Frugal Friday With Marsha 5/23/14

It's raining, it's pouring....it really is pouring rain outside and has been for well over an hour.
Of course it's stormy and rainy, it's Memorial Day weekend when most people are planning bbq's and camping trips......sigh.

Actually, I am perfectly fine with the rain.  It's very good for my gardens.  It also saves me money on the water bill from having to go out and water.

I'm sure glad that I chose to keep doing laundry yesterday since I dry it on the line.  I don't have anything in the laundry room to wash, but I do have 4 loads on the table to get put away.
That darn laundry, just like dishes, seems to be a never ending task.

How have you been doing on frugal living, saving money and such this past week. 
We've had to learn to make due in a lot of areas due to just not having money to spend.
Meals this week have been split in 2 and eaten 2 nights.

My hubby did make a big purchase at the day old bread store.  They have chosen to close it to everything is 25% off plus he got his normal 15% discount on top of that too.  What he brought was $43 before discounts and $26 after.
He got jellies, honey, lots of spices, condiments, salad dressings and crackers.   At least if nothing else, we are now stocked up on those things.  (I do wish he had come home and got me and let me shop with him-----he bought one of every one of their large spices, but half of them I've never used before so I doubt I will)

Monday September 21

Good Morning...almost afternoon here.
I woke up this morning to a thunderstorm. Two days in a row now. And, guess who 2 nights in a row didn't roll up the windows on her car.

Yesterday was such a busy day. After church we had a luncheon, then I had to go to a church council meeting on the constitution. Almost 2 hours that meeting lasted. The constitution is an interesting piece but I was frustrated!

I came home and got my list and coupons ready and did my Walgreen's Shopping 9/20/09
It just seemed a whirlwind yesterday of running here and there.

I am in hopes of staying home today....all day! I've been piddling around getting some things done on the computer and some things done around the house, and doing schoolwork with Jasmine. Good ol Monday.

Yesterday Steve was playing with the cat and ran into a chair leg. Half of his foot is black and blue. Safe to say he broke his toe. I've been wondering how he is doing at work today unloading and loading his truck all day into stores. I am also wondering how it will be for bowling tomorrow night. I think he should go see a doctor, although they don't do much for broken toes.

I'm trying to get back to updating or building one squidoo lens each day. Today I updated Forever by Judy Blume--a Book Review.
I've applied for giant squid again...I am hopes that with the help of being accepted into the Rocketmoms training I will be accepted this time around. Will the 3rd time be a charm?

I am doing a yard sale in less than 2 weeks and don't even have one tote of things priced yet. I need to get to work on that. I will also take the crafts that I have made to try to sell. I hope it goes well as I need to make some money so I can start shopping the thrift stores for quilting supplies.

Monday August 17

Good Morning from rainy and stormy Kansas.

It's been a really good weekend. Saturday was good all the way around. Sunday was great too...we went to church, once home we just pretty much hung out around the house doing whatever we felt like. I like Sunday's like that. In the evening we had my son, his girlfriend and her kids over to swim and bbq. Right after that we headed to Sears for friends and family night. We had to stand in line 2 hours to get checked out but our fridge and deep freeze are ordered and will be delivered on Wednesday :) After that, even though it was late I went to my mom's and packed up the rest of out books.

This morning I updated Our Unschooling Journey 4....a couple days late but it's done. I also finished My First Quilt this morning and updated that lens as well. I'm excited that it's done and I can move on to making the next one.

I have LOTS of stuff to get shared on gather. I did cash out for another $25 paypal at gather yesterday.

Today is my son's payday but I shouldn't have to take him around this time. It's also my middle daughters boyfriend payday too. I'm sure I will have to take them a few places later this afternoon.
I'm planning on making ham and scalloped potatoes for supper...and speaking of that I need to get the ham out of the freezer. Off I go to see what else I can accomplish this day.

Sunday July 26

Good Morning :)
An early morning phone call woke me up and for some reason I decided to just stay up. I've vaccuumed all the carpets, worked on the computer, started laundry and sewn on my quilt and it's not even 9:30 am. I even walked and bought a Sunday paper.

