WIP Wednesday -- Another New Project

When our quilt newsletter came out, there was an article about something else that the agency First Call For Help would like made to give out.  That something are plarn bed rolls for the homeless.
I've been wanting to crochet with plarn again for a very long time.  This is a good time to start.  Great way to get rid of the over abundance of plastic grocery sacks that are piling up at our house too.

I wonder just how many bags it will take to make a 6 foot long bedroll....
I am adding these on to my 6 list for the year.  I'm putting bedrolls as I do intend to make more than one.  I'm not sure if they will go to charity past this first one though.  My middle daughter and her family primitive camp and they could use these mats too!

I did more work on my Penny rug this week.  I got a few circles sewn on and started to trim around those.   I highly doubt I find time this week to get it out again.  I want to though!

I put together 3 sets of double folded hotpads to sew up.

Lastly this week, I did more cutting.  Everything I cut is not in this picture, but you get the idea.  The biggest, and hardest part for me, is actually putting what I cut in with the project I've cut it for!  I've spent some time this week attempting to find my other bags of cuts and put them where they belong, but I have a long way to go on that!!

I made myself a promise to work on something each and every day no matter how little time I find for it.  If I can keep it up like I have this past week, then things will start getting done-----that is if I can stop myself from starting new projects so often.  😳😀😣

I should close now and get busy!

WIP Wednesday -- Some Progress

I got out my Arkansas Crossroads quilt top to work on after it's been in it's project box in the trunk of my car since at least last October.   For some reason I thought I had made all the strips to make the blocks.  I was far from wrong.  I only had enough strips for 4 blocks!    I made those 4 blocks then worked on my strips for blocks.

I took this picture with the row of 4 blocks as well as the 5 rows that are done as a reminder to my readers of what I am working on.

I put the penny rug on the floor and pinned all the circles on.  I'm anxious to work on this rug more but I found it much easier to have the table out to work on it.  That's hard for me to do when the babies are here.  I'm wondering if this would be something I could enter into the fair, making myself a goal to finish it in time for it.

Also this week I spent a whole afternoon bringing things out of my craft/sewing room to look through and see what I could find to take to the members sale at our guild meeting later this month.   I have a box full and out in my trunk ready to go.  I know there are more things in my room if I find time to do some real sorting in there (not to mention the things I need that I need to find!).  I am in hopes of selling at least a bit of it.

WIP Wednesday -- Penny Rug

Well, babysitting grandchildren, 2 of which are babies, is really lessening my sewing time  😞  I love them, but I must figure out how to get in sewing time!

I only sewed a few minutes one day, finishing up a set of the microwave hotpad/cozies.  I posted a set on Letgo to see how that goes.

I also got motivated for just one day to work more on clearing out and organizing in my craft/sewing room.  Once again someone ordered something from my Etsy shop and I found the item to be in the very bottom tote.  My goal is to clear a path, then clear off the bigger shelf, then put my items for sale on the shelf.  That way when something sells, I can go right to it instead of digging into totes.
In the process I will also see what I have completed that is not listed for sale as well.

I have pulled out the Penny Rug that I started some time back.  I took a picture of my original progress to remind you.  I included the circles that I have completed and ready to sew on as well.
Now I'm itching to start sewing the completed circles onto the wool blanket.   Cross your fingers for me that I get to at least work on this rug a little each day!

That's it for my report this week.  With any luck at all, I will get things figured out and have a lot more to report next Wednesday.  It's sit n' sew at the quilt shop this Friday.  Barring nothing goes wrong, I fully intend to finally get back to working on the Arkansas Crossroads quilt top.

WIP Wednesday-- Circles and Yo-Yo's

Sewing time has been much shorter than I like as usual.  I'm still trying to figure out how to remedy that.
I've been looking forward to the quilt shops quilt retreat this weekend, but as of right now I don't have the money to pay to go.  I'm still in hopes of getting the money by tomorrow, but it's not looking promising.  I keep trying to figure out how to have pretty much the same sewing time at home as I would at the retreat.  It's pretty impossible and why I feel the need to the retreats and the hours of time that is dedicated just to sewing!

I put more rows on the Christmas yo-yo table runner until once again I ran out of yo-yo's.  I'm still making more with the hope that this time I finally will have enough to finish the table runner and then move on to making the 2nd valance.  Wish me luck!

By my figures I still have 73 more yo-yo's to put on to finish the table runner.

I've had a few down times while waiting to get more circles put together for my penny rug.  I'm hoping the next picture I get to share with you is some of the circles actually sewn on to the blanket for the rug.

WIP Wednesday --Circles

You may have noticed that I didn't do a WIP Wednesday post this last week.  That was because I did NO sewing.  I really do not like it when I just find no time to sew!

This past week hasn't been much better but at least I did get a little bit done.
I found a couple of times to get out my "penny" circles and work on more of them.  I'm itching to get the wool blanket out and start getting them sewn on, but I MUST work diligently on the yo-yo projects.

I also managed a day to finish cutting my last 4 10 inch squares for the microwave hotpads and have the next step done on those sets.

So many projects and so little time.  I wish I could figure out a way to change that.

WIP Wednesday -- The Problem Is.....

The problem, for me, is that there are so many projects that I want to work on, and equally so many projects that I need to work on.  Ok, probably not equal as the ones I need to work on is the order for the yo-yo valances and the selvage toothbrush rug as they have deadlines.

I did pull out the selvage toothbrush rug this past week and work on it some more.

At sit n' sew at the quilt shop, I got to work on pressing and squaring up the rest of the half square triangles that I need to finish my blocks for the Arkansas Crossroads quilt top.    I got bored after a couple of hours of working on that though and switched and got more yo-yo's sewn on to the first of 2 of the yo-yo valances that I am making.

The penny rug that I started some months back is on my want to do list.  One evening I just got the circles out and started putting some together.  So much fun!!  But, alas, I knew I had to put them away to work on other things.  Aren't they pretty though?

Why can't I just have the time I want for my sewing??

I didn't get around to digging out my blue scraps for soscrappy, but sure intend to get that done before we leave for a few days of vacation on Friday!

WIP Wednesday -- 50 Shades of Green

Ha ha!  I never get done in a week what I would like to, that is for sure.

I did manage to at least get through my scrap bag and pull out green for this month's scrap color with the soscrappy blog.  Literally though, I do think I have at least 50 different green fabrics if not more.

I did my frog stitching and started hand quilting around the edges of the Charming Stars quilt.  I really had hoped to have this done by the 22nd for show and share at quilt guild, but it's not looking very likely.

I cut more felt circles for my penny rug.  I even managed to find the lost bag of circles.  Not quite all of my circles in the picture, and I also have lots of them pinned to the blanket as well.  So anxious to get so many projects done.
