Squidoo Hopping 8/14/14

Another week has gone by and more squidooing to be done.
Payday added to my reserve hopper about the same as the month before.
I know it will be at least September before I will see a difference from my updating each day. October will show my efforts even stronger. I'm anxious.
What I'm lacking is sharing my lenses through the many social networking sites. I've been trying to do better with that this month.

I've been struggling to figure out how to update what they call the lenslets. With only so many modules available to put in it's not easy for me.
My thoughts are changing out an amazon product.....adding info into the intro on the charity that a portion of the earnings are donated to.....adding photos where appropriate to a gallery.
If you have any other suggestions please let me know.
I've not messed with them enough yet to know if we can put things in the side since the lenslets now appear to look just like the other lenses when opened.

I'm going to continue to add 2 of my lenses to the weekly linky that are just below the 85,000 rank. It's exciting as each week I have to scroll further down my lens list to get to those!

Squidoo Hopping 7/24/14

I hope this week I find you all doing well in squidoo land.
I wonder what day the CSS will disappear?  I know I went a little crazy when I learned about it and did several of my lenses up with colored backgrounds and such.

In fact, just the other day I was in on of my book review lenses and the review itself just wasn't standing out.  I put a border around it.  Nothing over the top, just so that someone would actually spot the review.  Now that is going to be gone!  Back to square one of trying to figure out how to make it stand out.
Is there html that will do the same thing?  It all looked like html to me!   I didn't know what CSS even was until I looked at the examples.

hhmm   maybe text modules above and below the review with the squiggly line html......if those codes are html.

Anyway....I have kept all of my lenses out of WIP since last Friday so that's good.  I continue to update a minimum of 3 lenses each day and make notes on different ways that I can update each one.
I still have lots of my 146 lenses that I've not gotten to at all.

Question:  What are you best suggestions for updating the lenslets?  We are limited to modules.
Last night I updated one, but what I did was change out an amazon item for something else.

I can't wait to see what blog posts and lenses you share with us this week.
I'm going to continue sharing 2 of my lenses that are hovering the 87,000 ranking  (is it 87,000 or 85,000 the lowest it can be for ad revenue?)

Squidoo Hopping 7/10/14

Sticky notes are still my friends while working each day to update at least a few lenses.
I've changed it up though. I was just making one note on a sticky note. Now I've been looking through the whole lens and making notes on what needs to be changed or what can be added. Some lenses are taking 2 sticky notes!

I'm currently sitting at 19 WIP's. Not bad at all since I did have 55. Once I get through my WIP's I will start going through all of my lenses making sure to keep up with updating every day....at least that is my ultimate goal here.

How are your lenses doing?

Squidoo Hopping 6/19/14

I'm sure by now that all of my squidoo readers know about the new payout threshold.

I can be ok with the minimum being set to $25 for everyone starting with the July 2014 payouts.
I do assume that when they say July 2014 payouts that they mean starting in September 2014 to start the $25 minimum since our pay is for 2 month prior.
Please correct me if I am wrong there.

I have high hopes that the new threshold will give me the motivation to step up my game again in squidoo.  Not just by updating and building more, but also by promoting the lenses as well.

I had already planned on updating one lens yesterday before reading HQ.  After reading HQ I was motivated to update another lens while I was at it.

Also, I had only been taking notes on updates and such for the past couple of months.   I found those notes and got them all written where they belonged in my notebook.
Most probably keep track of their lenses in some sort of a spread sheet.  I keep mine in a 3 ring binder.
Each lens has it's own piece of paper, and of course they are in alphabetical order.
I have noted when I created the lens and what charity is getting 10% of the earnings.
I then make note of any updates I do to the lens and the date.
I have a 2 page list of possible updates to give me ideas on what to do.
You know, some lenses don't really warrant an update except checking to make sure the amazon products are still available or something along those lines.

Squidoo Hopping 6/12/14

Good Thursday morning to everyone!

I hope it's been a good squidoo week.
I have had a few sales, so that excites me.
Payday might just be tomorrow too....again, that excites me.

I managed to do a little updating to lenses this past week. What I need to learn to do more is promoting. It doesn't matter how busy I am, I must take time to promote!
It's been a hit and run week.

Squidoo Hopping 6/5/14

It's one of my grandchildren's birthdays today.  If you've been following me for awhile you know that I started doing This Day In History lenses.
I was fully intending on making a lens for every day of the year, but I was starting by doing dates of the birthdays in my family.

Some day I really would like to even finish getting birthdays in!  It wouldn't hurt to attempt to go ahead and try to start then filling in other dates.

I went in today to June 5 and added birthday pictures of Zelda to the bottom on my lens.  I will add a picture from her 3rd birthday later today after her party.
Then I hope to go add pictures to all of the grandkids' birth dates.

This is just one of MANY ways that I can be updating lenses.

Wild days all the way around at my house.

Squidoo Hopping 5/22/14

Let's get this party started!
School is out for summer here.  For me this means more time at home since I won't have the worry of picking up the grandkids from school for a few months.  Woot!
Hopefully for me this means that I can finally start making my goal of working in squidoo daily.

