Frugal Friday With Marsha -- Upcycling and More

I'm going to start out this week talking about the bedroll that I am currently crocheting.  Making bedrolls with plarn (plastic yarn) is the latest request from the agency First Call for Help.  They will then give them to the homeless.
I've been busily cutting the tremendous amount of plastic grocery sacks that we have here at the house, and then crocheting them into making the bedroll.
I have a LONG way to go before this is 6 ft long, and I'm guessing well over 200 bags to make it.

I've been wanting to get back to crocheting with plarn and this is the perfect project to start with.  I MAY make more after this one that will go to my middle daughter and her family for their primitive camping.....or, I might move on to making more of the grocery sacks.  I also seen to make placemats and coasters as well.

This past week my online and app earnings included:

**$2 to my Perk Plastik card from PerkTV.  (use code 860efbf6 for bonus points for signing up)
**$25 PayPal from Swagbucks (notice this is the 3rd week in a row I've rec'd $25 from Swagbucks?)
**$2 amazon from C+R Research
**$9.45 to my checking account from a sale in my Etsy shop. (I forgot to go pay the fees and shipping before it was transferred to my bank or it would have been less, and now the fees and shipping still do need to be paid)

WIP Wednesday -- Another New Project

When our quilt newsletter came out, there was an article about something else that the agency First Call For Help would like made to give out.  That something are plarn bed rolls for the homeless.
I've been wanting to crochet with plarn again for a very long time.  This is a good time to start.  Great way to get rid of the over abundance of plastic grocery sacks that are piling up at our house too.

I wonder just how many bags it will take to make a 6 foot long bedroll....
I am adding these on to my 6 list for the year.  I'm putting bedrolls as I do intend to make more than one.  I'm not sure if they will go to charity past this first one though.  My middle daughter and her family primitive camp and they could use these mats too!

I did more work on my Penny rug this week.  I got a few circles sewn on and started to trim around those.   I highly doubt I find time this week to get it out again.  I want to though!

I put together 3 sets of double folded hotpads to sew up.

Lastly this week, I did more cutting.  Everything I cut is not in this picture, but you get the idea.  The biggest, and hardest part for me, is actually putting what I cut in with the project I've cut it for!  I've spent some time this week attempting to find my other bags of cuts and put them where they belong, but I have a long way to go on that!!

I made myself a promise to work on something each and every day no matter how little time I find for it.  If I can keep it up like I have this past week, then things will start getting done-----that is if I can stop myself from starting new projects so often.  😳😀😣

I should close now and get busy!

Handmade Gifts for Ariel

A financial dilemma made me really think about the birthday's of 3 granddaughters this month.
Handmade is better anyway, so what was I thinking?

Today is Ariel's 7th birthday.

I had ran across a squidoo lens about bracelets made from plarn.  That sparked an idea.   I also crocheted her a necklace with beads.  Both are shown in the photo below:

As I sat making those another idea hit me that I had thought of one other time.  Make them quilts for their dolls!   I have quite a pile of different sized squares that are left over from other quilts.  I got to work.  It wasn't getting as large as I wanted it to be so I kept adding on here and there until I thought it was an acceptable size.  I think this is what you call true quilting.
Here is what I came up with.  I have 2 more to make, including Willo's today.  Each will be different than the others.

I will end with a picture of the birthday girl with her cake:

I hope to start doing more of these frugal gift posts.

Thursday February 26

Good Morning. The weather is making a change. After a few days of spring like weather it's clouded up and is very moist outside. I guess we see what it brings with it.
Today is another busy day. I was to take my daughter to a dr. appt. this morning but her boyfriend ended up able to take her. I am going to volunteer in Ariel and Araya's Headstart classroom today. We are planning a get together at my brothers later this afternoon with my aunt and uncle.
I am trying to get most all my internet stuff done on the computer before leaving for Headstart.

I am almost done doing my clearing work in my group on gather. This is something I didn't find the time to do at all yesterday.

I did get a couple of squidoo lenses updated yesterday and a couple more updated this morning. Here is the last one I updated: Earn With Marsha

I got quite a bit of work done on the newest plarn pattern I am trying while out and about yesterday. I will take it when we go today too. I will close for now. I do want time for a short rest time this morning before the afternoon in a classroom of 3, 4 and 5 year olds.

Have a great Thursday!

Sunday Lazy Sunday

Oh My Gosh, it feels like such a lazy day.
We went to church this morning. That was nice after not being able to drive ourselves there is what seemed like forever. We had 10 baptisms this morning! We got home shortly after noon. I fixed ham and egg salad sandwiches with applesauce for lunch. I have chicken going in the crockpost. Half the chicken will go in to the freezer for another meal, the other half I am making chicken alfredo with for supper.
After lunch I laid down...for way too long....I just got up and am getting on the computer for the first time today at 3 pm. I will do what I can on here today, but I also need to get a headstart on the housework so that doesn't become an all day job tomorrow.
My aunt and uncle will be here sometime Tuesday from Michigan.

I did work on the plarn gift bag yesterday. I also put in 5 photos and 1 video and 3 posts on gather, including my weekly mail call post. I hope you will take a look, I had some fantasic mail this past week! Mail Call! Week of February 15

I didn't get anything done on squidoo, in fact, I never even opened it yesterday. I ended up being gone all evening after supper with my mom. We went shopping and visited my son. Once home I was so tired I just wanted to get in to bed.

I am off to start my alternating between computer and housework. Have a great rest of what is left of the weekend.

Saturday February 21

Good Morning! I don't know about the weather. It's a cold, crisp, windy day out there now under a blue sky. It was a nice spring like day yesterday, but last night the winds were so high they were howling through the house.

All my plans today have to do with the computer...updating at squidoo, doing what I can on gather. While one here I will be crocheting on one of the other plarn patterns I want to try. I cut the plastic bags for it yesterday.

I got 2 magnetic bracelets made and listed on blujay yesterday. Therefore I decided to update my blujay squidoo lens. Marsha's Blujay

I'm excited to be able to drive to church tomorrow morning! As of now, the van is still running, and I am still praying it continues to run until April when my son is out and can assess it...as well as while I try to save the money up needed towards getting it fixed!

Today will be short and sweet so that I can move on to my other projects.
Have a great Saturday!

Saturday January 3

I'm going to have to say good afternoon today as it's almost right up noon as I start to type for the day.
The weather is still on the warmer side, but it's misting outside. They are calling for snow by Tuesday.

I've been busy today on here. I finished reading the book With Violets last night. It's a book I received from the fiction readers group on gather to read and review.
I posted my review on gather this morning... With Violets By Elizabeth Robards Book Review
and I also built a squidoo lens on it that I hope you will check out as there is much more there. This marks my 40th lens built! With Violets Book Review

I am busy with too many projects as usual. I'm still working on clearing out my gmail. I am crocheting a plarn shopping bag that a lady wants. They are fun. I'm still trying to do all my other things online as well as attempting to keep the house is a decent order. In keeping with my goal I am trying to list one item a day new on blujay. I have a whole crate of books to prepare for listing.

Have a great Saturday,
Marsha
