The Challenge is hosted by Leah on her South Breeze Farm blog
The challenge is quite simple...There are (30) days in November, (30) reasons to feel thankful--add (1) to the list each day of the month. If you decide to join a few days into the month like I have, just catch up. And be sure to add the 2010 Giving Thanks Challenge Button to your blog so others can join in our sharing of thankfulness. I hope you will click the button at the bottom on my post and join in.
I will be adding a new item each day (now that I am caught up), so check in often.
1. The top thing on my thankful list is every morning that I wake up to spend more time with my family and friends.
2. I am thankful for my 4 children.
3. I am thankful for the 7 grandchildren (and another on the way) that my children have provided me with.
4. I am thankful for my church and my church family. I mostly feel more at home at church than I do the place where I am living.
5. I am thankful for my online friends...they have gotten me a lot of rough patches in this life of mine.
6. I am thankful to be a homeschool parent. Although I only have 1 of 4 children left at home, the time I was able to spend one on one with my children in their education is priceless.
7. I am thankful for a warm place to live in the cold winter.
8. I am thankful for the talents that God has granted me with my hands, that enable me to earn some money, as well as make others happy with homemade gifts.
9. I am thankful that a sewing club was started at my church, and I was able to learn how to quilt. I am learning more each month that we meet.
10. I am thankful for my heavy, warm, fuzzy blanket as the nights get colder.
11. I am thankful to have a friend who is currently working on fixing my laptop for me. On that same note, I am thankful to my boyfriend for buying a power supply for his desktop so that I can still be online.
12. I am thankful for Bible study each week at church. I get so much more out of the small group discussion there where there isn't the distraction of trying to keep my grandchildren quiet.
13. While I am there...I am thankful that I am able to take my grandchildren to Sunday school and church so that they can grow and learn.
14. I am thankful to own a car. It may not run all that well, but does get us where we need to be.
15. Today was a cold day, so I am thankful to have warm clothing I can wear.
16. After so many things going wrong today, I am very thankful for 3 good games of bowling in our league tonight and a series of 557.
17. I am thankful to have made the last visit to see my son in jail...and prayful that he is true to his word to stay out of trouble.
18. Today I am thankful for sleeping in and not having to go anywhere away from home.
19. I'm thankful for our Friday nights of eating out. It's a day I don't have to worry about what to fix, or doing dishes.
20. I'm thankful this is the day my son is out of jail! I am thankful that he came to check out my car and one current problem with it was nothing more than a loose battery cable connection.
21. I am thankful that my son kept his promise and attended church with us this morning. Now praying he will keep it up when he's off work on a Sunday morning.
22. I am thankful for all the opportunities I am presented with online. Today I rec'd 2 great packages from gather.com with items to review.
23. I am thankful for the time I got to spend with my children today. And, thankful for the schoolwork Jasmine and I got done even though we were in the car most of the day.
24. I am thankful for a dr. appt with my daughter who is pregnant. They said they baby's heartbeat is healthy and strong.
25. Today is Thanksgiving. The turkey is one, I'm getting ready to put the green bean casserole in the crockpot. I'm also about ready to get a pie in the oven. I'm thankful for the time I will get to spend with family. And hey, I'm very thankful that everyone is bringing a little something to help with the dinner.
26. I am thankful today for a small gathering of family again for Thanksgiving leftovers. Thankful that we had the leftovers and that we were able to save money not going out to eat as we usually do on Fridays.
27. I am thankful today for the time my daughter and I spent at church today helping out with the Christmas sale. I am also thankful for the change I've been saving for awhile that enabled me to buy some needed Christmas decorations, cards, wrapping paper, and a lot of stocking stuffers.
28. Well, it's really windy and cold outside today, so I found myself being thankful that I didn't have to be outside in it very often!
29. Today I am thankful for my shopping trip to Walgreen's. I only spent $5.22 of which most of that was sales tax. I used over $55 in coupons and saved an additional $20 with sale prices. More items added to my Christmas gifts as well as needed items for the house too!
30. Today I am just thankful for the things I was able to accomplish at home despite having to be away from home so much.
The month of November is over! I started this late, meaning I thought of every day things I am thankful for. Once caught up I was able to think of different things that specific day that I was thankful. This is a great exercise. I feel privileged to have found this challenge. It reminds me that I need to start a grateful journal again.
A wonderful list of giving thanks, Marsha. I'll be checking back throughout the month. You know, m'dear, you are an inspiration to me!
ReplyDeleteWith it feeling like winter is about to arrive, I'm with you on being thankful for the warm things.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining in the challenge this month! What a great idea, too, to keep a "sticky post" at the top! I hope I remember that idea next year. =)
ReplyDeleteBe blessed!
