SIS Shares in Squidoo--More Sewing From Me

SHARES IN SQUIDOO

Last week I shared some of my favorite quilting lenses.  This week I want to concentrate more on sewing in general.
I didn't own a sewing machine until about 4 years ago when m husband bought me a machine.  My intention was pretty much just to make quilts, but I have learned to make some other things along the way.  I am loving to sew and have even joined in on sit n' sew at the local quilt shop once a month.  I'm on the look out for other small sewing groups I can join as well.

I want to start this week with a lens that is still about quilts.  It's all about Quilts for Kids.  I have sent the lensmaster a photo of the quilt I made for Quilts for Kids that she will be adding to the lens at a later date.  I am also presenting Quilts for Kids at our guild board meeting tomorrow.

These 3 lenses will help you get started with sewing!

As for my own sewing, this week I am going to highlight my etsy lens.  You will see some of my sewing items listed.  I have a goal to keep this lens up as well as keep adding more and more to my etsy shop.   I so wish we could delete sold or expired etsy items from the module over having to completely remove and replace the module on squidoo.

p.s.  Please please feel free to pin my lens, or any of my items for sale over to pinterest  :)  Thanks!

TGIFF--Let's Play Catch Up on Finishes!

OMG!  How many Friday's have gotten by me and I've not shared my finishes?  I really have lost count.
Tonight is sit n' sew at the quilt shop.  It's a crying shame that I have not done any sewing since the last sit n' sew.  Sad that I have to take my machine and go away from home to get any sewing accomplished!  At least I don't remember sewing anything in the last 4 weeks.  Surely it's not been 4 weeks since my last finish?  Yep, this is how my days have been---so busy that I don't know which way is up!

I am now on the board of our quilt guild.  I am the historian and I'm already wondering what I've done.  It's not much more than taking pictures, getting them printed and putting them in the photo album with a description.  I should be able to handle that and I do enjoy taking pictures.  Also anything in the newspaper about our guild will go into the book.

I've signed up for the Sampler at the quilt shop.  This block of the month club goes for 20 months.  I'm excited to learn new techniques.  IF I remember, I will share my newest completed block each month.

Not sewing related, but I also discovered a local facebook group for couponers.  That has really got me motivated to keep my coupons in order and look for, and take advantage of, the good deals out there.

Ok...let's move to my finishes (can I find the one photo since I've gotten a new computer since completing it?)   Yay!  I found it in a folder dated 4/18.  Has it really been that long since I finally completed this scrappy quilt for sewing club at church?    It turned out great and has been labeled and donated to the Domestic Violence Center along with 4 polysester quilts that we finished up (the tops were done and donated to us)
Here is a better photo I am finding in my 4/24 folder.  You can see the design much clearer in this one....as well as out 2 cats thinking they need to check it out.
And a close up of the binding and the material I chose to use for the backing.

I had a request to make a plastic bag holder for an order.  I found out they are easy and fun to make.  I actually made several and have more cut and ready to make.  Some are up in my etsy shop.
I attended my first ever workshop.  It was great fun and great learning.....and very expensive!  The technique is called Fusique and was taught by Linda Everhart of quiltingamongfriends.com.
Here is my completed table runner.   Since I have chosen fabric for another one.  I am using the pattern, modified a bit to make a wall hanging for my kitchen.  I need to do a lot with it considering the money put out to learn to begin with  :)
Last but not least on my catching up to post is the quilt that I made for Quiltsforkids.org.  This was my first time trying to machine quilt.  I am not happy with it at all, but I am assured by others that I did well for my first time.  The biggest problem is that the quiltsforkids do want them to be perfect for the kids.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my finishes.  Off I go now to add to this weeks TGIFF post and check out the finishes of others!  Click the button at the top of this post to see everyone's work.

WIP Wednesday---I'm Getting There

Last Friday was the monthly sit n' sew at the quilt shop.  I'm loving this each month!  For one thing, I get to visit with other quilters, and for another, I actually get things done.  I sure get a lot more done when I take my sewing machine away from the house--and away from the computer and the TV.

I did complete the squares for the Emerald Aisle table runner.  Now to just get it finished!

I got in some more work on my string type quilt.  I'm starting to think this is the never ending project.  I got more squares ironed and cut down and have strips pinned for sewing.  I think I just have 9 more squares to get made.  I don't think I can make it any bigger with what fuzzy material that I have.

I have the top completed on the quilt for quilts for kids.  It's a cute pattern that I will try to make more of.  I need to complete this and get it back in the mail.

Time for my 2 week check in on my granny a day challenge.  Here we are to day 137.  I am no further this time around than what you see in the photo.

I've been working this past week to get things listed in my etsy shop and get that going again.  Also to get some things transferred over to my zibbett store.

WIP Wednesday--What Can I Say?

What can I say?  Just that as usual I am trying to do way too many projects all at once, and not really completing any of them!  LOL

I have no progress on my string type quilt.
I have very little progress on the Emerald Aisle table runner---only got a few more pieces cut out.

I had a request for me to make a plastic bag holder and I got stuck making more.  You all know by now how I am on new projects  :)

Yesterday was monthly sewing club day at church.  I finished up a quilt top that I had started before working on that scrappy quilt.
My quilt for kids kit came in the mail Monday, so once I was done with the quilt top above I got out the materials and got a start on making it.

This Friday is sit n' sew at the quilt shop from 6-10 pm.  I haven't decided yet which projects I am going to take to work on!  One thing is for sure though.  I will have progress made on whatever I choose to take.  It's bad that most of my sewing time ends up away from home....away from the tv and this computer.

That is my report for this week.  I am linking up with the following blogs:
