit n' sew Friday evening at the quilt shop.  Unfortunately, sit n' sew was cancelled due to the owner having the flu.  I wasn't good and didn't take it out and work on it at home anyway.

I did get my paper pieced stars sewn together for the quild challenge.  Now I'm working on how I'm going to do the backing.

Still plugging away on my 365 and making 3 yo-yo's each day.  Still wanting to start putting them together......still thinking I need to wait until they are all made.

Yesterday was sewing club day at church.  Rather than sewing together the blocks that were already made, I decided to start hand sewing more squares instead.  I will probably continue with this until I use up what is already cut of the squares.

I didn't do any work on the selvage toothbrush rug, but a friend gave me some more selvage to add to my bag.

I still want to get back to making the string block for the soscrappy blog challenge.  Maybe, just maybe I can get out my scraps and at least pull out for the color of the month......after clicking over to find out what the color is this month!

You Can't Beat Dollar Shave Club

You've seen the commercials on TV, you've seen it advertised all over the internet.  If you are like me, you've wanted to give Dollar Shave Club a try, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Dollar Shave Club, the subscription based grooming brand that sends high quality razors and men’s grooming products directly to your door is the affordable solution to overpriced shaving needs.

Just $1 gets you started!  For that $1 you can choose from The Humble Twin, the 4X or the Executive (6 blade)  Again, just $1 with free shipping for your first box!!  Your first box includes the handle and 4 blades.
Then each month (or on YOUR schedule) you will receive 4 new blades.  These will be $1 plus $2 shipping for The Humble Twin, $6 with free shipping for the 4X, and $9 with free shipping for the Executive.

I searched around and you can not beat this price!

Want more than just a razor in your box?  For just a few dollars, DSC members can customize their monthly box with grooming, skincare and haircare essentials – like Dr. Carver’s Shave Butter, Post-Shave and Repair Serum, One Wipe Charlie’s, Boogie’s hair styling collection, Wanderer shower line, Big Cloud protective skincare, and more.

I couldn't wait to open my box when it came in!

I chose to add an extra handle because hubby doesn't get this all to himself!  I want my own razor as well.   The 4X is what I chose.  According to Dollar Shave Club, "This is your new razor. And it’s also your girlfriend’s new razor. Or your boyfriend’s. You see, the 4X is also known as the Lover’s Blade. It was designed to satisfy the harshest critics of both genders, so you can share your subscription (but not your blades, gross) with someone you care about. It’s equally good for the face, legs, armpits, or anything else."

I also chose to include Dr. Carver's Easy Shave Butter and Boogie's Bold Hair Gel to my first box.

There are so many additional items that you can add to choose from!!  As low as just $3 each.  I see lots that I want to give a try when finances allow me to splurge and add to my monthly blade shipment.

Other items in my box were The Members Handbook with instructions on how the membership works---
Cards were included on the additional products that include instructions on how to use them.
A nice newsletter type booklet called 'The Bathroom Minutes'  Now I don't know if this is meant for bathroom reading (LOL) but it's both informational and entertaining.

Again I want to say that Dollar Shave Club is a deal you just can't pass up.  The products are high quality and so much less than buying in the store.

Here is a picture of my 4X handle with blade on.  This is a heavy duty handle.  It feels great in my hands, and while using it.

*****Remember, there is no obligation with the Club.  You can cancel any time!!  If you need to skip a month, that is easily done with a click of the mouse in your account. *****

Frugal Friday With Marsha -- Notes and Lists

Do you grab every free notepad that you can?  I do!   Most of the free notepads come from various booths at the State Fair, but I've found them other places as well.
Why pay for a notepad when you can get them free?

I use the notepads for all kinds of notes and lists, but mostly such for the websites that I visit each day.

Let me share what is on my list so far for March 10, although more will be added through the day.

