WIP Wednesday -- Do I Have Time?

Just 5 days left to finish up my items that I am entering in the state fair.  Is that enough time?  I highly doubt it.

I actually am much further on the Heart wall hanging than this picture, so yes, I do have time to finish it.

While I had the sewing machine out I did take time out to work on the sets of coasters.  Actually, they are also finished, but I'm sharing this picture anyway.

It's the Christmas yo-yo table runner that I am just sure I can not finish in the 5 days I have left.  It's time consuming and I just have so many other things going on that it's so hard to find time to put on more than a few at a time!  If all else fails, I will turn in the valance that I have finished as a table runner.

I have no idea what I will have to show you next week, but hopefully something!

WIP Wednesday -- Working Away

I have actually been working daily on sewing.  Not that I get nearly as much done as many of the blogs that I see in the linky's but for me it's a good feeling to be doing more sewing.

I didn't get much done on the yo-yo table runner, but at least a start.  I need to highly concentrate on it mostly if it's to be done by September 4th.  I get so frustrated working with the invisible thread!

This is the lay out for my wall hanging for my quild's sponsorship in the state fair.

I got all 5 of the drawstring backpacks finished for quilt guild, which will be donated to First Call For Help.

I have a nice stack of coasters ready to sew up too.

I am working towards keeping my Etsy shop active.  I added another drawstring back pack to my inventory---after selling the other 2 that I had in stock.   I may need to think about getting more of those made to list.  Firstly though I must finish the items that I am entering in to the fair.  My next in line after that is making more microwave hot pads for my shop.

So much to do and so little time!!

WIP Wednesday --My Machine Was Out!

I actually had my machine out---twice this past week!

The first time was at the quilt shop for sit n' sew.  There I got the 5th of 10 rows added to my Arkansas Crossroads quilt.  Then I sat and figured out just how many more half square triangles that I need to complete the rest of the blocks.  I am a little sad that I still need to make 70 more.....I should grab those and start working on them once I get this post done.

The second time was here at home.
I worked on the space themed coasters and got another step closer to finishing the green string blocks.

My friend found a couple smaller pieces of black and white fabric in her stash and gave them to me.  I'm heading Friday to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Show so I knew I had to get the black and white with a little red quilt top out and see if what she gave me would be enough to finish the blocks.  I wanted to know as to know if I needed to be on the look out for more while at the show.
Yes!  I was able to finish the remaining 14 blocks.   Hoping to work more on this quilt over the next week.

And, last, but not least, I got more work done on the yo-yo projects.  I put a few more yo-yo's on to the first valance, but the lighting was so bad that I was having a terrible time working with the invisible thread.   I decided to get more yo-yo's made instead.  I still have quite the pile of fabric in my box to make in to yo-yo's.

If I can continue to have this much to show each week, I will feel like I am actually accomplishing something!  Wish me luck!

WIP Wednesday 5/22/13

I skipped posting last week.  I just didn't feel like I had made enough progress to post.
I did finish making all of those plastic canvas coasters (61 in all):
I then spent a few days working on making dish scrubbies.  I plan on setting up at the monthly flea market on June 2.  I'm working to fill my jar of scrubbies for sale.   I stopped on those and started working on a toothbrush rug.  It's been awhile since I've made one and they are fun.  This one is made in brighter colored material that I've been saving in a box.  I finally felt like I had enough strips in my box to complete a rug.  This is what it looks like so far, and I am loving the bright colors!
Last week I attended the Needlers group at the quilt shop and worked again on my applique bunnies.  I only get a bit done in those 2 or 3 hours, so not worthy of a photo each time.  However, I should be meeting with my stitch group monthly now too and progress further on those.
The Friday before was Sit n' Sew at the quilt shop.  I hadn't worked on on these blocks with the rectangles for a time.  I had 20 blocks made and I made 20 more that Friday night.  As of right now I doubt I will work on these except this once a month.  Looking at the box I'm sure I can make at least another 20 blocks.  I will make as many as I can and then decide what all I can make with them.
Last but not least, I worked more on the birthday pillowcases.   I have just the one completely done, and it's for Skyler, who has the first birthday on May 29.  I have 9 more to complete and all they need to be completed is that I am zig-zagging around the names.  The next 2 birthdays are June 1 and June 5, so those 2 are up next to finish.  Won't take me long to finish them all.

My days have been so crazy.....I don't really see that slowing down any with all the things I do outside the home as well as trying to keep up the home (which I am sucking at right now) and all the things that I  do on the computer.
I really need a schedule, even for days that I am away from home most all day!

WIP Wednesday--5/8/13

I didn't post last week.  I didn't have much progress, and sure not enough to warrant writing about!

I'm still moving along with the pillowcases, but only here and there.  I was able to buy the last fabric that I needed and have that last pillowcase started.  I do plan on getting it mostly done today.  It happens to be for the first grandchild's birthday of the year, which is May 28.  Then they start coming fast--the birthday's that is---June 1, June 5, July 3, August 13, August 15, August 29, September 8, November 7, and  then the last is my daughters birthday on October 9.
Means I should get this post done and move on in to my craft room and get to work.

Here is a picture I took of my progress:
Yesterday was sewing club at church, where I am still fighting away working on the quilt top that I've been working on for months!  One of the gals suggested that I go ahead and start putting some of the top together.  She said that would make me feel like I was at least getting somewhere with it.
So, here you have the top row of the middle part of the quilt:
I am still working away on my goal with making these plastic canvas coasters.  I have made over 50 of them so far and I'm still not out of that huge ball of yarn.  I hope hope hope to finish them up TODAY.  I really need to move on to other projects as I am planning on setting up to sell my crafts at the flea market June 2.

