Shop Hop Saturday--New Quilt!

Shop Hop Saturday with abitosunshineI'm not sure if those who don't quilt know just how much work and time goes in to making a quilt.  Even the simple straight line quilts like I make.
There is first cutting the material--then piecing the material--then getting your middle and backing ready----then pinning it all together---then tying, or quilting it---then getting the binding done, no matter how you choose to do that.
I would love to figure out how to have more sewing time----that would mean giving up a lot of internet time.

I have finished this quilt below.

I have a little start on my next quilt.  I have a start on 2 table runners but a start is just where I am stopped.  I have no idea how to tie or quilt them.
I also finished another set of the double thick crocheted hotpads with matching coasters:

I have gotten a little more caught up on my reviews and blog posts.    However, I keep accepting more items for reviews and giveaways.

I think that's it for my report this week.  Thanks to Ruth for hosting----at least it keeps me hopping to keep posting about how things are going with my shops online.

WIP Wednesday--New Blog Page Announcement and Lots of Projects!

Before I start sharing the many projects that I have going, I want to introduce my new blog page.  It's entitled Hand Made in 2012 (linky).   Since I have vowed that the majority of my gifts this year will be hand made, either by me, or bought from someone else, I want LOTS of ideas and instructions.
This page is for any link, not just blog posts.  If you have instructions on how to make things, even food that makes good gift, link it up!  If you have a shop online such as etsy where you sell your handmade items link it up! If you do squidoo lenses on handmade gifts, either that you've made, or instructions, link them up!  If you write anywhere online pertaining to home made items such as hubpages, link them up!
I'm in hopes of there being hundreds of link ups before this year is over.  The page has a great start already.

Now on to my projects.  I told my husband at the start of the year that I really need to do one project at  a time.  I"m just not that kind of gal--seems I get bored with just one thing at a time.  As far as sewing I don't sit behind the sewing machine all day---even though there are days that I would love to.
Without further ado, here are my current projects!
First, here is the flower fabric quilt I am still working on.  I do finally have the top sewn, now to get the back and middle and the rest done.
I have a good start one a toothbrush rug in what I am calling neutral colors.
This is the top I am working on for sewing club at church.  I have worked more on it today in hopes of getting it done by Friday.  I want to move on to my next top project at home.
Still working on using up yarn stash making double thick hot pads--and using up plastic canvas stash to make matching coasters for the sets.  This week is purple.
The take-along bag.  This bag is usually in my tote.  This way I can work on coasters, cross magnets, and baby blocks while I am out and about if I want.  This bag has sorely been ignored though.  It now also holds some of the yarn that I am using for the Granny Square a Day in 2012 challenge.
Here is my progress on the Granny Square a Day challenge as of January 10.    I am sewing them together as I get them done.  I'm also debating on going ahead on my trimming as well.  What I am thinking for the trim is all the small balls of variegated yarn I have in my stash.  Do you think that would look ok?  There are going to be lots of colors in the squares so thought the variegated yarn might be cool too.  Click below on the button if you want to know more about the challenge.

Last but not least is the quilt top that I am working on at sewing club at church.  If you recall from past posts, I originally sewed the squares at home.  This project has been going on for awhile.....I doubt I finish it next month.  The one lady is trying to up my skills by teaching me to make this scrappy quilt.  I spent a lot of sewing club time yesterday getting squares cut.  I plan on having a report of progress on it with next weeks post.

WIP Wednesday--Finally A Couple Days of Sewing

Whew!  The holidays are over and the craziness of trying to get gifts done and such.  I feel like it had been forever since I got to sit down in front of my sewing machine.
I finally got in a couple days of making it in for some sewing.

I was able to get 2 rows and part of a row done on my flower print quilt.  I had hoped I could have it done by Friday for the TGIFF post, but there is just no way.
This is how far I am so far on the quilt top for sewing club at church:
I am working through my yarn and plastic canvas stash by making double thick crocheted hotpads and matching coasters.  This will be a work as I can project......I really am ready to delve into making rugs while I sit and do things on the computer instead.  I'm sure I will bounce back and forth as usual.
Pretty short report for this week but I am about to run out the door and run a couple of errands.  As soon as I get home I really want to get in to my sewing machine!

WIP Wednesday 6/22/11

I've done well working on projects this week.