March 10

mousumi 111
postman

maze- Trader
diamond- stellar, zaney, chit chat
Boost- Big Beach, sotuk

Hotflash/clickyourfaceoff

Hits&list/mmx- 150-5 cents
mmx/coolcats- 500- 10 cents
pistol/stellar 125- 3 cents   pistol/northern  135  5 cents
tesearch/clickface/bootscootin- 150 5 cents
postman/Titans 125 3 cents

speedway special

ant/sunshine/global/dreamfuel/trend-67

cancel upgrade to legacyhits in payza.

Let me explain my list as well as I will link up each of the sites in case you would care to check them out further.    I use abbreviations of the sites.

First at the top is MousumiTraffic and PostmanHits.  Those are listed for me to make a note once I open them of what the average surf number is for the day.  If you make the average surf each day, there is a bonus for doing so.

Maze, diamond and boost are all for Viral Traffic Games.  It's a game that come up while you surf that earns you extra credits and cash for playing....and it's fun!  You have to watch for the icon in the surf bar while surfing, then click it to play in another window.  Three games within VTG as well to earn cash and credits there too!
Here are those sites not already linked in this post:
TheTrafficTrader
zaneyclicks
chit-chattraffic
BigBeachhits
Sotuktraffic

Next with Hotflashhits and ClickYourFaceOff is today's Hullabaloo.  With the hullabaloo you surf hotflash and the site of the day and about ever 55 pages you get a claim page.  Claim from each site to win points and cash at TEHeadquarters.

The next section are cross promos for the day, which no doubt I will add to as I open other sites, but that is my list so far.  What sites need to be surfed, how many to surf on each site and then what I can claim after I am done. (they also offer credits, but I always take the cash)
Here are those sites linked that I've not already linked above:
hits&listcafe
moneymakersxchange
coolcathits
pistolpackingmama
stellarhits
northerntraffic
TESearch
Bootscootintraffic
SurfwiththeTitans

Speedway special is to remind me that TrafficSpeedway is celebrating their anniversary today and have added more cash prize to the pages while surfing as well as while playing the VTG game.

The last 5 on my list are the Promoslice that I am surfing on today.  At Promoslice there are 5 sites to surf.  Once you claim at each site you get an entry.  Each entry puts you in the drawing for a chance at a little bigger cash prize and each entry gives you a share of the prize pool.  Fun!
antsurf
sunshinesurfclub
globalhits2u
dreamfueltraffic
trendtraxpro

****I got way off the track of my discussion on free notepads, but I have had many people ask me, curious as to what I do on the computer each day, so I went for it.

Back to the notepads---no paper goes to waste as I use not just one side of the paper, but both sides!

WIP Wednesday -- Challenge Coming Along

This week I didn't take a picture of the selvage rug.  I did add about 10 strips too it though.

I'm still working along on the yo-yo's.  I might be seeing a dent in the fabric in the box as the bags fill up.

My challenge quilt is coming along.  This picture I made I put on myLot asking opinions on which way to put it together.  I have chosen now and ready to get started ASAP.  Busy days away from home and even out of town will prevent me from doing too much though.  I'm sure hoping it will go together the way it's supposed to!

I have 2 projects roaming in my head that I want to START!  Start meaning they are not a UFO yet.  I'm trying really hard to be good and work on the list of 17 that I chose for the 17 UFO's in 2017 challenge.  Again, my list can be seen in the right sidebar.

One last thing.....  Last week I posted a book on amazon saying it was the book I am using that I got my pattern from for the paper pieced stars.  I put in the wrong book, so here is the one that I am using:

Frugal Friday With Marsha --Six Dollar Family Book Review

A have written a couple of times in my Friday posts about reading the Six Dollar Family book on my Kindle app.  I had gotten the sample of the book and after I read that I was hooked and ordered the full version for $2.99.

The full title is Six Dollar Family:  From Six Dollars to Six Figures   It's written by Stacy Barr.  It was inspired by the fact that she found herself and her daughter in a homeless shelter with only 6 dollars in her pocket.  She has a blog of the same name that I am also now following.

I really enjoyed the book and will reference it a lot.  The best part of the book for me are the many recipes that she shares.  The recipes are not just for all kinds of household cleaners, but also for health and beauty items as well.    I fully plan on making some of the beauty items to give as gifts, hopefully this year.

In addition to the recipes, the Kindle version includes links to many other recipes and other DIY gift ideas.

There was one part of the book that makes perfect sense for the financial mess that my husband and I are in, but I didn't like the thought of it.  She talks about giving up everything that is not completely necessary---this includes cell phones and internet!  I admit that confused me and I said NO out loud.  Most of what little I earn is done with apps on the cell phone and on the internet.    That would be a no-go for me.

The front of the book focuses on budgeting, the middle on saving and cutting your expenses and the end  is about keeping on the road to building the six-figure future.

There are 22 sections in the book, each with sub-sections.  Just some of these are: The Basic Budget, Save on Groceries, Relationsships & Money, Save on Gifts, Boost Your Income, and Continuing Your Journey.

I can honestly recommend this book to everyone---those who are just curious about living a frugal lifestyle, those just starting their journey to be frugal, those who find themselves in NEED, and even those who are already living frugally.    You can click the picture of the book above for full information and find it on amazon.

To conclude, I am sharing 3 other books that I have on my wishlist to read.  There are so many to choose from and I want to read them all!

WIP Wednesday -- I Need More Sewing Time!

It's more like I just need to take more time to dedicate to sewing.  I just can't figure out how to do that with so many other things going on and a lot of that my attempts to earn money.

I wasn't going to put a picture of the selvage rug since I only added a few strips to it, but out of habit I took a picture anyway, so here it is:

Still plugging away making 3 yo-yo's each day.  At least you can see that my bags of yo-yo's are growing.  I'm up to 5 bags of them so far.

I have the 6 paper pieced star blocks sewn together but now I am working on the other 10 blocks in step by step order instead, all at once.  Hoping beyond hope to find time to get the sewing machine back out today!

You can see my list of my 17 UFO's for 2017 challenge in the right side bar.  If you want to see the list with pictures you can see my post here: http://marshasspot.blogspot.com/2017/01/wip-wednesday-17-in-2017-challenge.html

Frugal Friday With Marsha

Let's start with this week's Dillon's Friday Freebie.  Today is' a Lindt Lindor Milk Egg.  Yum!!

Last week I had noticed in ibotta that the Chobani Flip Greek yogurt had a rebate.  You had to buy 2.  I kept that in the back of my mind.
When I went to Dillon's to pick up my free yogurt, I noticed they had some marked for quick sale for 59 cents.
I picked up my free one as well as one of the marked down ones.  I put my receipt in to ibotta and got the 50 cent rebate.  Sure wish I could run across those deals more often!
I enjoyed yogurt for my evening snack 2 days instead of just one.

Here are some other money saving offers that might interest you:

I haven't tried this one yet, but it looks very interesting.  If you have tried it, or if you do, please comment and let me know what you think.

Enjoy 52 digital issues, no strings atached!!

Also enjoy 52 issues of Star with no strings attached!

Last but not least, here is a great coupon to print.  Hint:  These sell for $1 at Dollar Tree, so get them for half price with this coupon!

Have a great week!  I will look for more bargains and good deals, and savings to share.

WIP Wednesday-- Feel I Am Moving Along

I finally got my sewing machine out and worked on the star challenge project for quilt guild.  I got 3 more of the 16 squares done.  Changed my plan a little on what I am doing with it and look forward to working more on it this week!

I am still making 3 yo-yo's a day for my 365.  I'm getting more anxious to start putting them together into the 3 projects though.  I will keep on making before doing so.  Once I feel that pile of fabrics are showing less to me.

I even got more done on the selvage toothbrush rug.  I'm thinking that as long as I keep working on it while we bowl on our league that it will be done before the league ends in April.  Every week people come over to see what I am making and admire it.

Again, you can see the list of the 17 UFO's I have chosen for the 17 in 2017 challenge in my right side bar here.
