Frugal Friday with Marsha 8/15/14

Happy Friday!
The kids started back to school here on Wednesday. We took them on Monday to the agency called First Call For Help for free backpacks and supplies.
On the way out the door they told us to take a bag of food, 1 per family. Then she told us since we had a big family to take 2 bags.
That was sure a blessing as those bags contained cookies, chips, crackers, candy, protein bars, and 3 packages of summer sausage. That helped us with 2 lunches!

Hubby was patient with me as we coupon shopped together. It was wonderful to do that again. We saved $33.33 with coupons. So many of the things that were on our list already were on sale and with matching coupons.
Besides saving the $33.33 with coupons I will get back .50 from checkout51, get $3.06 back from savingstar, earn 30 swagbucks for coupons I printed and used, and scanned the receipt into receipthog for points for the receipt as well as bonus points for scanning over half of what we bought.
I love it!!

So far I've been at least able to cut and put a few more of my coupons into my binder each day. As long as I can keep it up then I will be in good shape.
The Smart Source coupon insert is back in our newspaper. Woo Hoo! That's been a long time coming. This means that if there are several good coupons, I can go to the news office on Monday morning and buy 5 Sunday papers for just $6 to get extras of what we can use.

How has your week been?

Squidoo Hopping 8/14/14

Another week has gone by and more squidooing to be done.
Payday added to my reserve hopper about the same as the month before.
I know it will be at least September before I will see a difference from my updating each day. October will show my efforts even stronger. I'm anxious.
What I'm lacking is sharing my lenses through the many social networking sites. I've been trying to do better with that this month.

I've been struggling to figure out how to update what they call the lenslets. With only so many modules available to put in it's not easy for me.
My thoughts are changing out an amazon product.....adding info into the intro on the charity that a portion of the earnings are donated to.....adding photos where appropriate to a gallery.
If you have any other suggestions please let me know.
I've not messed with them enough yet to know if we can put things in the side since the lenslets now appear to look just like the other lenses when opened.

I'm going to continue to add 2 of my lenses to the weekly linky that are just below the 85,000 rank. It's exciting as each week I have to scroll further down my lens list to get to those!

WIP Wednesday 8/13/14

Hello all!
I feel like I've been pretty productive this week.
I finished the hexagon table topper.  I sewed up 3 of the lined fabric bags.

I worked on my green hexagons for the soscrappy challenge:
At sit n' sew at the quilt shop Friday night I got all of the lines sewn on the 34 hotpads and a start on pinning the wrap around binding.

Yesterday was sewing club at church.  I finished sewing the blocks in to 2 pieces but didn't have time to finish ironing those out.  My grandson, who you see in the picture, helped me do some of the ironing while I was sewing.  He's just learning how to sew.  (He used some of the pieces I didn't need and sewed together a Barbie blanket and 2 pillows and a pouch for them for her birthday today)
A took this picture of progress I was making on a start of a new toothbrush rug made with selvage and other thin strips of fabric.  It was looking so cute and the right size for a doll rug.  I ended up deciding that was what it was going to be and finished it after taking the picture.  I'm now working on 2 more of them for part of my birthday gifts to 3 granddaughters who all have birthdays this month.

So there you have it, my sewing week in review  :)

Here is my current UFO list: (sewing, not rug making)

Yo-Yo Table runner
Hexagon table topper
Emerald Island Fusique table runner
