Frugal Friday with Marsha --More on Menu Planning
Last week I wrote about my daughter making up a menu plan, then shopping for all of the foods on the plan.
This week I went down and made a list of all the foods in the deep freeze and I meal planned from there.
Interestingly enough, this morning when I opened my kindle app to do some reading in one of the books I've shared with you before, I seen a title on the bottom row that interested me enough to click on it. The ebook costs $2.99, but I downloaded the sample to read.
It's called Six Dollar Family and it's by Stacy Barr and is how she went from being a homeless mom with $6 in her pocket to where she is now.
I want the whole book, but being my thrifty self, I don't like to spend more than 99 cents for an ebook. I will highlight it at the bottom of this post for anyone interested.
In just the sample that I downloaded, she talks about the difference between a thrifty person and a frugal person, yes, including meal planning. I want to share those 2 excerpts with you today:
"The thrifty person may know what tomorrow's dinner is, but they don't plan their meals or their grocery shopping. Instead, they often wing it with boxed or packaged meals they picked up on sale, wander through the store buying "what looks good" and often give in to wasteful impulse buys."
"A frugal person menu plans regularly using what they already have in their home first and grocery shopping second. They often cook meals from scratch and know the "true" cost of boxed meals doesn't always mean just a monetary value."
I fall in the frugal category here, and is exactly what I've done this week----and hope to continue to do. Once the stock of what we have on hand goes down, we can go from there, shopping the sales only on meats and other foods. I just need to stick with it and give the grocery lists to my daughter.
Stacy Barr has a blog as well that I have checked out this morning. I see so many posts I can't wait to read and I'm sure you will too. Check it out!! Six Dollar Family From there you can also follow her on on the social media as well.
Here is the link to her book on amazon. I encourage you, if nothing else to do as I did, and download the sample. I'm getting a lot out of what I am reading. So much, in fact, that I'm sure I will go ahead and buy the entire ebook. On the amazon page where it says customers who bought this also bought these, I see 3 more ebooks right there that I want!

Super Sunday Reviews-- The Minimum Wage Millionaire
The Minimum Wage Millionaire is written by Bill Edgar. The full title is:
The Minimum Wage Millionaire: How a Part Time After School Job Can Change Your Financial Life
Upon first seeing the title, I wondered just how could someone earn minimum wage, but still become a millionaire. It take much reading of the book to see just how it would work.
The book is geared towards teenagers who are just getting in to the job market (and their parents). Start from that young age, especially while still living at home, and I could very well see how the techniques that Bill Edgar teaches in the book, would indeed make you a millionaire.
I wouldn't say this book is ONLY for people just starting out though. I could see anyone who wants to start using his suggestions, gaining immensely from them. You may not come out a millionaire starting later in life, but you would be so much better well off.
I have already written a bubblew post with my full review. I would like to ask that you click over and check it out so that I am not repeating myself here on my blog, if you would. It will open in a new window so that you won't lose this page.
Book 12--52 Book in 52 Weeks Challenge--The Minimum Wage Millionaire
Disclaimer: I rec'd a copy of this book in ebook form for the purpose of this review. I was not compensated in any other way and any opinions are my own.

Guest Post by Author Angela Yuriko Smith--End of Mae Blog Tour Including Giveaway!
Welcome to Mae Awareness Month. Please click the banner to see the activities for the whole month of May!
Today's post is a guest post by author of the End of Mae, Angela Yuriko Smith. Be sure to check out the giveaway at the end!
"Why Mae?
The years before I wrote End of Mae
I spent writing non fiction for news publications. I didn't have much
interest in fiction, not because I disliked it, but because it simply
didn't interest me. I was fictionally agnostic.
That changed for me one day at a writer's conference in Albuquerque, NM. I was asked out of the blue
did I "do fiction or non". I replied that I suppose I did non fiction. The questioner, a skinny man with an Abe Lincolnesque beard and thick, glued together glasses replied with a snort, "Probably because you have no imagination."
Yes,
my dander was raised and I'm ashamed to say that I got involved in a
loud discussion that had to be shushed by the administration. Pulse
racing, I vowed to show that opinionated man that writers were writers
and no genre was better than another. I started End of Mae that night.
In my mind I have won that long ago discussion and proved that non fiction writers do have imagination. End of Mae has been well received
and gotten nearly all 4 star reviews or higher. In a way tho, he has
also won. In my quest to "do
fiction" I've fallen in love with it and have been converted. If I
were asked today if I "do fiction or non" I would have to answer "Both"
with a lecture on genre equality."
For a limited time, by the graciousness of Angela, download your free e-book of End of Mae!
