The Many Uses of 20 Mule Team Borax--And Your Chance To Win a Free Box!

Let's start with the facts:

20 Mule Team Borax is  a 100% natural mineral from the earth.
Borax is the common name for sodium tetraborate, which is a naturally occurring substance produced by the perpetual evaporation of seasonal lakes.
Nothing is added--no phosphates, chlorine or other chemicals.

Over 85% of homes have what is called "hard water" which contains calcium and magnesium.
When detergent is added to hard water some of the compounds attach to calcium and magnesium and settles to the bottom of your machine.
20 Mule Team Borax naturally softens hard water, maximizing cleaning power.

There are so many uses for Borax!  I'm going to hit the highlights.  Uses are listed on the back of the box, with instructions, plus you can find many many more uses by searching the internet.
  • Laundry booster:  1/2 cup to every load.
  • Bathroom cleaner and deodorizer
  • Kitchen cleaner and deodorizer
  • Tough on tough laundry stains including those on baby clothes
  • Safe to use on your delicates
  • Clean toilet bowls
  • Use in your garbage disposal and drains
  • Use on those tough carpet and rug stains
  • Boost the cleaning power of your dishwasher
My experiences--
As far as using it in the dishwasher, my teen loves it when I do.  When I don't, she complains about what the glasses look like.  It removes the hard water minerals, just add 1/4 cup to the bottom of the dishwasher.

I've been using it when I wash hubby's whites.  I stopped using bleach months and months ago.
It's been working great, but let me tell you of the true test.
Our cat had kittens.   Our poor dog is getting the brunt end of that.  She is always scrapping with him if she thinks he is coming anywhere near her babies.  One night they really got into it in the kitchen.  We picked him up and put him in my bedroom and shut the door.  It wasn't until the following day when I found out just how much she got him.   I went to get hubby's whites out of the closet and found them soaked in blood.
I did as suggested on the Borax box to remove tough stains.  I put the whites in the washer with the detergent and 1/2 cup of Borax.  After the tub filled I stopped the washer and let the blood stained whites soak for 30 minutes.  I want to tell you that this works wonders!  ALL of the blood came out!