I received 2 books in for review this week.  Both will make great review lenses.  I still have the one book that been on hold to get done first. 
There's always updating that I can do to my lenses.
I've not updated my latest 10 lens and I've built like 15 lenses since my last update on that one!
Maybe I can make my goal to change out just one per day until I get caught up.

Speaking of that.....I had been using a website to get coding instead of using the featured lens module.
It seems that we can't use that site now without paying?   That may only be right since that person does put a lot of work in fixing up the coding and such.
Should I just go back to featured lens modules then??   Or, do they even still exist??

Squidoo Hopping 5/15/14

Shouldn't it be squidoo payday today?  Maybe that just comes later in the day.   I don't expect much, but I did have a couple of sales recently.

This past week I read a post on bubblews by another lensmaster.  She wrote that another lensmaster had been prompting her to update her profile.  Mostly to add in a link to her bubblews profile.
This motivated me to get in to squidoo and update my own profile.

I changed it up just a bit and then did add a link to my bubblews profile page. (although I sure with bubblews would be up more than it's down).
While there I also switched up the 5 lenses of mine that you see down the side as well as add my google+ link and changed a couple of those other website links too.

This week, if you don't mind, let's do something different in the linky.  For one of the links that you share, please make it your profile page.  I'm interested in what others have for their profiles.

When I'm returning comments, I also open the person's profile page in another tab before approving the comment.

Squidoo Hopping 5/8/14

Another Thursday is upon us.  The days sure pass by quickly for me anymore!

I did get to updating 2 of my lenses yesterday that needed the amazon links taken care of.  Both are some of my This Day in History series. (Some day I really do want to complete the series with all 366 days of the year!)
One was easy, it only had 22, so choosing 2 amazon to remove wasn't hard at all.
The other one had 32 amazon links, so choosing 12 to remove was a little more tricky.

How is your spring?  We just had a heatwave for 4 days here in Kansas with temps between 97 and 100!  We thought we had gone from winter straight into summer, but it's cooler now.  The next week or so highs are to be in the 70's and 80's.
I do admit to loving the heat, but now looking forward to the break from it for a bit.   100 degrees sure beats being cold for me.

Squidoo Hopping 5/1/14

Here it is May already.  This year sure is flying by.
The past few days we've had some pretty chilly weather and lots of wind.  Many places had tornadoes.

Hopefully you forgot about the squidoo goal I wrote about last week since I didn't even touch it.
No real excuse other than just not doing it.  Sure, I'm busy with half a dozen or so other things in my life and online......
I've been in and out of squidoo a lot looking at lenses of others, just didn't do anything with any of my own.

I still have my lists of all the different ways you can update.  I really do want to get back to doing some of those each day.  I'm sure it still holds true that updating  ups the rank of the lens some for a bit.

This week I won't tell you what I plan to get done.....and then I can surprise you next week.

I am wondering if any of you know?   I have those 4 lenses that have the best of mark beside them on my dashboard, but the top of my dashboard has a 0 for how many best of that I have?

Squidoo Hopping 4/24/14

With Easter and the perparations, I'm sad to say that I only visited squidoo a few times this past week.
I have some catching up to do!

I do have goals that I WILL make this week.
I have 4 lenses left that I need to decide which 20 amazon links are staying. I will get those done.
I also have a craft book review written up in word as well as pictures to go with it.  I will get that new lens up too.

This week in the linky I will share the other 2 lenses of mine that were put into the Best Of category.

Squidoo Hopping 4/17/14

The Best Of lenses....something new and something that sounds pretty good.
I opened my dashboard yesterday and seen the blue icons.  I clicked then read the HQ post on it.

I have to say that I'm pretty well still in shock that they would pick any of my lenses to be best of.
However, the four that are chosen are all with the news lenslet formats.
Now I am wondering if they will all be just made with those?  I don't recall reading that, but have a feeling that's how it is.

I will share 2 of mine in the linky today.  If you have any, please do share those this week......along with any blog posts you may have done about squidoo.

I did update one lens this week.  I'm glad that I did.  It was a prompting by the owner of the the Online Craft Mall to get my act together with my items there.  Sometimes I need that push to get me around to the things that I have been putting off.

Squidoo Hopping 4/10/14

Happy Thursday!
I hope Spring is upon you now and no more snow!
Here in Kansas today it's the usual windy Spring Day out.

I made a sale this past week.  Woo hoo!  I don't get those often in my lenses.
Payday is right around the corner next week too.
I'm enjoying the Giant Squids google+ group tremendously......I just need to get busy updating and building so that I can do more listing.
I'm only 186 pts away from finally reaching level 70....working towards that level 75.

Squidoo Hopping 4/3/14

Good morning! I hope this post finds you with Spring weather.  We actually had thunderstorms last night.  It's still a bit cool out for me.

I updated one of my lenses this last week.....one that I hadn't gotten to yet to pick and choose the amazon products so there would be 20 or less.
While there I noticed that I didn't have links to the photos and such within the modules.  What I found is that I linked the picture itself.
Going to each one I found that they are all either in the public domain or in wikimedia commons.
Is this enough, or should I go back and edit it to include the information and link in the module?

