Frugal Friday With Marsha -- Friday Freebies
Are you getting your Friday Freebie each week from Kroger? Our Kroger stores are Dillon's.
Here is a picture of some of the foods we have gotten free recently:
Other recent Friday Freebies not pictured are Annie's Macaroni and Cheese, Simple Truth Organic Tortilla Chips, Sara Lee Bread, and so much more.
Today's Friday Freebie is a Hershey's Cookie Layer Crunch Caramel candy bar!! Doesn't that sound scrumptious and something to help that sweet tooth?
My point of this post is to take advantage of these freebies. They will help you save money on your grocery bill, and assure that you aren't hungry.
p.s. Watch for the coupons that they send you in the mail too. This bundle we got last week includes a free coupon for a box of Cheerios as well as a free coupon for a box of Keebler Club Crackers. More great ways to ensure we don't go hungry!
Here are some books you might find interesting:

WIP Wednesday-- Same Old Same Old
I skipped out on my post last Wednesday as we spent the morning at the Salvation Army getting our taxes done.
You might be bored anyway since I am still just working on the same two things! With any luck, the weather will hold up this month and the monthly sit n' sew at the quilt shop won't end up canceled this month like it was last month. The project I intended to work on last month is still in the bagged I packed it in.
In the meantime, I am still plugging away making 3 yo-yo's a day. My pile of fabric in the box has to be going down, but it sure doesn't seem like it! I plan to start putting the yo-yo's together at a quilt retreat at the end of April. Surely by then I will have most all of these made.
More work done on the selvage toothbrush rug. I just might be done with this in the next couple weeks or so. I do hope so as I have other rugs on my list of 17 in 2017 to finish.
You can see my list of 17 in 2017 in the left side bar. I have no idea when I can get back to the soscrappy challenge. Here it is February and I've not looked to see what this month's color is!

Valentine's Day Collector's Bills Starts Today!

One of my favorite things about using Swagbucks is that I can get rewards for searching the web through their search engine. Every now and then they have "Collector's Bills" worth bonus SB points that you can collect by simply searching the web. Collect them all, and you get an SB Bonus! Once you've collected enough SB, you can redeem them for gift cards to stores like Walmart, Target, and many more!
Here's all the information for this week's Valentine's Day Collector's Bills:
Search the web through the Swagbucks search starting Monday, February 6th through Friday, February 10th, and when you get a search win, you may get a special Collector’s Bill valued at either:
- 5 SB
- 7 SB
- 9 SB
- 14 SB
- 21 SB
When you get a Collector’s Bill you’ll receive the value of the bill and the bill will be added to your “Collector’s Bills” ledger. Collect all 5 Collector’s Bills and you’ll instantly earn a 20 SB Bonus!
Keep searching til you find them all!

Frugal Friday with Marsha-- What's Been Going On
Things got crazy last Friday and I didn't get my post done. More about that later.
Let's see how this week has been.
1. I found out when my daughter bought some that Dollar Tree sells anti-freeze. Yes, they are small bottles--14 oz. It comes out to be about the same cost of buying a gallon, but it's a lot easier for me to come up with a few dollars to buy a few small bottles at a time. It's also all I can add to my radiator anyway as there is a leak somewhere. (Much more frugal if I had the money to have a mechanic fix the leak, but I don't have that money all at one time.)
2. We went to the Salvation Army to have our taxes done free. As long as you earn less than $50,000 a year you can get them done there free. I'm sure glad I finally talked my husband into stop paying H&R Block over $200 each year to get them done!
3. Speaking of my husband, that is why I missed last Friday. Thursday night our cable was shut off for non-payment of the bill. Friday I did some needed housework, then packed up my things and "moved" over to my mom's house to use her internet. Thankful that she had just put internet at her house the week before as it's my way of earning.
On this subject, hubby has finally came to the conclusion that we've been paying too much for cable. Yep, he's one of those men that unless he thinks he had the idea, it's a no go. I've been telling him for many months that $277 a month for the cable bill is just WAY too much!! I don't even know why it's that much. It used to be $150 a month and that included internet, home phone, and the DVR. I just wish it hadn't taken it being shut off and me leaving the house for him to finally decide it was his idea to do something about it. It will be awhile before he can pay what he currently owes.
4. How about hand me downs? This past week my tennis shoes had a blow out. I was wearing the last pair I had in the closet. Oh gosh. I hadn't had a chance to check the Goodwill store or Salvation Army for a pair, but my middle daughter gave me a pair of Puma's that were my step grandson's. They didn't fit him and had been laying around their house.
I've probably went on longer than I should, so will stop for this week. I wonder what this week will bring to report next week.
Have a happy and frugal week!

WIP Wednesday -- Just A Rug and Yo-Yo's
Unfortunately I never did find time yet to get my sewing machine out and get to work on the paper-piecing for the quilt guild challenge. Hopefully Friday I can finally get it out!
I am still keeping up with my 365 challenge of making 3 yo-yo's a day.
I also did more work on the selvage rug.
My 17 in 2017 challenge list is to the right. If you missed my post where I picture them all and would like to check it out, you can find that HERE.

Frugal Friday With Marsha -- Weekly Recap 1/20/17
Whew! It's been a good week. The days have flown by.
1. I had my annual doctor appointment. I am so thankful that my husband's work covers are health insurance. That is a HUGE savings. I am thankful that I earn online and I was able to pay my co-pay for the visit from my online earnings.
2. I still have yet to buy a Sunday paper for the coupons, but I have been using printable grocery coupons. I've mentioned the blog, Pinchin Paul, that I am following through twitter. I opened some of the posts that were for items that we use in our household, printed out the coupons, and actually gave those to my daughter to use.
3. I'm still working on establishing routines for my day, but still having trouble getting sidetracked--hence why I didn't get this blog post started until noon! It's not always a bad thing as I was doing some important things this morning getting some ads in rotation and such to hopefully improve my online earning, but I had other plans in my head for how my day was going to go.
4. I'm still reading The Six Dollar Family on my kindle app. I'm up to the chapter that includes recipes for health and beauty. That sounds interesting. I just might check those out too...and it could be some things to make for my daughters for their Christmas next year. I will have more on that later.
5. Not frugal related exactly, but something I just must share! My youngest daughter gave birth to my 11th grandchild Saturday, January 14th at 6:29 am. Amelia Isis Marie came in weighing 6 lb 2 oz and was 19 inches.
This is a picture that my daughter shared today on her facebook. I just love it and want to share it with my readers.
Until next week, I wish everyone a Frugal week ahead. I wonder what I might have to share with you next week.

Get Paid To Try Hulu!

If you've been thinking about trying Hulu, this is the time to do it. Thanks to an offer through Swagbucks, you get $20 (paid in the form of points called SB) for trying Hulu for a month. That will cost you $7.99, so you're making $12 on the deal!
Hulu has tons of current and classic programming, movies, brilliant original series, and more. Here's how you do it:
1. Click this link.
2. Create your Swagbucks account (takes 30 seconds)
3. Click "Continue" and sign up for Hulu
4. Enjoy Hulu! You should have your points within 30 minutes.
Haven't tried Swagbucks yet? They're a site where you earn points (called SB) for doing things like online shopping, watching videos, taking surveys, and discovering deals and services you might like to try (like Hulu!). You then take those points and turn them into free gift cards to places like Amazon, Starbucks, Walmart, Target, or PayPal cash.
This is a great time to join because when you sign up through the link above and get your 2000 SB, you'll get a bonus 300 SB at the beginning of February. So that's $20 (2000 SB) for trying Hulu plus your $3 (300 SB) bouns, which gets you 2300 SB, which means you make $15 total just for watching TV!

WIP Wednesday -- Yo-yo's and the Rug
I'm keeping up with my 365 so far so good with making 3 yo-yo's each day. I'm itching to start putting together the valances and table runner, but need to wait until I have yo-yo's made from each of the different fabrics in my box.
I worked more on the selvage toothbrush rug
I have listed my 17 in 2017 on the right side here on my blog along with the button to the blog that is hosting the challenge.
If you care to see pictures of all 17 you can see those in my post from last week.
