Stockpile-- Your Favorite Stocks By the Dollar

I'm sure there are many of you out there just like me.  You've wanted to start investing in the stock market and just didn't think you had the extra money to do so.  After all, the stocks you would like to buy are pretty expensive per share.

With Stockpile that is not a worry.  You can buy fractional shares!!  Yes, they earn just like full shares too.  (****Be sure to check out the special offer at the end of my post too****)
You never pay more than 99 cents per trade, whether you are buying, or selling.
The choices of stock to purchase seem endless.

I also know that many of you are also like me----you have those hard to buy for people on the gift list.  Buy them gift cards to Stockpile!
E-gift cards are available as well as physical cards.  There is no minimum to send an e-gift card, but there is a $2.99 plus 3% fee, so keep that in mind.   I fond that to send $5 would be $8.14.
Physical cards are available in many stores, but also at the Stockpile gift shop online.
Minimum gift card with the physical card is $25.  You can buy just one or you can buy many.   They offer the most popular stocks in sets.
Myself, if I was buying for a gift, I would choose the gift card that allows them to choose the stock of their choice.  With fees, the total price is $29.95 for one $25 card.  There is a small shipping charge, but if you buy 3 or more, shipping is free!

They say that the average gain per year in the stock market is 9.8% per year.  That means that you could be a millionaire by retirement if you start early.
Opening a custodial account for your children would just be awesome.  Start them out right.  Let them check it each day to see the gain or loss.

This is a screenshot of my account as of right now.  You will notice that my $25 in Disney stock is up, whereas the $5 in amazon is down.   It's fun and interesting to watch each day....exciting is another word for it.

You might also notice that I have put in more to amazon that is pending.  I found that the minimum to transfer from your bank account into your Stockpile account is $10.  I went ahead and bought the $9.01 in amazon so with the 99 cent trade fee it was the $10 even.

I see there is an option to buy with debit card, but I've not checked that out yet.  That's next on my list to do.

I have a lot to learn, but am learning more about it every day.

**********Now for that deal that I told you to watch for!!!
Use this link , sign up for your own Stockpile account, and receive $5 in free stock to get your started!
Please don't let this offer pass you by to get you started---this offer expires July 30,2017!!*********

In exchange for my honest and unbiased review, I received a $25 gift card to try out Stockpile. This post contains a referral link. WIP Wednesday -- Moving Along

I did get several more yo-yo's made, but decided not to bore you with yet another picture of bags of yo-yo's.

I had the sewing machine out but didn't do any more work on the green string blocks.   I did, however, get the half square triangles sewn and cut...next up is to press them open.....that's my goal for this week.

The sewing machine was out to finish the black and white with a little red quilt.  Yes, I said finish!!  That means that 2 of my 17 UFO's on my list to complete in 2017 is now done.

Not sewing, but I've been saving toilet paper rolls for some time for an idea I seen on pinterest to make a Hot Wheels garage.  I knew I wanted to make it for Killian for his 4th birthday.  His birthday was this past Monday and he loved his new garage.

I overslept and missed the bus to Kansas City.  I'm still kind of bummed over missing the big quilt show, but was more bummed that I didn't get to work on my hexagons on the bus as I had planned to.  Since this month's color with the soscrappy blog is yellow, I decided to at least go through my box and get out any yellow.

WIP Wednesday -- #2 out of 17 is Almost Done

Let's start with the yo-yo's.  I did get a few more made and then a couple more rows sewn on to the first valance.

Last week I said I need to make 70 more half square triangles to finish the rows on the Arkansas Crossroads quilt.  That wasn't right.  I have 70 lined now for sewing, cutting, pressing and squaring up, but it's 140 that I need to finish the blocks.  I'm going to still try to work on these before the next sit n' sew, then in hopes of finishing the top at the retreat at the end of July.

I am so close to finally having the blank and white with a little red quilt done.  It's sure been a retreat project for way too many retreats.  I actually plan to finish it today!!  Excuse the bad lighting for the photos.  I can't think of anywhere else to hang for pictures except on the drapes.  The front and back are both finally done.

I actually did put another row on the green string blocks too but forgot to snap a picture.  Those surely will be done this week so I can move on the making blue ones.  I want to work on putting those together at the retreat at the end of July too.

Bring Out Your Imagination with Handmade Collage by Seiko Kato

Handmade Collage is by Seiko Kato and includes 15 designs to cut and assemble.

Seiko creates collages on a very impressive scale.  She is an avid collector or found objects with a particular inspiration in antique medical books, etched drawings and encyclopedias.

The projects in the book will inspire you to start your own collection of images.  Images that will allow you to take those smaller elements and make them into something larger and surreal.

The book starts with Techniques, Tools, and Materials.    I'm including links to some of the tools and materials at the end of this post as I found out just how much you really do need them.

The book starts simple with 4 piece designs.  The designs have step by step illustrated instructions as well as each element needed for the design.
The element page is cut from the book, then each piece individually cut out and then created.

When I first looked through Handmade Collage, I admit thinking to myself that these things were on the strange side.  However, once I got started, I realized they really weren't strange at all.  The word surreal describes them well.  I had a good feeling as I cut each piece and then put them all together.
I look forward to doing the other projects in the book!! (Once I get those tools)
I did the first 2 collages:

Each collage gets progressively more "difficult" with many elements to add.  The last project in the book is the Tropical Utopia.  Won't that one be fun?!

I want to mention that there are extras of the elements in the back of the book.  That way if you mess up cutting one out, there is a back up.  If you don't mess up, you could make a second one.  Or......maybe you would like to take those elements and create your own design with them.

I know that just making the first 2 simple collages that I found myself with the desire to grab the pile of magazines and old books laying around and start finding things that I could cut out and make my own designs.   I felt inspired and it was a good feeling.

Disclosure:  I rec'd a copy of the book for the purpose of this review.  I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions are my own.  Post contains affiliate links.

Frugal Friday on Thursday

I have a bus trip tomorrow to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Show and the bus leaves at 6 am.  Yes, I could write this into draft to auto publish tomorrow, but I like things live  :)

A little about the trip because I feel that it's a frugal trip.  If you are going to take a trip, this is just about as frugal as you can get.  My quilt guild is paying for a good portion of the tour bus and each member paid just $15.   Then, the guild bought the entrance tickets to the quilt show in advance, so we paid $15 each for those, saving $2 at the door.

I've been using my PerkTV points to add money to the Perk Plastik card.  That will be the most of my spending money for the day.   I'm glad I thought of that!
I have cash also just in case some of the vendors don't take a Discover card (which is what the Perk Plastik is).   I reached payout with inboxdollars.  They pay by check.  I cashed the check and have that money for just in case.

If you aren't a member of Perk already, please check it out HERE.  Use my referral code 860efbf6  to receive a bonus for signing up.    Please note that Perk has tons of ways to earn....you do not need a smartphone as you can do a lot of earning right on your computer!!

InboxDollars is an earning site that's been around for a lot of years.  If you've not checked it out, you won't be sorry.  There are so many ways to earn from watching videos, doing searches, offers, printing coupons, surveys and more!  Payout is $30.  (I earn pretty quickly by running the InboxTV videos on my phone each day).

If you know me, you know that I also have my bag packed with snacks and drinks for the trip as well.  The last time I was on a bus from this tour company they offered wifi right on the bus.  Just in case, I am taking along just one of my tablets.  Of course I'm hoping for wifi as there is a promoslice that I really want to work on.  I am also taking along my box of hexagons to sew as well.

I'm not leaving today without sharing some sweepstakes for you to enter.  Good Luck!!