In a rush today as it's mom's payday, but I hope to see many link up.
I've been having a blast this last week visiting all kinds of lenses of interest.

Squidoo Hopping 3/27/14

It's Thursday again already.  I swear I don't know where the days are going.  Here we are already almost to the end of March.

How is the weather in your parts?  It's finally looking a little like Spring here.  I don't believe there is any more snow in the forecast.  It rained all day yesterday.  Today it's sunny and on the windy side.

I didn't get any lenses updated or built this past week, but I have been to a lot of lenses.
Do we still have the limit of liking only 10 a day?  I've not been sure, but have been wondering.

Anything else new with squidoo that I have probably missed?
I also need to get in to HQ and read more often.

One lens that I've not kept up with is the one that I was listing the charities to choose from.
Another one is where I list the last 10 lenses that I've built.  I've built 11 or 12 since updating it!
Oh the work to do in squidoo.

Squidoo Hopping 3/20/14

Welcome to the first day of Spring!   We are going to have a nice Spring day here in Kansas.

Sorry I'm a little late posting this week.  My computer was in the shop on Monday, then had to go back yesterday with the same problem.
I picked it up about 30 minutes ago and they tell me they fixed it for sure.   I surely do hope so!
I've been using my husband's computer off and on in this down time, but not doing a whole lot of anything really.

I did build a new lens this past week, so I will share it in the linky along with another lens that I will choose.

I hope you all keep me busy hopping from lens to lens and also to blogs with link ups this week.  :)

Squidoo Hopping 3/6/14

 

We no longer have internet at home, so I am having to work from the library when I can.
I am going to try to keep up with the things that are most important to me....my blog, bubblews, squidoo. swagbucks, my email, and a couple of paid to clicks that i do.

I'm actually writing this and scheduling it to post as I'm not sure what time I can make it here to the library to post it.

You won't believe it, but I actually updated a lens today.  I had intended to update 2...picking 2 of the 7 that I hadn't gotten to yet on deciding the 20 amazon to keep.
I did the Dora the Explorer lens.
The amazon was the easy part as I was only 2 over the 20.  One of those links wasn't good anymore.
The hard part was....omg....I had copy and pasted major information about the characters of the show from wikipedia.  I cited that's where I got the info from and all...but talk about duplicate content!!
I went through and took out most of it, but also changed wording, paraphrases, changed sentences around etc.   I did keep the link where I found the info.
Whew!  It published at 100% with no problems....hopefully it stays that way.

I also made it to work on to approving and returning some of the comments in my dashboard as well.
I'm going to truly try to work in squidoo daily, even if it's just returning a couple of comments.

This is day 3 of having to work from the public library when I am able.  So far I'm seeing that this may just be good for me.  I've had to be more organized and more thorough in getting done what needs to be done in a day.
Plus, when I am home in the evenings I am working on sewing and reading more.

Squidoo Hopping 2/27/14

It's Thursday again and time to share blog posts relating to squidoo as well as links to 1 or 2 of your lenses.

Again it's been crazy around my house.....or outside of my house.  In and out.  It doesn't stop for me until after I attend this quilt retreat this weekend.    I don't think that things will ever slow down for me though.  I have lots of sewing related things that I do outside of the home and I like it that way.
Then there are church related activities and family.  Go go go.

I could take lots of pictures at the retreat this weekend and build a lens that talks about quilt retreats.  That could be a nice lens.  I should do it.  Will I?

How can I get more participation here each week and get more people to come and link up?  Suggestions would really be appreciated.

Squidoo Hopping 1/23/14

How are things in squidoo for you?

I "know" many of the new contributors through online socializing.  I look forward to what many will share with us on this new adventure.

I had applied for yarn yarn yarn and then one other one, which I forget now what it even was.  I wasn't picked for either.  I also didn't realize from reading the email that there would only be one per title.
Some of the ones I am seeing I don't even remember seeing on the lists!

I'm ok with it, especially when I seen that each contributor had to make a get to know me page.  I will just enjoy what everyone else contributes and keep writing my lenses here and there.......when I get that motivation to do so!

I want to make another crafts as gifts lens.  I never got around to making one for 2013, so think I will title is 2013 and beyond.  I will have more book review lenses as I complete reading books.

I look forward to seeing what is shared this week.  Since I've once again done no updating or building, I am choosing to share 2 lenses that are towards the bottom of my lens list by ranking.

Squidoo Hopping 1/16/14

How was your payday this month?
I believe I was paid the most I have ever made.  Nothing to brag about as it was just $15.07 including what went to charity, but more than I expected.

I'm confused as I should have all of my lenses set to pay out 10% to specific charities.  My payday page states that $4.27 of my payment was from "I want cash" lenses. 
Looks like I need to go through all 140+ of my lenses and find out which one, or ones, aren't giving to a charity.

It could be one or two of my newest lenses.  Or, could it be that maybe one of the many charities I have chosen to give to is no longer on the squidoo list?
I'm making that my mission between now and next Thursday, so I will let you know then.

I didn't build or update any lenses over this past week.
I pretty pick at random what 2 lenses I decide to share in the weekly linky's but  usually pick from lenses towards the bottom of my ranking list.