I put in some work on the quilt I am working on for sewing club at church.  Once I get all the zig zag stitching done I will have to wait for instructions on how to do about doing the edging.

I started making baby bibs with my flannel type material.  I'm also still working on fabric bags.

I put aside working on my toothbrush rug to keep working on the double thick crocheted hot pads.  I am in hopes of having all of these completed before next Wednesday.  I then want to concentrate on my rug until it's done before starting another project.

WIP Wednesday 6/15/11

I so always have too many projects going at the same time!  I know I'm not alone as I check out many of the other WIP blog posts with others who work exactly like me!

This is an extra busy week.  I'm keeping 4 of my grandkids all week and we have Bible school in the evenings.  I'm one of the group teachers.  Next week my teen will be at Bible camp and my grandkids will be at their dad's for the week.  I'm in hopes of a quiet week to work and work on crafts, my online projects, and to get the house back in order.

I've worked some on the double thick crocheted hot pads this past week, but not a whole lot.  This is still the yarn left I have to work with.  In the background is also a stack of books I am reading, or need to read for review.

I did some work on the toothbrush rug I am making for our basement floor.  Not as much work as I wanted and it's looking like it's going to take me a couple more weeks to finish up the materials I have out for it.  I then will have to decide if it's big enough to do or if I still want to add more to it.  I had really been in hopes of making it large enough the grandkids could actually sit on it to play.  If I do that, we are talking months then before it's done!

Yesterday was sewing club at church.  Instead of 10-3, we shortened it to 10-1 since 2 of us are helping at Bible school.  One of the gals taught me something new to do with the strip squares.  You can't see it too well in the photo, but I will have another photo to show of my progress next week.  On the other side of the table are the fabric bags I am working on for an order.  Since taking the photo last night I have finished putting those together.  All I have to do now is cut off the strings and package them up for the mail.   I also got started on some of the other bags from the pile of material I showed last week.

WIP Wednesday 6/8/11

Well...one WIP is complete!  That would be that my daughter had her baby this past Sunday  :)
You know I have to show her off some.  Here she is in her going home outfit yesterday at 2 days old.  Zelda Drucilla was born at 2:44 pm on June 5.  Weighing in at 7 lb 8 oz and measuring 20 inches.
Now on to the projects I hope to work on this week.
First off, I am still working on using up the varigated yarn and making it into the double thick crocheted hotpads.  A few will still be made to donate to church, the rest will be listed in my etsy store in sets of 2.  I did get 2 sets listed this past week.  In the background is also 3 books I will get reviewed on my blog this week as well as hand sanitizer to review and have a giveaway with.
I have an order for 3 fabric bags, one of which will be made with the brown corduroy.  I'm heading to Wal Mart in a few for the rest of the  materials.  The other material in the photo I've already bought to make into bags to sell.
I want to turn these fat quarters into hot pads.

And the toothbrush rug that I am making for our basement floor.  It's not been worked on for 2 weeks with other projects but I have it uncovered to work on this week!

Shop Hop Saturday 6/4/11

Wow!  This week has flown by!  It's Saturday already and 4 days in to a new month.
This past week I didn't get anything else created for my Zazzle shop.

I did get 2 sets of the double thick crocheted hot pads added to my etsy store:
Double Thick Crocheted Hot Pads Set of 2 in Pinks

I don't think that I've ever mentioned my blujay store in these posts yet.  I used to have my crafts in my blujay store before moving them to etsy.  You will find books and lots of other different things in my blujay store.   Click here to take a look around.

Today I would also like to tell you about a traffic exchange.  It's called reallysmartdeals and it's made specifically to rotate your items that you have for sale. If you sell on ebay, etsy, cafepress, your own website etc, this is a great place to get your items seen.  I'm sorry that I don't know how many URL's you can rotate as a free member, I believe it's 25.  I'm a paid member at just $1.99 a month and I can have up to 125 URL's in rotation!!  There are higher memberships as well with many more.  Remember, you can join free.  As a paid member I get a set amount of hits automatically each month to my account, as well as text credits and banner credits.
You are provided with a rotator URL.  This url will rotate everything that you have listed.  This is great to use in other traffic exchanges.    I've been a member for a long time and really enjoy it.
You can not have frame breakers in the URL rotation, but you can in the text and banner sections (think squidoo here! you will have to make your own banners for this)  I do believe you can also promote in banners and texts urls that aren't related to items you have for sale as well.
I hope you will check it out and give it a try at least as a free member:

With that I'm going to end this week on that note.  We have a baby coming in to this world tomorrow.  My daughter is on her way now to stay here overnight and head to the hospital early in the morning.

WIP Wednesday 6/1/11

You know how it goes....at least for most of us.....in reality there are always tons of works in progress.  Many of you take the time to give an update each week on everything, and that is cool.

This past week I've been working on nothing but trying to finish as many of the crocheted double thick hot pads that I could.  I'm making some of these to sell in my own etsy shop, but I've been concentrating more on making some to donate to the church's craft table at our fundraising sale this coming Saturday.
I started on these awhile back and got sidetracked with other projects that were a must to be completed (and some that weren't a must).  My goal was to have a dozen to donate.

I have worked a bit more after taking this photo last night, but at this points I am only going to have 7 to donate.  I'm a little disappointed in myself for not making my goal.   However, I will keep making them until I have made all I can with the yarn you see in the picture.

I post weekly to the following WIP Wednesday linkys:

Shop Hop Saturday 5/28/11

I've stayed pretty busy this week on crafts, so I'm happy with that.
I finished up the order for dish scrubbies and washcloths and finished the Minnie baby hat on another order.

I was able to finish the strip quilt and got it listed in my etsy store. I had spaced off paying my fees this month...oops! They are paid now. It had been awhile since I had even been in my store and had to get 8 items relisted that had expired too. Also, since the last time I listed something they changed the way you list. It's much easier now. You can find my new strip quilt here.

I also got a few more things made up in my zazzle store. A postcard, some stickers and 2 more postage stamps. You can see my store here. I also got another sale in zazzle this past week too!

I'm currently back to working on crocheting the double thick hot pads. I'm on a mission to see how many I can get made before next Saturday when we are having the fundraising sale at church. Half of what I make I am donating to the sale, the other half will be listed in my etsy shop. I still have loads of the varigated yarn to make in to the hotpads. This will keep my busy, but I also hope to get started on another quilt, some baby bibs, more fabric bags and some quilted hot pads as well.

I think that is all my news for this week. Thanks so much to Ruthi for hosting this Shop Hop. Please click the button and hop along or check out and support other.

WIP Wednesday 4/27/11

Good Wednesday to all!  I have so many projects going on it's not even funny.

I got 2 more of the fabric bags completed and listed in my etsy store.  I have 2 more since made to be listed before the end of the week.  Only 1 more to finish of the bags...at least that I have the fabric for anyway.  I don't have a photo of those.

I am still working on the double thick hot pads.  Half I will have for sale, the other half being donated for the craft table at the next church fundraising sale.  I'm just working here and there on these.
I am working on a toothbrush rug for our basement rec room floor.  This already is about as large as I've ever made one of these rugs.  I have a long ways to go to make it as large as I want it for the floor down there.  A challenge was put through the Rocket Mom's group on squidoo to build a lens about a craft project we are doing for ourselves.  I hope you will check out my My Toothbrush Rugs lens.  I will be updating it as my rug gets larger until it's done and on the floor down there!
I got busy and got the strips, cut, sewn, and ironed to make the binding for the strip quilt that I started before we moved.  It's about time I get it completed.  I hope to have the completed photo for you next week, and to have it listed in my etsy store!

I have finished sewing the strips on the squares that I am making for sewing club at church.  I have 6 of the squares completely done.  I have 10 more to cut down.  I will have them sewn 4 into a square, ready to then cut the material for the edging by next week as well.  I will cut the materials for in between and the edging, and get it sewn on at our next sewing club meeting May 10.
I must get started on projects for the new baby coming!!  I have to look up crochet patterns as well as a pattern for a sling.  I have a baby set in my 101 One Yard Wonders book that I also want to make.  I am hoping to have most all of it completed by May 11 when we are having the baby shower.  Think I can do it??  You can see the ticker at the bottom of my blog on Heathers progression in pregnancy.

I think that's it for this week...and yes, it's a lot!  Everyday Crochet is busy doing other things, but I am including her button here.  I have chosen 2 other WIP Wednesday's to participate in this week, and possible future weeks.  I hope you will click all 3 buttons and check them all out!