I got my Mail Call! Week of July 19 in on gather this morning. I didn't get it in last night. We watched A Haunting in Connecticut (I pinned quilt squares while we watched), then we went to Wal-Mart and shopped until after 10 pm.

I updated Our Unschooling Journey 3 squidoo lens yesterday. Not a lot going on school wise in the summer but I can still think of things that she does that are on the educational side.

One more dish scrubbie and I am done with the one lady's order. I've still not rec'd her money order so I need to email her. Then I will start on my friends order. She says she is anxious for me to get them done for her.

The weather is cooler again. We had more rain yesterday. Looking at the 5 day forecast the highs are only in the 80's all week. Very strange for July. I can tell you who won't be in the pool this week....me!

No other real news for today so I will end wishing you a very blessed Sunday :)

Saturday July 18

Good Morning!
Yesterday I started out the morning leaving to take my son to court. I then got the title to my car finally. I wasn't home long when my mom called wanting to go back to the dr. Again, not home long before it was time to take my son to an appt. then to work. By that time I realized I hadn't written my blog but it was later in the afternoon.

I got an order for 10 more dish scrubbies yesterday. This is in addition to the 10 I need to get done for my friend here in town. I will need to make a trip to Wal-Mart for materials. The first order has been done for days but so far there is still no invoice in my craft mall account so that I know where to send it to. I'm feeling bad...I like to be prompt with sending out orders.
Speaking of that...I also got an order on blujay yesterday too. It's for something that's in a box I haven't gotten moved over here yet. That means that while I am out today a trip to my mom's and bring more things is also in order.

Gathers pages are loading so slow since the upgrade Thursday evening. I would think it's the wireless connection except that all other pages are loading fine. I did get my 2 posts done yesterday as well as put in another video from our Bible school. I did a lot of commenting despite the slow loading pages.

I updated 2 lens on squidoo yesterday.. My Coupon/Refund Story and Kansas--Our First Lapbook.

We've not been able to swim since Tuesday because of the rains. I'm hoping it stays clear today so we can get in. I started doing exercises in the water and I think they were doing me some good.

Guess I better grab my shower and get my own running done before someone calls for me to take them places. I also want to get the sewing machine out and work a little on my quilt.

Saturday June 20

Good Morning!
First thing this morning I finally got the anti-virus downloaded on the desktop downstairs. In the meantime while it loaded I got a lot of papers looked through on my desk.

Steve bought a salt water filtration system for the pool yesterday so I had to meet him at Wal Mart to get it to his house as well as 280 lbs of salt. I had him get the smaller kids one of those blow up pools while we were there. He's invited some of his cousins over tonight to swim and have a bbq. I told the grandkids they could come and swim too. However, it's been raining non-stop since I woke up. I hope it stops soon and the sun makes its appearance.

I also got my other $25 in amazon in the mail from gather yesterday.
I need to look through my email for my $5 amazon from quickrewards, and I have a code for a day pass at winster which should get me enough today for the $5 there too. Then, I will get my bookshelf ordered!

I need to also get My Homeschoolbuy Auctions updated today too.

Friday June 12

Good Morning! Thank God It's Friday...and I mean that because I get to go pick Jasmine up from Bible camp this evening. I've missed her and I'm anxious to know how her week's been with all the rain we've had this week.

I've been up early today, grabbed a bath, delivered some Avon for my mom and then did some grocery shopping. It's 10:20 am and I am just now getting on the computer.
I'm about to get the download done for the homescan scanner here on the laptop. My computer just isn't right.

I got a couple more videos put in to gather last night. Today I will go ahead and put in my shopping trip even though I only used $3 in coupons. I still did get some good deals.

I could wish for no phone calls for someone needing rides today but I'm sure it won't happen. My mom has her first night of her class reunion this evening. She's nervous about going. Then, they have another night of the reunion tomorrow. Guess I better get busy getting what I can done before someone does call for me.

Wednesday June 10

Good morning...or so I suppose. It's chilly and rainy like it has been all week so far, and expected for the rest of the week. I'm sure Jasmine is still having a good time at camp but I wonder about and miss her.

I got my morning post done on gather then went up for breakfast. When I came back I can't get in to gather to see posts, others profiles etc. I can see my email and delete, but not open the ones I need to open. I am still getting notices in my email that others are posting so now I am wondering, and worrying that it's just me!!

Otherwise I have been busy with laundry and such this morning. The only plans that I have for today is a Bible school meeting this evening. However, I didn't have anything planned yesterday but taking my mom to the dr and ended up running from lunch time to supper time non stop with others. ugh!!

Hopefully I can get things done today that need to be done.

Good Morning!
We had a downpour of rain about supper time last night...looks like it's rained quite a bit during the night. It's a chilly 53 outside right now.

Yesterday ended up being one of those days. My son showed up in the morning for me to drive him around...then he hung around the house all day here. His girlfriend had to use my computer for some research. I pretty much didn't do anything. Cleaning is what I should have been doing!

I ordered my laptop last night!! You can find my gather post with details here.I will even have amazon left and more that is owed to me. I am hoping to find a bookshelf to buy with the rest of it.

No plans today except Jasmine and I will probably be spending the evening at Steve's. The holiday gave him tomorrow off work instead of today. Not sure what we will do...watch a movie probably.
I'm working on laundry now. I need to get the sewing machine out and repair some of Jasmine's that she wants to take to camp. So much to do and so little time....isn't that always the case?

Good Morning! It's still rainy outside..I think it's safe that after days and days of rainy weather I can say rain rain go away, come again another day(or another month LOL)

I went to my doctor appt this morning, that went fine. Right after that I had my daughter take me to the grocery store for some last minute shopping on the last day of the sales. I printed all coupons that I used this morning from coupons.com. They have LOADS of great coupons to print right now. If you don't print them from somewhere else, please do click on the coupons.com link here on my blog to print them. Here is the post with photo that I just put up on gather. More Grocery Shopping 5/12/09 I wish I could save this much each trip or even better...it's what I am working towards.

The guy was just here with the Thunderbird but when I got out there he was driving away. I asked the guy following him what was up and he said he noticed the brake lights weren't working on the way here. So, he's taken it back to the shop to fix that. Let's pray it's just the bulbs and nothing electrical or I won't be able to get the car. It had lots of electrical problems but the motor and under carriage are in great shape. I really want my own transportation again. It's harder now for my daughter to get us to appts since she is now a taxi driver and gets calls all the time to go out in the taxi.

Bill collector on the phone...this same place calls 3 times a week, different person each time. They just don't understand..I am not paying on something from 10 years ago! I am worried about today!

Monday May 11

Good Morning. I sure hope it doesn't rain today...I am very tired of this rain every day...sigh...I know the moisture is needed and I'm sure it's helping my garden.
I need to get a LOT done today. This house is past disaster area. I was doing great with my card file but slipped up when I got addicted to the mahjong at iwon.com. Now I'm also playing games on pogo..why?...because I got a free 10 day club pogo membership. Nothing would be wrong with playing the games if I could actually win something, but the chances at either site are so slim it's pathetic.
I really want to get these books listed on homeschoolbuy today. Heather and I both have eye doctor appointments this afternoon. I still have no car. He let me use one over the weekend..it looked pretty nice, even had a radio in it and all doors and windows work, but they can't figure out how to make it run on all 6 cylinders. I don't think the junk man will ever find me anything that will actually run and look decent too.

I did get in my Mail Call! Week of May 3 post on gather. It was exciting to get my $250 sweepstakes win check in! Now I can go make another payment to the cable office and give my mom some rent money too.

I'm taking turns doing something on the computer then setting the timer for 15 minutes of housecleaning. Better get back to that timer and more housework.

Friday May 8

Good Morning. It indeed was a great day weather wise. Hot enough that the kids played in the sprinkler and the hose. Woke up this morning to find it had rained all night and the driveway is flooded half way up.
Tonight is the carnival at Allen's school. They have loads of outdoor activities so I hope the rain stops until late tonight again so they can have a nice time.
I am working this evening at Headstart doing child care while they have a huge parent activity so I can't go to the carnival this year.

Nope, didn't get the books listed on homeschoolbuy. If I don't stop and just take the time to get it done it won't get done until at least Monday now. Tomorrow morning Jasmine and I are going for a youth day of helping a local agency work on someone's house (same agency that is working on my mom's house). Evening will be spent at Steve's again. Then comes Sunday, which is Mother's Day. Right after church we are spending the afternoon at Steve's with our whole family for a bbq. Can we say busy??

I won another prize at mycoolcontests yesterday but didn't get my squidoo lens updated until this morning. mycoolcontests
I really have a lot of updating to get done on squidoo too.

There isn't that much on sale at the store this week so I am just pulling out any coupon I think I might use. Shopping is just another thing I have to get done today. Allen gets out of school at 1 pm so I plan to have all my coupons ready by that time. I will have to nap after shopping to get ready to go deal with children at work. Last I heard there were 56 children signed up and only 5 child care workers, which is not enough by law. We will end up with other employees coming in to help us.

Wednesday May 6

Good Morning! It's supposed to hit a high of 80 here today. As of this morning it's still really wet from rain and the sky is no where near close to clear.
Today's plans outside the home include dr. appts. for Heather and Jasmine for their yearly check ups. It's sad that Awanas is over. I think Jasmine will end up starting to go to the youth group at that church soon though on Saturday evenings.
I'm sending in registration for her camp times at the Kansas Bible camp today. She just told me she wants to go to the first session which starts on May 31. I'm also getting us registered for family camp at the end of June.

I didn't get those books listed at homeschoolbuy yet...ggrrr I am so addicted to this dimensions mahjong game at iwon.com...I need help!! LOL Honestly I played nothing but the game for about 5 hours of the day yesterday. That's not going to help me pay any bills...I don't think I would ever be lucky enough to win the jackpot for playing the game anyway.

I did update a squidoo lens My Coupon/Refund Story I was trying to put in the coupons.com box but I guess it's not a code that can be put in to squidoo. Instead I updated my module titles and changed up some of the ebay. I did get the coupons.com here on my blog, so if you want to print coupons from here, I would appreciate it.

Right now I need to head upstairs and see if I can sneak in my bath quick. Getting a bath is no easy task when there are 11 people in the house and only ONE bathroom! Then it's my laundry day too so I need to jump right in and get that started.

Monday April 27

Good Morning! It's been one rainy weekend here and it doesn't look like it's ready to let up yet.
Jasmine and I had a good time spending Saturday evening with Steve. We started out having bbq chicken, mac and cheese, green beans and rolls for supper. Then, we watched 2 movies.
Church was nice yesterday morning, I even got my oldest daughter and the grandkids there. One of our new members is building us a church website. Because the church is not the building, but the people, he brought his equipment and took a photo of all who were at the service yesterday. That will be the main photo on our website.
After church I put supper in the crockpot, but oops...forgot to turn the crockpot on! We did get to eat but just later in the evening than usual. Oh well, it all worked out in the end.

Today is my moderate cleaning day upstairs and I've decided to work a bit on here, clean up there and back and forth until it's done upstairs. I also want to get up to Walgreens today for my weekly shopping there. Also in hopes while up north there I can stop into the large grocery with the greenhouse and get some plants and things to get my garden going.

Sunday April 19

Good Morning. I slept later than I wanted to, but still up in time to get a few things done before church.
It's been pretty rainy here the last couple of days...so much again that once again the driveway is flooded half way up. I can't begin to tell you how thankful that the roof is done and we no longer have to worry about those leaks!

