WIP Wednesday --My Machine Was Out!

I actually had my machine out---twice this past week!

The first time was at the quilt shop for sit n' sew.  There I got the 5th of 10 rows added to my Arkansas Crossroads quilt.  Then I sat and figured out just how many more half square triangles that I need to complete the rest of the blocks.  I am a little sad that I still need to make 70 more.....I should grab those and start working on them once I get this post done.

The second time was here at home.
I worked on the space themed coasters and got another step closer to finishing the green string blocks.

My friend found a couple smaller pieces of black and white fabric in her stash and gave them to me.  I'm heading Friday to the Kansas City Regional Quilt Show so I knew I had to get the black and white with a little red quilt top out and see if what she gave me would be enough to finish the blocks.  I wanted to know as to know if I needed to be on the look out for more while at the show.
Yes!  I was able to finish the remaining 14 blocks.   Hoping to work more on this quilt over the next week.

And, last, but not least, I got more work done on the yo-yo projects.  I put a few more yo-yo's on to the first valance, but the lighting was so bad that I was having a terrible time working with the invisible thread.   I decided to get more yo-yo's made instead.  I still have quite the pile of fabric in my box to make in to yo-yo's.

If I can continue to have this much to show each week, I will feel like I am actually accomplishing something!  Wish me luck!

WIP Wednesday-- Quilt Retreat Report

As usual, I had a wonderful time at the quilt retreat and I feel like I got a lot done with all those hours of dedicated sewing time.

The first thing I made sure to get done was my President's block for the outgoing President of our guild.

I then got out the red string blocks and got those finished.  I plan to start putting the quilt together after getting one more color of string blocks made.

I then did some fixing and adding to my guild challenge.  I'm very pleased now with how it is----and it's ONE out of 17 of the 17 UFO's in 2017 that I can actually say is done now.

Then it was time to bite the bullet and finally get this Charming Stars top worked on.  I am pretty proud of myself for sandwiching it and then actually taking the hours it took to machine quilt around each star.  Hopefully I really will finish it in the next couple of weeks.

Last, but not least, I was able to get 2 more rows on to my black and white with a little red quilt.  Again, I didn't have enough black and white to make all of the blocks.  I'm anxious to finish this and really hope that it won't take me until the next retreat to work on it!

Haven't stitched a thing since Saturday night, but cross your fingers for me that I get the yo-yo's out when I am babysitting this week and get some work done on those!

WIP Wednesday -- Too Many Projects to Work On!

Oh my...I feel so overwhelmed by how many projects that I really need to finish.  I have yet to finish even one of my 17 UFO's in 2017 challenge!

I did work on the penny rug, but ended up putting it away before taking a picture.  What I found is that I need far more felt circles than what I had cut out.  I need to get to finding my felt in my mess of a craft/sewing room.  Hopefully by next week I will at least have a few of the circles that I do have pinned on sewn down.  I make myself no promises though.

I did get one step further on the red string blocks, red being March's color with the soscrappy blog challenge.  I've not even looked yet to see what the color is for April.

I have my guild challenge sandwiched and pinned, but am at a loss on how I am going to quilt it.  This has to be done by the 24th so I need to get that figured out, and quickly too!

Of course I'm still going with my yo'yo's.  I'm looking forward to the upcoming quilt retreat this month where I plan to start sewing them together.

I'm heading out now to the post office to see how much it will cost to ship a quilt to Ireland.  If it's not too much over what I have for the shipping in my etsy shop for it then it's sold.  Wish me luck!

WIP Wednesday-- Still Plugging Away

I'm still plugging away on getting things worked on.

I am pleased with how the locker hook rug is coming along:

I got out the doll rugs to work on.  These go with the bedding sets that I am working on.   I am happy to be working on them again and hope to have some bedding sets made and up for sale in my etsy shop in the next few weeks.
While I was working though, the idea hit me to make a larger rug with the actual selvage strips.  There is a category at the state fair for creative uses of selvage.  I am thinking of making a full size rug to enter in next years fair.  I have divided up the selvage strips from the regular thin strips.

I started putting the Christmas yo-yo's together for the table topper.  That is moving along nicely working on them while I am out and about waiting on others.

Last, but certainly not least, I put together 5 string quilt blocks using the rose with a touch of gold colors from the soscrappy blog scrap color challenge for September.  I love the way they came out.  I look forward to seeing what October's color will be.

WIP Wednesday 9/21/16

I've mostly been working on and off when I had time on the Christmas yo-yo's.  Here is a picture of them laid out, but not in the pattern that I will put them together.

I managed a day to work on the string quilt blocks in the rose with a touch of gold colors for the soscrappy blog challenge.  Did get 5 made, but didn't get time yet to trim them.

Doesn't look like much, but at least it's something!  This next week shouldn't be near as busy as this past week for sure, so I am hoping for more to show you next week.
