Squidoo Hoppng--Pinterest!

Ok, I'm slow.  I hesitated joining pinterest for the mere fact that so many were talking about getting lost there for hours looking at things.  I do too many things on the internet to get lost there....or so I thought.

It wasn't until after I joined that I realized we even have pin it on lenses for easy pinning!  I know I had been reading in the squidoo facebook group about others getting more views after pinning things.

I'm amazed at how many are following me each day.  I don't even know how they are finding me!

I do need some help with pinterest.  I don't need the help with squidoo lenses since the pin it button is already there for us, but I need help with pin it buttons on my blog.  Is there a way to have the pin it automatically show up in blog posts, or is there a code that I have to put in to each post?  I'm going to experiment with that in this post.   I just know I am seeing pin it in blog posts, and I am seeing blog posts being pinned.

What are your habits on pinning?  For right now I am trying to pin a lens by someone else for every one of my own that I am pinning.  And, so far I've only pinned a few of my own lenses....the first one to experiment....most others just as I have updated the lens. (I'm still working on my squidoo organized notebook)   Should I add the Follow me on Pinterest to each of my lenses?

I look forward to any and all input on Pinterest!

Now, onward.....I didn't build any new lenses this week but I did update some:

4 Weeks to Healthy Digestion b...

Uses for Newspapers

Question-----would you all like me to make a suggestion each week on lenses to link up?  For example:  link up your 2 bottom lenses  or link up 2 lenses with a rank between this number and that number or link up your newest lenses etc?   I can do something like this but you could also still feel free to link up anything.  Please give me some input as I really would love to see lots of lenses linked up each week.  Am I right in thinking that the linky works as backlinks?

Thanks!!

Squidoo Hopping---New Year for Squidooing!

Welcome to the first squidoo hop of the new year.  I hope this post finds everyone with a re-newed outlook for the new year.

I've found myself sidetracked in squidoo quite often this past week.  Just now I was doing a search to find the instructions to crochet a granny square and towards the top of my search was a lens!

I believe that I only updated one lens this past week.  I had to update This Day in History August 15.  I had put it down as Araya's birthday but it's Willo's!  Oopsie!   I do still have to build one for Araya's birthday, as well as my mom's, and 2 of my grandsons--Tristian and Cash.

I did build 2 new lenses though....2 in a week for me??  The first one is Crafts as Gifts 2012.  I realized that my original Crafts as Gifts lens was just getting far too large.   I have vowed to make 2012 a home made gift year, so I plan on having plenty to add to the lens throughout the year.  I started the lens with a few items that I hadn't added to my original lens.   (I also made a page here on my blog Handmade in 2012 Linky, so please do continue to add links on hand made items to the list.  I'm loving what has been added so far.)

A couple of days ago I had newspapers on my mind.  I was away from home all day, but once home I spent over 2 hours putting together a Uses for Newspapers lens.  Wow!  A search came up with hundreds of things spanning several websites.  I opted to just list the things I have done, along with one I would like to try.....then make a link list with websites of other lists.

In other news---no reply yet on my request to use a scanned picture of the postcard in my Elvis lens.  I'm thinking I probably will not get a reply.  Several have told me about fair use, but just like my husband, say that Graceland is a stickler on copyright.   I still wish I could find the rest of the postcards that I bought while I was there.

I am off for this week, but I do hope to see lots of you link up this week.

Squidoo Hopping--All Those Wishlists!

Wishlists seems to be the in thing right now with Christmas around the corner......and all the lenses of lists for boys, girls, moms, etc etc.
I made my own--Grandma's Christmas Wishlist.  I just updated it to add in 2 more things I remembered last night.   This, is also my goal list as I won't get any of it as gifts.  Ok, so my goal list is where I came up with the list to begin with  LOL   I wonder if any of my choices are on your list?

I also updated Learning About Greece to add in a couple more photos and 2 more books.  I am adding a new picture for each book we finish.  We  still have 5 books to read about Greece so this one will continue to grow.

Homeschool--Books Used For 2011/2012 was at the bottom of the list with a ranking close to 500,000---yikes!  I added another photo there and another book....and a black box module directing to the Learning About Greece lens.  It's somehow moved to a rank of 140,000 which is cool.

I still can't get the facebook fan page module to work.  I still need to totally re-do my etsy lens.  My etsy store is looking slim since when items expire I am moving them to zibbet instead of paing to re-list them in etsy.  Also, I have been selling things---3 orders in the past 2 days.   I'm going to put in my zibbet banner to direct them there when I update it.  Typing this is making me want to stop everything else and go get that done.  I will make that a to-do for today, definitely!

In the meantime, I do hope to see several link ups this week.  Isn't squidoo great?

Squidoo Hopping--Tentacles in a Twist

Tentacles in a twist---that was the message I kept getting all last night as I tried to build a new lens.  Thankfully I was able to get up this morning and get the new lens built.

KT Tunstall Tiger Suit --This is a music album review lens.  I must learn how to fancy up my lenses like I see so many others do.  My text modules just look blah.  If you can direct me where to learn how to liven them up, please do so!

I don't believe that I updated any lenses this past week.  I'm guilty of still being in a sewing frenzy.  Must learn to divide my time up better.  In the meantime, here are some of my "in the pink" lenses that could use some love to raise lensrank until I can find the time to get some updating done.

The Bride Collector by Ted Dek...

Jasmine's Lapbooks

Crash by Mayra Calvani

I'm sad to report that I didn't make enough this month to get paid.  I would have if I hadn't started donating though, so that is still good.  I have a long ways to go to get all of my lenses giving 10% to a charity.

I'm going to close for today and get this linky going.  I look forward to any additions to the linky this week.

Squidoo Hopping--What Are Outlinks?

Good Thursday to all----my first question--what are outlinks?  How do you see what outlinks are on a lens?
I have one of my lenses marked for:
Spam content see less
We're no puritans, but there are certain words and word patterns that often indicate a type of lens content or topic that we can't support on Squidoo. Our system has found a few of these topic or word patterns on this lens. Read a brief set of guidelines about SquidDon't topics: http://www.squidoo.com/squiddont.

P.S. It's possible your lens is in good standing, yet one of your readers has posted spam content in a Guestbook or Duel module. Try reviewing the comments published on this lens. If you find spam there, chances are good that's why your lens is flagged.

Squidoo Hopping 10/27--Rocketmoms Assignment

Looking through my email I seen one for a rocketmoms assignment.  I've not kept up at all with the assignments but opened the email.  The assignment was to make a lens around a photograph you had taken.  Right away I stopped everything else and went to building.  I love that sunflower picture I took over the summer.

So, you will see my newest lens is Giant Sunflowers.  I've gotten very good comments on it that I still need to approve most of.  I will head in and do that after I get this post done.

I always right click to open the persons lensmaster page before approving the comment.  This way I can return the comment favor by commenting on one (or more) of their lenses as well.

I think I did work in a couple other lenses this past week, but since I didn't take a note about it, I don't remember which ones.  Yes, I am getting old....well ok, so I'm not....but I have so much going on that without notes, I am lost.

I added a list of my Jerky Direct downline's stores into my Jerky Direct Business Opportunity lens.  It's one way I could think of to maybe help my downline build.

I never did get the facebook fan page module to work for me, so I need to get into the forum and ask for help.  I'm putting in the correct address to my fan page so I have no idea why it's not showing up.  If I really need numbers to put in there I don't know where I would go to find those since it's been marshasspot at the end of the url for awhile now.

Squidoo Hopping Link Up--10/13/11

Happy Thursday--Let's get to Squidoo hopping!

I'm still not finding the time that I want and need to dedicate to squidoo  :(

I did an update in my Jerky Direct Business Opportunity lens.  I updated some of the wording to be read better and updated the sizes of the packages.

I'm still working on getting all of my lenses giving 10% to a charity.  This week I added The LiveLovely Foundation to my Guns n' Roses lens, and dosomething.org to my Death Note lens.

I got a couple more of my lens links shared on redgage.

I did add my more recent book review lens into my book reviews lens.  Boy, do I have a lot of book review lenses that could be built!   I also need to play catch up on getting This Day in History lenses done for dates that are important to me too.  Once I get them caught up I want to build a placeholder lens where anyone looking for a certain date might find it in that lens.   I've still not started the new homeschooling lens for this year either.  Who knows, I might surprise you next week and actually have new lenses to announce!

Yay! It's squidoo payday today too. $13.50 is my payday this week plus what was given to charity. My paydays are low but I strive to put in more time on squidoo and continue to watch each month grow. I am seeing some going to charity now with the lenses that I have moved over too.

Please do hook up and share your lenses, or posts that include helpful information about squidoo.  Thanks!

Squidoo Hopping (linky)--Where else do you post your links?

That is today's question.  Where else do you list your squidoo lens links?

This was brought to my mind when I happened over to redgage.  I hadn't been there for quite some time.  At one point I started linking up my lenses there.  I linked up a few more while I was there, and plan to try to get in each day and at least link up one (as well as add a photo or something else too while I'm there.)

Sometimes I will do a post over on gather.com and put in a link to one or more of my lenses.  Actually, I joined a group that's purpose was to share our links to other things we do online for pay.  I linked up several of my lenses and my post was flagged by someone!  I've been on the scared side about trying to do that again.  I just sneak them in every once in awhile now.

Of course I'm getting links to my lenses here in my blog, particularly in these posts each week.

This past week I updated my All About Marsha lens.  Silly  me...I was going paragraph by paragraph to update then when I got to the end I seen that I had updated it all at the bottom  LOL  I just deleted that update and left the new ones.  I put in a wedding video too.

I also updated my Gather--The BEST in Social Networking lens.  I added more redemption's rec'd. I also added a featured lenses module highlighting the other gather lenses that I found.

I did update a couple of other lenses this past week, but since I didn't make a note, well......I just don't remember what they were!  (This happens to your brain when you are trying to do way more things than you should be!)

Here's hoping to see lots of you link up this week---

Squidoo Hopping Linky 9/29/11--More for Charity

Happy Squidoo Thursday!

I'm still on my march to get all of my lenses where 10% is being donated to charity. I do wish there was some charity related to music. I would like the charity to somewhat match what the lens is about. There are so many charities to choose from. A lot of them however, are city or area specific. For example, I chose one before that I thought was to help all across America to needy families to provide a Thanksgiving meal. Once I chose it I realized it was just one town. I don't even know which state this town is in! Oh well, I did keep it on the lens.

I went in and updated my Elvis Presley lens to add dosomething.org as the charity. While I was there I seen that one of the videos was no longer available so I changed that out as well.

I also updated my Trunk or Treat lens. This was on the prompting of squidoo to change it's topic so it would be in the Halloween magazine. I did change the topic as well as added dosomething.org for the charity as well.

I have a notebook with my lenses written in it. They aren't in any particular order really. I started my list by going down my list of lenses and then have just added each one as I made them. I'm trying to stay in an order of the pages for the most part as I update to add a charity. It's easier for me to keep track that way and assures that the older lenses are getting some love.

Last week after reading Gale's blog post from the linky I updated my Legos lens. Gale's son put together a Lego lens and I added his to my list of featured lenses.

That's it for my report today. I hope to see many link up. Keep me squidoo hopping please! I am in hopes of getting at least one new lens built next week.

Squidoo Blog Hopping 9/22/11--Linky

Good morning and welcome to this week's squidoo blog hop! This blog post marks my 1000th post since I started this blog!!

I love squidoo and have so many lenses that I need to take the time to get built.

A lot  of this past week has been working to promote the Spoooky Celebration that I will be participating in coming up soon.   Since it's an online party, I went in last night and updated my Online Parties lens.  This lens lets you know more about what an online party is and I've added an announcement box to put in info on any online parties that I am taking part in.

A couple of weeks ago I built another book review lens--  Finances Without Fear.  I think I forgot to mention it.  Boy do I have tons of other book review lenses that I can build!

In looking at my comments this morning, I found out that my My Toothbrush Rug lens is highlighted in Bonnie's 50 Crafts I Want to Try lens.  How cool is that?  Now I'm going to have to spend the rest of this day checking out the other lenses she has highlighted and get inspired to keep on working.

Time to get busy so I hope to see many of you link up this week!

Squidoo Blog Hopping 9/15/11--Linky!!

Ack!  I've been so busy away from home this past week.  You can probably tell that by the fact that I've not even done a post on my blog since last Saturday.

I've been in and out of squidoo looking at other's lenses but did nothing to any of my own---other than finding out I forgot to link the banner in my Online Craft Mall lens to actually make it go to the information page.  If you've not been to the lens and checked out the Spoooooky Celebration, please do so.

Otherwise, here are just some of my lenses that are in the pink.  Some are repeats that I still need to take time to get some updating done on.  All of them, I can at least choose a charity to give 10% to.  If you want to give them some lens love that would be awesome!

Jasmine's Lapbooks
WWJD for Kidz Book Review
Miserly Moms by Jonni McCoy

I hope to really start to see more hopping along with us each week with more hopping along each week. Thank you Sara for helping to get the word out....and Ruth too.

Squidoo Hopping 8/11/11

First of all, let me apologize for not having this post up last week....and not letting you know ahead of time that I was probably taking last week off from my blog.  Actually, I thought I would keep up with my blog.  Little did I know  he he.  It was a great newlywed/vacation/family week.

I have not done a thing with any of my lenses.  I keep thinking of it, but letting other things get in my way.

So today I'm going to share some of my lenses that have dropped below the 400,000 ranking mark and are in the pink.  As always, as you look at them, if you have suggestions, please feel free to let me know.  There seems to always be something you can do to a lens that will give it an update.

When Ghosts Speak-Book Review  --

This is a book that I won as a spine chilling book package from gather.com.  This is a very interesting read for sure.  One that I want to read again.

Online Craft Mall  --If you make crafts to sell, you will want to check this one out.  Ralyn does a great job running the craft mall and membership costs very little compared to other sites like it out there!

Meatball Subs  --  This one was a recipe lens assignment through rocketmoms.  I know Ruthi wants to know more about rocketmoms so we need to get her an invite to join in on the next session.  Rocketmoms is a group on squidoo where you get assignments on lenses to build for 6 weeks.  To graduate you must complete all assignments.  Along the way there are bonus assignments.  Everyone helps each other out with ideas and ratings.  I've been honored to be a part of the group.  I've not kept up very well with future assignments after my graduation, but have done some of them here and there.

Kansas--Our First Lapbook!  -- I love this lens, and the lapbook that we made.  We get this one out quite often.  Jasmine is really too old now to make the lapbooks but I'm still in hopes of interesting her into making more anyway.  She could even make it a project to make them for the younger kids to learn from.

That's all for me this week.  I look forward to getting back to work in squidoo and clicking along as you add to my linky.

Squidoo Hopping 7/21/11

Thursday snuck right up on me this week.

I've been in and out of squidoo this week a lot, but sure didn't get anything built or updated. Well, I did update one lens.

I'm still checking out Fotolia, which I am having lots of fun. With the free 30 day membership they gave me I can download up to 5 photos per day. I'm having fun looking up words of interest like coupons, crafts, crochet, etc. I am getting photos saved that I will use in my lenses and in my blog. Be on the look out for my review because 3 of my lucky readers who comment will also win a 30 day membership!

Ok, I played around a little in my Pop Tarts Vs. Toaster Strudel lens. This was a Rocketmoms challenge once to make a comparison lens. I didn't do well with it, but sure couldn't think of anything else to compare. I doubt I do another comparison lens.

Here are a couple of lenses that are in the pink that can use views to move up.

Alrighty....I hope to see lots hook up this week. I really appreciate those of you that are working to help me get the word out about the hop. Thanks!

Squidoo Hopping 7/7/11

Happy Thursday!
It's not been that great of a week for me as far as my lenses go....well, getting anything done really. I did do a lot of hopping around on squidoo, just didn't do much with my own.

I did update My Toothbrush Rug to include links to a great blog where she gives step by step instructions with photos. Soon enough I will be finishing up that lens with the pic of my rug finished.

I finally was getting around last night to building This Day in History July 3 in honor of my grandson's birthday (Allen) but it kept having problems. It took out most of the pre built Homeschool Club modules, wouldn't load photos, and then wouldn't publish. I finished it up this morning with the exception of the Homeschool Club modules.

Here are a couple of my lenses from the bottom of my list that can use some love until I get around to updating them:
Kansas--Our First Lapbook!
With Voilets by Elizabeth Robards

I noticed something about the related lenses as well. If we don't choose in edit what we wanted there, they are there anyway, chosen by squidoo, I assume by tags. I forgot about it on the lens I did today and one of my This Day in History showed up in the list of 5.
There are so many different things you can do to update a lens and freshen it, and putting in your own related lenses is just one. No reason why I can't get in and at least update a lens each day if I'm not building a new one....and I have loads of new ones I can get built as well!!

I hope to see a lot of lenses to hop over and check out this week in the linky.

Squidoo Blog Hopping 6/30/11

Happy Thursday! Sorry this is being posted later today that I wanted. Oops, I was sleeping way in after a migraine headache last night.

I didn't stay near as busy with squidoo this past week as I wanted to or should have. I had something I wanted to ask or discuss and it's left my brain right now. I should have made a note! LOL

I remember!! I built a lens last night and messing in the intro part I noticed tabs at the top I hadn't seen before. Oh gosh, I feel stupid. Related lenses....wow! What a way to back link to other lenses that have the same subject as the one you are in. Last night I built This Day in History June 29 and so related lenses are some of my other this day in history lenses, but I can see, say on my book review lenses finding other lenses on the book and sharing those links to help others. I'm excited, as I now have something I can do to each one of my lenses to make an update, and therefore get more views on them. Oh yes!! This lens marked my 100th lens as well!!

I also updated 2 lenses this past week--I had some suggestions last week on my My Book Reviews lens, so took the advice and changed it up a bit. Now if I could just get in all the book reviews I still have done to make in to lenses!

We had 27 bicyclists stop in at our church's bike hostel. They are one of 3 groups that are biking coast to coast to raise money for cancer research. I took a photo, not of the riders, but of all their bikes and bags in the basement of our church and added the photo, along with a link to the website on my Bike Hostel, Hutchinson, KS lens.

Awhile back I read a suggestion, I believe in the Rocketmom's ning board to take a calendar and mark on it important dates that have to do with your lenses. Then, each year on those dates, highlight your lens in some way. For example, on my calendar I put both the birth date and death date for Elvis. I'm slowly going through my lenses now to make notes. My plan on the this day in history lenses is to add one new bit of history each year.

Anyway, enough babbling on my part. I hope to continue to see more and more share in the linky below. It really keeps me motivated, and we can all support each other as lensmasters.

Squidoo Hopping 6/23/11

Welcome to another week of Squidoo blog hopping!

This week I want to ask a question about those lenses that go "in the pink".  It's my understanding that once the ranking gets 400,000 or more they are no longer even able to be found in the search engines?  If that's the case, how are they to get higher in rank....other than we promote them and/or update them in some way.  They become works in progress in the low ranking.  It's frustrating me.
With the thousands and thousands of lenses out there, how in the world would you prevent your lenses from going in to work in progress status?

Ok...on that note, here are most of the lenses that I am now showing in the pink.  Some I'm not worried about as I'm going to delete them once I get more built.

Superdove Book Review

Kansas--Our First Lapbook!

Meatball Subs

Crash by Mayra Calvani

Sorry, another question.  Two of these are book reviews, which in turn are listed within my Book Reviews lens.  If they are in the pink and considered a work in progress, I notice they are not showing on my list on my bio page as well as when you read my bio, they aren't even counted as how many lenses I have.  Does this mean they aren't showing up in my book reviews lens to maybe get some exposure from there?

Now....back to the lenses that I have updated since last Thursday:

Jerky Direct Business Opportunity

All About Marsha

Gather The BEST in Social Networking

I hope to see lots to hop around to this week!

Squidoo Hopping 6/9/11

Welcome to another week of squidoo blog hopping. If you know others who blog about anything squidoo, please let them know about this hop and encourage them to hop along.

I didn't get much done in squidoo this past week. Most of you know that my daughter gave birth to my newest granddaughter, Zelda, this past Sunday. Hey, if you don't, you can see a photo of her in her in her going home outfit in my WIP post yesterday. Yes, I am a very proud grandma!

I updated my Traffic Exchanges lens. Reallysmartdeals has a new owner and it just keeps improving. You even earn cash along the way while surfing too. Many people use the banner and text link exchanges for their squidoo lenses!!

I also updated my Crafts as Gifts lens, adding the baby hat and baby set that I made for Zelda.

Squidoo Hopping 6/2/11

Welcome to another week of squidoo blog hopping. I'm still in hopes that over time many will join in. I love squidoo. I enjoy seeing what lenses others build as well as getting to know other lensmasters.

This past week I actually worked on 5 different lenses.

Meet Our Pets was at the bottom of the list and has needed to be updated for a long time. I finally got that updating done. I couldn't bear to take out the old photos as we miss those cats that are no longer with us. I've left those in for memory sake.

I got started on Our Homeschooling Journey 2010/2011 Part 5. This will be the last of this years series. I've included a poll on advice on what to do for next year. I hope you will let me know what you think.

Yesterday was my grandson's 2nd birthday. In honor of his day I built This Day In History June 1. I'm getting more of these done and really enjoy making them.

Then, I messed with Our Unschooling Journey Part 3. I was thinking that I had updated part 4....oops! I will have to work on 4. There isn't much updating one can do to lenses of this type.

Last but not least by any means...I updated my Earn Money Online lens. I deleted some and added some! I hope you will check it out.

Squidoo Hopping 5/19/11

With bloggers down time last week it seems my Squidoo blog hop post also disappeared.

I did learn some things last week while hopping around.  The first thing was that we can place our own affiliate coding in to the modules.  That sure would have been something to know all along!  I have my work cut out for me to go through all my lenses and change these out.  I do sell things in amazon from time to time.

I built a lens yesterday putting in my own AISN number for amazon.
This Day in History April 30 is what I chose to build.  I need to keep up with these, not just doing days that are of importance in history to me.  I have lots of dates throughout the year that have meaning to me, but right now those are few and far between.  Next up is my brothers birthday next week, so I hope to do another date before that.

I went in this morning to update my Bicycle Hostel--Hutchinson, KS.  I was in hopes of adding links to directories of hostels around the US.  What I found in search was about nothing!  If by chance you know of any bike hostel listings, please let me know.  I found lots of hostel listings, but not specifically for bicyclists, and certainly not free.  I do also realize that many of them along the bike route are not free to stay like the one at my church is.

I'm going to close for now, but I should have a lot of updated lenses to list next week as well as hopefully a couple of newly built ones as well.

Please remember that I appreciate a link back to my post if you hop along, whether it's a link withing your post, or if you use my button in your post, or have the button on your sidebar.  Thanks!
