WIP Wednesday -- Another New Project

When our quilt newsletter came out, there was an article about something else that the agency First Call For Help would like made to give out.  That something are plarn bed rolls for the homeless.
I've been wanting to crochet with plarn again for a very long time.  This is a good time to start.  Great way to get rid of the over abundance of plastic grocery sacks that are piling up at our house too.

I wonder just how many bags it will take to make a 6 foot long bedroll....
I am adding these on to my 6 list for the year.  I'm putting bedrolls as I do intend to make more than one.  I'm not sure if they will go to charity past this first one though.  My middle daughter and her family primitive camp and they could use these mats too!

I did more work on my Penny rug this week.  I got a few circles sewn on and started to trim around those.   I highly doubt I find time this week to get it out again.  I want to though!

I put together 3 sets of double folded hotpads to sew up.

Lastly this week, I did more cutting.  Everything I cut is not in this picture, but you get the idea.  The biggest, and hardest part for me, is actually putting what I cut in with the project I've cut it for!  I've spent some time this week attempting to find my other bags of cuts and put them where they belong, but I have a long way to go on that!!

I made myself a promise to work on something each and every day no matter how little time I find for it.  If I can keep it up like I have this past week, then things will start getting done-----that is if I can stop myself from starting new projects so often.  😳😀😣

I should close now and get busy!

WIP Wednesday -- A Little is Better Than Nothing

I didn't get much done this past week, but something is better than nothing, for sure.

I just put it all together for one picture:

The double towel scarves with the wine towels are actually done, sold, and shipped.  Under those are blocks and batting ready to be made into more microwave hotpads/cozies.  In the middle is fabric to cut to make more of the composition notebook covers.   While finding that fabric, I ran across some blue that I pressed to be ready to cut into strips for my string blocks.  I still need to get out my scrap bag and pull out more blue.

I highly doubt that I get any further on string block project, which means that blue month with the soscrappy blog will come and go without me doing anything.

I need to get the covers made, hopefully by Sunday at 2 people at church have each requested one.

What can I get done this next week?  Only time will tell, but I really do hope a lot more than what I got done over this past week!

Here's something fun for you.

WIP Wednesday 12/9/15

It's beginning to look more like Christmas around our house.  The tree is up and the grandkids have made a few little gifts that are wrapped under the tree.

I'm still working here and there sewing up the microwave hotpads.  As long as I keep it up, I should have them done in time.  I still have other gifts that I want to make as well though.
I bought cheap bowls to put in each one as well although no guarantee they are microwave safe.  They are mostly to show what they are for.

I've been crocheting away on the dish scrubbies and I only have the yellow to get done.  The orders will be picked up Friday.

WIP Wednesday 10/8/14

I think I have been pretty productive this week in my sewing  :)
I will keep saying that I hope I can keep this up.  If so, I will really start to get things done.

Let's start out with the sewalong with Terry's Treasures.  (See button on the right)  It's a Charming Stars quilt.  I am using from my stash to make it.
We are to make 4 blocks a month, so here are my 4 for September.  I do have all of my fabrics cut and I have all of the star point squares sewn as well.

I have worked more on the doll blanket, pillow and rug sets that I am making.  I came to a stand still as I need to get the boxes that I want to make into the beds.   I need to make a bed to know for sure the size of the blankets.

This month with the soscrappy blog the challenge colors are brown, black and gray.  This picture is most of my hexagons in those colors.  I will be working here and there on my hexagons throughout the month getting as many of those colors done around working on other projects. (See button at the bottom of my post)

Lastly, I am working on finishing up the 34 hotpads.  Most of these will be used for Christmas gifts.
I had planned to take these to sit n' sew this Friday like I have the past few months at the quilt shop, but then decided that I want to take all my lined bags and get as many of those made as possible instead.   Some of the lined bags will also be used for Christmas.

Christmas is right around the corner!!   I've started highlighting crafts that I have made as gifts in my Frugal Friday blog posts now.  How fun!

This is m UFO list, but not everything that I am working on is included in the list.

UFO's:

Rectangle quilt
challenge wall hanging
GoodNight Irene quilt/wall hanging
Yo-Yo Table runner
Emerald Island Fusique table runner
Five and Dime quilt
34 Hot Pads (8 done)
Christmas bags (total of at least 25) (2 done)
Charming Stars quilt
Brown half square triangle quilt
? sets of doll blanket, pillows and rug

TGIFF!--Folded Hotpads

I really had hoped to have the quilt I am working on completed by today. You know about those best laid out plans---we ended up being away from home a lot this past week. I only have 3 rows of 8 sewn together on it.

Today I will share the folded hotpads that I've been making. I went as a visitor in November to the local quilt guild meeting. During that meeting they had what they called mini-demos. One of them was on how to make these folded hotpads. I was excited. I had just bought some insulbrite a couple days earlier with the intention of making hot pads with some fat quarters I had won over on listia.com some time ago. I stayed after the meeting to get further one on one instructions.

I do hope these count for the TGIFF since I did learn how to make them at quilt guild. I did since join the quilt guild and am very happy! Last months meeting was a Christmas party and we had a motivational speaker who was excellent! This month's meeting will last a couple hours longer and we bring our machines and work on project. Am I excited?? You bet I am!

Anyway, here are the hotpads. When I learn something new that I like, I go with it for awhile. I have material cut for 2 more sets yet. however, I highly doubt after I put the next 2 sets together if I ever make the hotpads again (unless they do sell in my etsy store.

This isn't quilting but I want to tell you about the Granny Square a Day 2012 that I am taking part in.  I've not made granny squares in many many years.  I am making some other things with my yarn stash, but doing a granny square a day this year will take care of what is left from my other projects too!   Here is a photo of the 6 squares I have done so far along with the button if you would like to see how others are doing and/or join in yourself.

Wip Wednesday--Many Projects Going On!

I have continued to stay busy on my crafts, even around a busy schedule that is taking me away from home even more than usual.

I am working on crocheting washcloths..  I bought the blue specific for making them for Christmas gifts.  I have listed a set of three of them in my etsy store.  I've been working on crocheting the rest of the lighter colored spool of cotton yarn.  Almost ready for another set of those in my store, which will be the last of that color for now.

I have these 4 bibs for boys done except putting on the snap.  They will be listed in my etsy store in sets of 2.
I've worked here and there on these quilt squares.  I am up to 31 done now....actually I sewed a few more after I took this photo.  I'm not sure how many I have left yet to make.  I think I'm going to go ahead and iron and cut down enough for a couple rows so I can see what I need yet.
I was going to make 2 quilt tops with these flowered strips, both the same style, but now I think I am going to do a string quilt with 6 inch squares instead for the second top.
Usually this post is about the first thing I do on Wednesday morning.  I took the photos this morning but it's after noon.  In the meantime, as I said, I sewed a few more of the flower blocks.  I am pretty close to finishing another set of 2 of the hotpads that I learned how to make last week.  I didn't put a photo this week since I hadn't made any progress.  I found more material and have it cut for more hotpads, but need to look in my stash for at least 3 more colors that I can cut for them.  I'm having fun attempting to perfect these, but maybe figuring out that I never will.

I also got a start on another toothbrush rug.  Still working now at getting the strips organized.  I doubt I will actually start working on it until after Christmas....but I will be ready at least.
I still have squares on my desk to put together for a quilt top for church.  We will not be meeting this month.  I also have material ready to make 2 simple table runner.
Truth me known, I have enough supplies in this house right now to keep me busy for 3 or 4 years at least!  The only thing I might have to buy is thread to sew with.

I better run!  I am linking up with the following blogs:
