Frugal Friday with Marsha --Gift Giving
It's that time of year--time for the birthdays of the grandchildren. I thought it would be fun to share the gifts that I give them in my Frugal Friday posts.
First came Skyler's 13th birthday. He's my step-grandson. I was busy worrying about not having much for him. All I had in my stash was a Star Wars spiral notebook that I had picked up at Walmart for 50 cents on clearance.
My daughter then suggested that I crochet him hacky sacks. I would never have thought of that, but went right to finding a pattern online.
I used the pattern found here: http://www.freshstitches.com/how-to-make-a-hacky-sack-crochet-easy/
I rounded up all of the materials to make them, which I had plenty of around the house. I decided to make him 3 of them because not only does he like to hacky sack, he also likes to juggle.
He loved them. His friend at his party thought they were cool. And, they had a family hacky sack game after we went home.
Other than making gifts, a lot of my gifts come from items that I get in for review. Some of those I do get in free, and some, like this game, I do pay a small amount for. I chose to get Rooster Race because I knew Jacob would like it. He's been playing card games with my mom most every evening.
A little review: It's a really fun learning game. Each player gets 14 cards then one card is turned over in the center. On your turn you guess if your card will be higher or lower than the card on top of the pile. If you are right you get to take a cute little ear of corn from the center. If you are wrong you have to give back an ear of corn. The winner is the one with the most ears of corn once all 14 cards have been gone through. He's had a lot of fun with it.
Another birthday coming up this weekend so I will have more gifts to show in next week's post.

Frugal Friday With Marsha--Week in Review
It's been a pretty normal busy week around our house. Our family night out included going to the music program that my 3rd grade granddaughter, Willo, was in. They did a good job and the music was good. If you are a member of tsu, I did share a photo there.
A blessing happened this week. I received my box of Renuzit items in for review and inside I was one of the lucky winners of a $50 Visa card! I am saving this back to help me pay for most of the quilt retreat I am attending at the end of April.
Yesterday when I was going down the topics in chatabout I ran across Freebie Pictures as a topic. I hope to get to sending for more freebies to add to the items that I get in for review. I did send for some Centrum vitamin samples this week and you will find that link shared in my tsu as well. This week for review I received the 3 Renuzit products as well as some all natural shampoo and conditioner. ( I plan to have my Renuzit post up tomorrow with a giveaway where 3 winners will each win a free coupon)
I had hoped that the seeds that my daughter started for me last Friday would have sprouted in the 7 days, but not so far. I have been spritzing them with water twice daily. Here is what the kitchen window looks like so far. We can plant outside around the first of April.
I picked up my free Take 5 candy bar from the Dillon's Friday freebie. If you have a Kroger store in your area, make sure to get your free item each week. This week the freebie is Kroger Greek yogurt and I just added it to my card and my mom's card.
I used some of my amazon earnings to order cat food and black ink for our printer. The cat food came in just on the day that I fed the cats the last of what was in the container. I will be sharing the various places where I earn amazon in my February earnings post in early March.
That's about it for this week. I look forward to seeing what comes about this week.

Super Sunday Reviews -- Crafty Creatures
Fill Your House With These Crafty Creatures
Crafty Creatures has got to be THE cutest craft book that I own! The best part? The projects are made with scraps and leftovers from other projects :)
It’s really just too much cute. I can’t wait to get started making many of these cute creatures to give to my grandchildren.
There are projects with yarn, felt, and fabric.
I love sock monkeys and instructions on how to make them with a pair of socks is included in the book. Boy couldn’t I have a blast and add a bunch to my collection.
Other cute projects include:
Cat’s Bed (featured in my photo below)
Bees and Bugs
Mobile Owl
Knittens
Pocket Pets
Your Little Pony
30 projects to choose from!
The book also includes instructions and supplies for your sewing kit, how to do the stitches with great illustrations, How to knit also with great illustrations, and even threading a needle and sewing on a button.
Crafty Creatures is written by Jane Bull and published by DK. See the video I am including below to see the projects come to life out of the book.
I can not say enough good things about this book. I highly recommend it for yourself or as a gift to someone who loves to craft.
I am sad that I don’t have the time I would like to make a bunch of the projects for Christmas gifts. I do look forward to getting on them and giving these as birthday gifts throughout the year to the grandchildren.
I also plan on sitting down with the grandkids and letting them have fun making their own Craft Creatures as well!
Here is the cat bed that I made and gave as a birthday gift to my granddaughter, Zelda, for her 2nd birthday:

Super Sunday Reviews---Brazilian Bracelets: Making Friendship Bracelets & More
Brazilian Bracelets: Making Friendship Bracelets & More
Friendship bracelets are so much fun to make and even funner to give out to friends and family.
The book, Brazilian Bracelets, is all about making friendship bracelets and more.
Published by Schiffer and written by Florence Bellot, inside the 61 pages you will find several patterns and techniques to choose from.
Some are simple, some are more complicated.
The book starts out with material and advice. A bonus in the back of the book are threads to get you started. A packet which includes 5 different colors.
Some of the designs and techniques include thins bracelets, zig zags, fish, wraps beaded, and more.
There are even instructions on how to decorate your hair with them.
The back of the book includes 2 personal pages. You can fill in your favorite design, the design you love the most, and the first design that you created. You can create your own color chart. You can compare the designs in the book to those you come up with on your own.
My teenager got right down to business making bracelets once I got the book. I thought she would stop after 1 or 2. She did stop at 2 for herself, but then she went on to make more to give to friends and to her sisters.
She brought the book to her next oldest sister’s house and left it with her to make bracelets too. She even gave her a box of embroidery thread to work with.
So much fun to make!
Here are some of the bracelets that Jasmine made:
Disclosure: I rec’d the book, Brazilian Bracelets, from the publisher for the purpose of doing a review. I was not compensated in any other way and all opinions are my own.

Shop Hop Saturday--Little Bit of This, Little Bit of That
As a reminder, here are my current goals: (may re-think them for the new year, not sure yet)
1. Build a new squidoo lens or update a previous lens each day.
2. Post at least 3 things a week to redgage.
3. Post 2 things a week into my etsy store and continue to move other things to my zibbet store.
4. Keep up with the reviews and regular postings to my blog.
5. Sew at least a little bit each day. (this goes with accomplishing goal 3)
I have been doing pretty well with #1--will head in there after I am done with this post for today's updating.
I just went to redgage and posted 3 photos. I was a little disappointed that the 3 videos I had posted to youtube this past week weren't auto added to redgage? They used to be. I know my wedding video was as I rec'd comments on it, but I can't even find it in my account now. This is one that needs to change for the new year. It didn't take me long at all to add the 3 photos, so why can't I take the time to make it to redgage daily? I accepted more friend requests and left lots of comments while I was in there too.
I posted 3 items for sale this week in my etsy store. I must add to this goal to move at least one item per day from etsy over to zibbet!
I am thinking for best results and sales I really must have a minimum of 50 items in my stores to choose from. Getting to that on zibbet won't be a problem if I just get busy transferring them over. With the free account on zibbet, 50 listings is your limit. I am perfectly fine with that number.
Yes, #4--still keeping up with regular postings on my blog, but still need to work on those reviews. In fact, I really need to review an album yet today and get that up along with a giveaway.
#5---I have indeed made it in to my craft room for some sewing each day this past week. A couple of the days weren't more than 10 or 15 minutes, but I am happy with that too!
That looks like that's it for this week's report. I will be working more this week to finish up Christmas gifts and wrapping.
Thanks again to Ruth of abitosunshine for hosting this shop hop each week. Please click the button at the top to learn more about it, post your own link, and/or support others who are working from home.

Shop Hop Saturday--Christmas Will Be Here Before We Know It
Here are my "mountain climbing" goals, with a change to the first one:
1.
2. Post at least 3 things a week to redgage.
3. Post 2 things a week into my etsy store and continue to move other things to my zibbet store.
4. Keep up with the reviews and regular postings to my blog.
5. Sew at least a little bit each day. (this goes with accomplishing goal 3)
1. My previous goal with squidoo was always to either update or build a new lens each day. I let that slip, but it's time to get back on track with squidoo. So far I am keeping up.
2. Unfortunately, I didn't make it in to redgage this past week at all.
3. I actually listed 4 things in my etsy store this week (there are 2 sets of the bibs)
4. I am keeping up with my regular posting here on my blog....again, I am still behind on my reviews, mostly the book reviews. I have 2 giveaways up currently that you may want to check out.
5. I only missed one day making it in to my craft room to sew. I still have to do so today, but it won't be using my machine, but instead ironing and cutting material to get ready for some projects.
There you have it, my report for this past week. I always look forward to doing these posts each week, and I thank Ruth, of abitosunshine, for hosting the blog hop too.

Mailbox Monday--Two Week Catch Up
I got so busy last weekend with Halloween that I didn't find the time to do my mail call post, so this is a double week post.
Week of October 23:

I'm not going to do a full list as you can see in the picture what I got. The Sour Patch candy I traded some of my gsn points for. Silly I know, but I knew Jasmine would eat them right away. Also from the week before I found Seventeen magazine, Good Housekeeping magazine and 3 pieces of hausernet mail that the kids had down from my mail spot.

In this picture a friend sent me both the Coke caps and 12 pack codes as well as the phone card. The Voice is my next book to review with booksneeze. The syrups are for review with free coupons to giveaway on my blog from shespeaks.
In my email for the 2 weeks I rec'd: $10 paypal from gather and $10 paypal from superpoints. Not so great on that part. I also sold a book through half.com as well as had money put into my checking account from previous book sales on half.com.
I rec'd my check from church for cleaning in October as well.
I am linking up with:
