Frugal Friday with Marsha--Linky Party

Welcome to Friday!
How is the weather in your part of the world? We had another snow storm hit this week. It dumped another 7 inches on top of the 15 inches from the week before. I am thankful that the temps have been above freezing so the streets were only bad for a short time this time around.

I don't have a shopping photo to share with you. This week we were really short in the grocery money dept. I am thankful for my coupon stockpiling. We spent less than $25 and bought 2 gallons of milk, potato chips, 2 packages of Oscar Meyer lunch meat, a bag of oranges, a bag of shredded lettuce, and 6 bananas. Surprisingly we got .70 off each package of lunchmeat because I just happened to have loaded ecoupons onto my shopper's card for them.

This was moving week----we moved my middle daughter and her family from Great Bend to Hutchinson. They are staying at our house until they can find some place to rent. Just yesterday they are finding that a daunting task. It's really hard to find landlords that allow pets, as well a rent that is affordable with his income.

I have been keeping up pretty well with my goal of decluttering and reorganizing the house. A little at a time, but it's been looking a lot better around here. I'm going to try to continue my efforts, even with 4 more people and their stuff in the house :)

Let's here what's been up with you this week, and the frugal type posts you have shared :)

WIP Wednesday 3/16/11

Welcome to WIP Wednesday in conjunction with Every Day Crochet. Please click the button at the end of my post to join in.

I think my entire life is a WIP!! I was going to come in and say that I have no WIP's other than the placemats I am making for out table. (On those, I now have completed 4, which you will see in the photo of the table. I have 2 more to complete for the set of 6.)
I can't say that's my only WIP. I have that quilt that I need to get back to and finish. I'm still in the process of unpacking. I'm down to the craft room, but working slowly at it after busting my you know what unpacking the rest of the house. I would love if you would hop over to my album on gather to check out the progress of settling in to the house. Our New Home
I'm also always in the process of reading books to review. Currently I am reading an autobiography of the comedian Pat Cooper. It's a good read, very interesting. I am so behind of getting my book reviews written....and I have a virtual book tour that needs to be done as well!

Anyway...we are going to head to his sister's house so the garden can start being a work in progress. I need to pull out my rhubarb, onions, and some of the strawberries from the garden there. Hopefully then this next week we can get at least a couple of tomato and bell pepper plants to put in. I'm not planning a very large garden this first year. Soon I also need to get over to my daughter's bf's house and dig up my irises.

Until next week!

Squidoo Hopping 3/10/11

First of all, let me apologize for not posting last week! I didn't even realize and think about it until Sunday. As you know, we were moving to our new house starting last Wednesday. We settled in to the house as our home right away. We still have quite a bit of unpacking to do...or I should say that I do.

For this week, I want to go back to sharing the lenses that are on the bottom of my list of lenses. Yikes! One of them had gone over the 500,000 mark on lens rank.

Our Homeschool Journey 2010/2011 Part 3---I've taken the time to get this one updated this morning. It's a week past time to start building part 4. I do hope to get to that soon, as well as building more book review lenses!

Next up is Our Unschooling Journey 3--this was part 3 of my attempt to allow Jasmine to unschool. I don't really know what to do as far as updating these since it's over...with the exception of adding links to our homeschool journey lenses for this year. Any tips and hints will be appreciated.

Thanks for your attention, and I hope to see you hop along with us this week. The linky stays live for a week and you are welcome to share any and all blog posts you have posted that mention squidoo in them!! Please, since I missed last week, link up any that you did last week as well. Thanks!

WIP Wednesday 3/9/11

Happy WIP Wednesday!
Our WIP here is still our move. We've only been living in the house 4 days but for some reason it feels like a long time. I love that we all feel so at home here.
Below is a photo of what my "craft" room is looking like right now. Notice that my sewing machine is out, as I did have a bag order to get completed this week. I'm anxious to get the room organized now that most everything else is now unpacked.

The kitchen is completely unpacked so I thought I would include a photo there too. You will notice my still a WIP of the placemats I am making. The one out of 6 I am making that is done, is on the table.

WIP Wednesday 3/2/11

Good Wednesday to all and welcome to the weekly WIP post. WIP Wednesday is hosted by Every Day Crochet. Please click the button at the bottom of my post to join in the fun and see what others are working on.

For us it's been moving still. Today is the day to close on the house!!!!!
We are really nowhere close to being ready to move. I've been packing boxes for weeks. I've stepped it up this past week or so, but still so much to do!

I packed all my crafts away a week ago and had been working on making placemats for our table. You can see by the photo that I did get a set of 6 crocheted but only completed one. I have the fringe on the other 5 to go, but now they are packed to finish later. It's crunch time on moving!!!

You can see in the photos more boxes are packed in both rooms. Some of these are now in my car and he is taking apart desks and such to put in his vehicle. We will head straight to the house after closing today to drop what we can off. Then it will be home where we have steak in the crockpot for a quick supper. He has to get up at midnight tonight for work tomorrow and Jasmine and I have church activities tonight. We just want to get what we can over there. I wish closing was earlier in the day. I have a full day tomorrow but will get another car load of boxes over there. Friday we have to be there early early for the cable to be hooked up. I will take another load of boxes then. Saturday and Sunday we have a moving truck to use. Can you say exhausted!!

I find muself over committed on the computer but trying to work on the move and in between all the things that I do online.

Anyway, here are my photos for the week.