Moving along and getting back to work here, I am linking up with:

WIP Wednesday 4/24/13

Yesterday I realized I hadn't worked on any sewing since last Wednesday afternoon.  That's when I went to the stitch group at the quilt shop and finally worked on my bunnies again!

Laying all 20 of my bunny squares out and realizing that I only have 4 of them completed makes me really know just how much more work I have to do on them:
I spent time last night working on the pillow cases for the kids.  You get a boring photo of the pile of pillowcases.  I do hope by next week that I have a few of them completed.   I'm still trying to figure out just how I am going to sew around the lettering.  I was going to hand sew around them like I am the bunnies, but now I am realizing how many knots I would have on the under side.  I don't think that I can stitch the way I would want around the names with me sewing machine.  I will have to ask around and get advice.
I have worked here and there on the plastic canvas coasters while here on the computer all week.  I am now up to 34 of them made and still quite a bit of the huge ball of yarn left.

WIP Wednesday--Moving Right Along!

No, I didn't make it in to my craft room every day this week, but I did make it in there a couple of days.  That along with sit n' sew at the quilt shop and sewing club at church, I feel like I've gotten a lot done this week.

Here are the pillowcases so far.  I still have fabric to buy for one more, but they are rolling along now.
I ran into a couple of snags working on the quilt top for church, one being that a few of my rows I sewed together backwards.  Then, I thought I didn't have enough of the half square triangles so I went to work to make more.  I had enough!  I had forgotten that I already had one of the big blocks done already when I was counting.  Sheesh!   Give me another 6 months of sewing on this only at sewing club each month and this top might be completed.
The only thing I did in those 2 days sewing in my craft room was to work on more of the blocks with the rectangles.  Both days I only intended to at least sew 2 together.  I ended up with 17 sewn, plus the 3 I had originally sewn and then sewn together.  I will keep making the blocks, as many as I can with the rectangles that I have, and then determine just what I will make with them.
I have also worked on more coasters.  I was able to get more plastic canvas so will continue now to make those until I use up the entire huge ball of yarn.
Here is a picture of what they all look like.  I do have some in my etsy store already in sets of 4, 6, or 8.
I am in hopes to make it to the quilt shop this afternoon for the monthly needlers.  I want to work on the applique bunnies.  They've been sorely neglected!  If I do make it down there I will share a photo of my progress with those next week.

WIP Wednesday--Pillowcases and More

If I can stay on task and just keep working on my crafts and sewing every spare moment, I think I can really start to get somewhere!

Here are pillowcases that I am working on.  I am making one for each of my 9 grandchildren as well as my 16 yr old, for their birthday's this year.  I am appliquing their names on each one as well.   I did get some more fabric this past week and I worked on getting the names ready.  I do have 2 of the names cut and ready.  I should have gotten them out of the envelope, but hopefully those 2 pillowcases will be completely done by this time next week.
I've worked here and there on some sets of folded hot pads.
I don't know what I was thinking, but I started working on a quilt top.

I don't have a photo of progress on the quilt top for sewing club at church.  I did work on it a bit yesterday, but not enough to warrant taking a photo.  We will be meeting again next week so I will get a progress photo at that time.  I spent some of yesterday getting help to finish this t-shirt dress.  It's for a blog tour/book review I am doing for Sew Pretty T-Shirt Dresses.

I completed 2 fabric bags this past week.  I hope to get those listed in my etsy shop today.   I've also been working like crazy on plastic canvas coasters.  I'm on a mission to make as many as I can out of this huge ball of yarn I had.  I think I might run out of plastic canvas sheets though before I run out of the yarn!   I'm going to keep working away.  I already have some of the coasters in my etsy store in sets of 4, 6 or 8.   I intend to take a picture of ALL of them once I am done.

I can't think of any other projects right now, so I will close for this week.  I am linking up with the following blogs:

WIP Wednesday--Rug and Coasters

That's about all I've worked on since the 1st of the year-----a toothbrush rug that I had started months ago.   I am getting pretty close now to getting it finished and itching to get my materials sorted to start another one.
This one is made with flannel strips.
The other thing is coasters.  I found in my stash this huge ball of yarn.  I mean huge!   My first thought was to make hot pads with matching coasters, but then I thought maybe the sparkly type yarn just wouldn't do well for hot pads.  I decided that instead I would make as many coasters as I can out of it.  I have quite the stash of plastic canvas sheets, so this should go well.
I have one set listed in my etsy shop, but will have these listed in sets of 4, 6 and 8.
I have 8 of them made so far:
I have a load of different projects that I want to get started on as well as still quite a lot of UFO's waiting to be finished.  Nothing new here!

Yesterday was sewing club at church.  I have all of the smaller squares finished now.  If I don't start finding at least a little time each week to work on this quilt at home it's going to take me well over a year just to get the top done.
I have been blessed in the past month or so with gifts of fabric.   One gal who works at the quilt shop has given me 3 bags of fabric.  Then the quilt shop gave me all of the fabric shown in the photo below.  A man donated it to the shop--his wife has passed away and it was hers.  How nice of him, but the quilt shop doesn't work with things like this, so they thought of me.  Part of what you see in the photo will be made in to pillow cases to be given to the foster care agency.  I'm sure some will be made into quilts for church.  I have plans of making doll quilts with the tin of 2 inch squares.
What will next week bring?  For one thing, it's brings a week of vacation for my husband.  We only plan a 1 day trip this vacation.
