WIP Wednesday -- Too Many Projects to Work On!

Oh my...I feel so overwhelmed by how many projects that I really need to finish.  I have yet to finish even one of my 17 UFO's in 2017 challenge!

I did work on the penny rug, but ended up putting it away before taking a picture.  What I found is that I need far more felt circles than what I had cut out.  I need to get to finding my felt in my mess of a craft/sewing room.  Hopefully by next week I will at least have a few of the circles that I do have pinned on sewn down.  I make myself no promises though.

I did get one step further on the red string blocks, red being March's color with the soscrappy blog challenge.  I've not even looked yet to see what the color is for April.

I have my guild challenge sandwiched and pinned, but am at a loss on how I am going to quilt it.  This has to be done by the 24th so I need to get that figured out, and quickly too!

Of course I'm still going with my yo'yo's.  I'm looking forward to the upcoming quilt retreat this month where I plan to start sewing them together.

I'm heading out now to the post office to see how much it will cost to ship a quilt to Ireland.  If it's not too much over what I have for the shipping in my etsy shop for it then it's sold.  Wish me luck!

WIP Wednesday -- Yo-yo's and the Rug

I'm keeping up with my 365 so far so good with making 3 yo-yo's each day.  I'm itching to start putting together the valances and table runner, but need to wait until I have yo-yo's made from each of the different fabrics in my box.

I worked more on the selvage toothbrush rug

I have listed my 17 in 2017 on the right side here on my blog along with the button to the blog that is hosting the challenge.

If you care to see pictures of all 17 you can see those in my post from last week.

WIP Wednesday -- My 365

Before I write about my 365, I first want to show that I did a little work on the selvage toothbrush rug.
It's not as large as the picture perceives it to be  :)

Now on to my 365.  The other day Julie and Julia was on TV.  It's a movie that I've been wanting to watch for some time now.  Many of you know the movie and know that it's about Julie, who decides to do a 365 by making at least one recipe from the Julia Child Cookbook each day of the year, and blogging about it.
At one point in the movie her mother is chiding her over the phone on it being a silly idea.  She tells her mom that doing anything for 365 days in a row is a good idea.
This reminded me of a book I reviewed called The Gnome Project.  In this book the gal is felting a Gnome each day for 365 days.  Doing something for 365 days sets a routine and then other routines will naturally follow.
You can find my original and full review here:

The Gnome Project by Jessica Peill-Meininghaus

As I wrote about last week, I have a very large yo-yo project for a special order to make.  This has prompted me to make making 3 yo-yo's each day my 365 for the year.  I have to get them made for the project, and I have other yo-yo projects in mind as well.
Of course I hope to have some days where I make more than 3, but 3 is a good number and what I must do to get the big project done in time.
I hadn't planned on showing the yo-yo's every week, but since I've made it my 365, I now will.

Do you have a 365?   I'm linking up both The Gnome Project book and the Julie and Julia movie at the bottom of the post for those interested.

As far as my UFO's, I've gone ahead and just left yo-yo's for projects over putting down the specific projects for now.

WIP Wednesday -- Yo-yo's and a Rug

This past week I worked more on making the Christmas print yo-yo's.  I'm anxious now to finish making all that I can with the fabrics and seeing what size table topper or table runner I end up with.

I worked more on the rainbow colored locker hook rug.  Sorry that my picture is blurry.

This week's goal is to get more of the yo-yo's made.  Today's immediate goal is to get into my sewing/craft room and find more colors for the rug.  Also, this month's color with the soscrappy blog challenge is rose and gold.

WIP Wednesday -- All About the Yo-Yo's

It's been a yo-yo of a week, and not just with sewing.   Looking, I see that I've not even written  a blog post since last Wednesday!

Monday at quilt guild we had a sewing day to work on items that we will be putting in our boutique booth at the Common Threads quilt show in Wichita in June.  I worked on the yo-yo's that I hope to get done by then.
I divided them up by fabric type and then packaged materials to make bags of 50 of each of the 4 fabrics.  I have not long to get them done, so wish me luck.
This picture is the ones I currently have done:

Otherwise I am working daily when I can to make the brown and blue yo-yo's for a special order.  I have a long ways to go on these too as the table runner is to be 30 x 13 inches.

I have a quilt retreat this weekend.  I have several projects already packed in my van.  I seem to not be able to work strictly on one project until it's done, so every time there is a retreat, I always bounce between working on several projects at once.  I should have several pictures to share with you next week!

WIP Wednesday 5/20/15

All week I wanted to get my sewing machine out.  It didn't happen until last night!
I got to work on my fractured pineapple quilt again, which needs to be completed in time for the quilt show in July.   I will be working on trimming in my Needlers group today.  I will have a better picture next week.

I spent most of the week working on this rug.  It's just about finished so don't know why I didn't actually finish it!

Otherwise I got out my storage box for hexagons and yo-yo's and added in what I had made plus some from other bags.  I actually just ran across another bag of them in my sewing room so still have more completed to add to my box.  I'm anxious to actually start putting the misc. hexagons in to a larger quilt top.  Plus I'm wanting to start another yo-yo table topper.  Oh so many projects that I want to work on all at once!

I just looked today at the soscrappy blog to see what this month's scrappy color is. It's green.  I plan this evening to work on green 4 patches.

WIP Wednesday 4/9/14

I did make some progress this past week.
When I ran my mom around town on her payday I worked on putting more yo-yo's together on my table runner.
I got 2+ more rows on to it.  I'm thinking I may stop soon and have it only in the center of the coffee table.  Hubby keeps his laptop on one end of the table and it would be smashing down the yo-yo's.
Yesterday was sewing club at church.  I put 2 more rows together and on the quilt I am making there.
My once a month project, but I should be able to finish it next month.
I have 2 more rows to put on and then the binding.
If I hand sew the binding down that will take longer.  I haven't decided on that yet.
I've been working on and off the last week on the hexagon flowers.  I only completed 2 more flowers.  They do take longer to make than I anticipated, but I've also been on a big project of getting all of my coupons cut and into my binder as well.  There was a couple of days when I didn't work on the hexagons and worked strictly on the coupons.
I am taking my box of hexagons with me to my stitch group this afternoon.
I was given some fabric yesterday.  As I started to put it away in my craft room, I started looking through my project bags.  Oh gosh.....I had to add to my UFO and NewFO lists below as I had forgotten a few of my projects!!
I am totally serious when I say that I have enough materials to keep me busy for the next 10 years.  Imagining the things I can make that aren't already on these lists.

UFO's:
Log Cabin quilt
Log Cabin wall hanging
Log cabin table runner
Rectangle quilt
2 rectangle table runners (one done)