WIP Wednesday 2/23/11

I'm late getting my WIP post up for this week...but as you know, the major work in progress for us right now is buying the house.  We've been busy today getting some things done as well as some packing.  I've been packing one or two boxes a day.  With the house closing in a week I need to step that up a bit.

I've put away all of my crafts and such except for some things I am working on for the house.  A man at church is cleaning out his mother's house since her passing and gave me a bag of rug yarn.  I have made a little rug for in front of the kitchen sink and I'm now working on making placemats for the table too.  I doubt I can get them done before we move, but I'm working on them while just sitting  and doing things here on the computer.

Below is photos of the little rug...my work on the placemats....boxes that are packed and in one part of the basement.....and boxes that are packed in our bedroom.

Please click the button at the bottom of my post to join in and check out other's WIP's as well.

Shop Hop Saturday 2/19/11

Hopping along again this week with Ruthi, and abitosunshine.   Click the button at the end of my post to hop along and/or support other shop owners online.

As you know, we are buying a house.  I have, for now put away all of my crafts--other than a small rug I am attempting to crochet for either in front of the front door or in front of the kitchen sink.  We are working on closing the house early, so hopefully we can get settled in and I can get more crafts done before the monster garage sale.

In the meantime, I did list 4 new items in my etsy store this week, and I do have 4 more to list next week as well.  So, I will still have new things to list in this blog post next week as well.

Here are my new listings:

WIP Wednesday 2/16/11

Welcome to WIP, hosted by Every Day Crochet.  Click the button at the bottom of my post to play along and see what others are up to.

I still have quite a list of what I wanted to get done in crafts before the monster garage sale March 19.  I'm afraid that packing and moving is going to have to put a halt to that!!  Basically, the house can close any day now, which is great and I would love to see it closed and us able to start moving some things over there even if we don't start staying there right away.

I'm still sitting here crocheting dish scrubbies.  I have a lot of white netting.  I think past today and what I can make around my other activities is what is going to end up being in the jar for the sale.
Here is what I have so far:

I ripped out lines on the strip quilt I am working on and this photo was of me in the process of re-sewing.  It looks a lot better.  I am in hopes today yet to get the middle of the quilt sewn on.  I've not decided exactly on the back as I only have 2 sheets to choose from and both are flowery.  I'm also thinking of making the binding.  In other words, once the middle is sewn on, it's being boxed up and won't be worked on again until we are settled in the new house.

I have the back and edging pinned on the table runner.  It's just a matter now of sewing around it.  That won't take long, but I'm kind of anal, and working on the strip quilt until I run out of the thread that is already on and in my machine.

Other WIP's include 2 books I am reading for review......and the mess of organizing and packing for the move.

Monday August 24

Good Morning!
It's the first day of public school here. I guess my daughter got my grandson off to school without a hitch. Ariel doesn't start kindergarten until Wednesday...and Araya doesn't start headstart until next Monday.
Jasmine isn't up and around that I know of. She needs to be as Steve's sister is off work today and she already doesn't approve of the homeschooling. Plus, I look forward to the time each day that I sit and do schoolwork with Jasmine.

I've spent the morning unloading my car slowly and getting books and movies unpacked, washed up and put on the shelves.

I updated Our Unschooling Journey 4 yesterday.
I also did several posts on gather yesterday... Walgreens Shopping 8/23 and Mail call! Week of August 16 I also put in another video from our trip to the Dillon's Nature Center. I earned 132 pts on gather between yesterday morning and this morning! I would so have it made if I could earn that much daily.

I have to take my son to court this afternoon. His ex girlfriend put a restraining order against him. Oh boy! Like he would ever bother her, or has he since he moved out. She made it at work too so she ended up getting her hours cut way back since they couldn't work at the same time. My son's been there for years, she should have known that her hours would get cut and not hers. I pray she just chooses to cancel it today when they go to court.

Tomorrow will be busy, so I doubt I will get a blog written. The morning starts out with Jasmine having a dentist appt. It's our first night of bowling league so I will need to have supper all figured out. My mom will have her usual Tuesday afternoon dr. appt.

Until next time...take care and be happy,
Marsha

Thursday July 10

Good Morning!
I slept in until 9:30..I've been busy with housework and computering ever since.
I have to take my son to an appt. at 1 pm and take him to work at 5 pm. Other than that the only other place I should have to go today is to the closing of the Bible school the grandkids have been attending this week. That will be nice. They are even serving us supper.

Yesterday I got notice that Squidoo Locked my Mycoolcontests lens
I really don't know why! I have other lenses that are promoting programs and they are fine (unless squidoo just hasn't gotten to those yet.) What I need to do is get my book reviews lenses made.

I almost can't believe that it's Friday already. It's been such a busy week. I still have lots to get moved, mostly books. I am still working on the dish scrubbie orders too.

Here's to a great start to your weekend!

Thursday July 9

Good Morning!
I didn't get my blog written yesterday morning before the wireless went haywire and wouldn't let me access any sites. I think I have it figured out...unplug the wireless router, plug it back in, have access again. It's a pain but it works.

My time is so limited online right now so I don't have time for it not to be working when I do have time to sit here. I am still in the process of moving and putting stuff away among other things like taking others to work and home, others to the doctor, or the store etc.

I don't really have anything to share today. I am still working on the order for 10 dish scrubbies. Then my friend also wants 10. I need to get busier on all of those!

I am off the computer for a bit now to unpack some of the boxes I brought 2 days ago so that I can go fill my trunk with more to bring over. This is one heck of a way to get rerganized LOL

Have a great day,
Marsha