I think I will just relax mostly today...it is my "free day" in my basic weekly plan. I have a review for gather that I need to get done. Yesterday I think I did 5 posts! One of them was my Mail Call! Week of April 12 Another was my t-shirt win on mycoolcontests
I also did a photo essay on how the kitten have grown. I really love the last photo that I took! Kittens As They've Grown--Photo Essay

I stayed busy yesterday for sure. I had roasts in the crockpot for supper. Steve didn't call me. I suppose I will call him just to see what is up since today marks 2 weeks since we've even talked to each other. For now I better close for the day, still have children to get ready.

Wednesday October 15

Good morning!
The rain hasn't stopped yet. Now they say by tomorrow then a little warming trend. Mom is thinking of turning on the furnace as it's reading 60º on the thermostat.
Today is my payday so I will end up out and about all afternoon today paying bills and such. I am finally going to get these rugs and my tennis shoes to the laundry mat.
The kids will have Awanas this evening.

Today I am sharing day 2 of our 120th anniversary at church. Zion Lutheran 120th Anniversary October 5

Short and sweet today as I am getting a little bit of a late start. I'm off to play my winster.com spins and then play some spelling bee at msn live games.

Tuesday October 14

Let's start the morning out by my daughter not showing up to take Allen to school and the battery in my van dead. (sigh)
Thankfully I remembered Steve is on vacation this week so he just took Allen to school and will come back to jump start my van.

This is my busy day...work, take Heather to math tutoring, take my mom to the dr, have supper and head to the bowling alley. We are short one bowler on our team because one man quit, and another man on our team broke his ankle this week so we have to find him a sub. (sigh again)

I didn't do anymore squidoo lenses yesterday but will try to build a couple more tomorrow.

Monday October 13

Happy Monday. Happy Columbus Day. No holiday for the schools today, but banks and the post office are closed. I don't like no mail days.
I've had major lower back pain since Friday evening so I'm not sure how work will go. I'm actually hoping that while bending to set my table I will bend just right to put it back in to place.

It's raining and a bit cooler here today, and is supposed to be the same tomorrow.
No real plans today other than whatever I can get done on the computer.

I built 2 more squidoo lenses last night and listed them to the left. One on Fat Albert and the other on Hannah Montana.

Tuesday October 7

Well, it ended raining from morning until bedtime last night. I guess that's what happens when it doesn't rain for 3 weeks. It's a bit chilly out today because of the wind.
It's going to be a busy day. I'm off to work in 30 minutes. Immediately followed by taking Heather to math tutoring. My daughter took an out of town painting job so that leaves me taking Allen to the dentist this afternoon too. Then, mom's usual trip to the doctor and bowling this evening. I really begin to despise Tuesdays! I love bowling, it's the rest of it that I don't like.

I didn't do much with gather yesterday...uploaded some photos since my video wouldn't go through.
I did however do another squidoo lens. At the Spooky celebration Ralyn announced she is now taking founding consultants for Under The Rainbow Gifts. I ask you to please click on the Under The Rainbow link under my lens to the left and check it out. She's got a good program going with lots of gifts to choose from.

I also won 2 more prizes in the Spooky Celebration! A shelf sitter doll and a set of Infant hair clips. With my order I placed with Bonnie for the scissors and holders, these 2 prizes, the play foam, and pillow that I won earlier these will all be great help with my Christmas gifts. There is still tomorrow for the celebration, of which I am presenting my website again from 8-9 pm, right before the last drawing and grand prize draw! Watch for links in tomorrow's blog.

Wednesday September 17

Good morning, although I am thinking of going back to bed for a bit before work.
We got Allen off to school today so hopefully he does ok. He has a field trip out of town tomorrow to meet an author and get a signed book so that should be fun for him.
Tonight Awanas starts back up for the kids. Araya is excited as she gets to go this year. It will be the last year for Jasmine. Other than Awanas there are no other plans for the day so hopefully I can get some work done on here.

This is a video I took of the rain and 2 of the kids playing in it the other day...I wish now that I had made it longer.


Let me think on that nap before work for a few more minutes. If I don't take it now I will be falling in to bed for a nap right after work. I didn't sleep well last night, couldn't seem to stop tossing and turning.
