WIP Wednesday -- Another New Project

When our quilt newsletter came out, there was an article about something else that the agency First Call For Help would like made to give out.  That something are plarn bed rolls for the homeless.
I've been wanting to crochet with plarn again for a very long time.  This is a good time to start.  Great way to get rid of the over abundance of plastic grocery sacks that are piling up at our house too.

I wonder just how many bags it will take to make a 6 foot long bedroll....
I am adding these on to my 6 list for the year.  I'm putting bedrolls as I do intend to make more than one.  I'm not sure if they will go to charity past this first one though.  My middle daughter and her family primitive camp and they could use these mats too!

I did more work on my Penny rug this week.  I got a few circles sewn on and started to trim around those.   I highly doubt I find time this week to get it out again.  I want to though!

I put together 3 sets of double folded hotpads to sew up.

Lastly this week, I did more cutting.  Everything I cut is not in this picture, but you get the idea.  The biggest, and hardest part for me, is actually putting what I cut in with the project I've cut it for!  I've spent some time this week attempting to find my other bags of cuts and put them where they belong, but I have a long way to go on that!!

I made myself a promise to work on something each and every day no matter how little time I find for it.  If I can keep it up like I have this past week, then things will start getting done-----that is if I can stop myself from starting new projects so often.  😳😀😣

I should close now and get busy!

WIP Wednesday -- More Cutting

The first that I cut were 8 inch squares to make the double folded hotpads.    My daughter wanted me to make her some, so I pulled out the long untouched fabric drawer labeled hotpads.  I'm almost done with 2 sets.  She's choosing to take the pink and yellow set.
The rest of the insulbrite and squares are here beside me to continue making more sets.

I spent most of yesterday cutting, and as usual, ended up with piles for various projects:
cuts to make tissue box covers
cuts to make pin cushion and scrapbags
strips for my string blocks
strips for the toothbrush rug I am working on
selvage strips for making a selvage rug
10 squares to be made into a quilt top for charity
quarter yards for making more towel scarves
and, a pile of scraps for filling a pillow case to make a dog bed.

This next week should be filled with completed projects!!  I hope if that's the case that everyone will be ok with me posting finished projects instead of WIP's.

In the meantime, I link up with the following blogs, so be sure to check each of them out.

WIP Wednesday -- One Step at a Time

I started off this past week one step at a time on the microwave hotpads/cozies that I am making.
I am to the point of getting out my machine with the walking foot and finishing them off.  I fully plan to get that machine out today as I also have other projects that need the walking foot as well.

I got out my table and cutting mat and did some cutting.    I cut for making 2 towel scarves, and composition notebook covers.  I ended up also getting the blue that I had out for the string blocks into strips as well as found some pink.  I took one piece and cut it into 1 inch strips for the runner lockerhook rug that is on my list to make.  I also ended up cutting some 5 inch squares as well.

In fairness to myself, I did get 6 of the notebook covers completed, and 2 of them sold since taking this picture.

Short post this week due to us being gone for hours today already getting our taxes filed free at the Salvation Army.

WIP Wednesday -- Cutting and Cutting

I had hoped to get my sewing machine out this past week, but it didn't happen.
I went into my room and started bringing out fabrics and batting to cut for the string blocks.  I ended up bringing out flannels for a couple of blankets I want to start too.

I cut what I needed then what was left of the piece of fabric I cut as well for other projects.
You can see that I cut 10 inch solid colors.  They are for the back of a quilt that needs to be finished.
I cut some 1 inch strips for a locker hook runner rug that I want to start.
I cut strips for another toothbrush rug.
I have a stack of 5 inch squares to add to my 5 inch stash.
I have both 7 inch and 10 inch flannel squares for a start on those blankets.
And....I have my stack of green strips with batting and backing for my string blocks.

Wish me luck that I make my goal of getting out my sewing machine today and working on these projects!!
