Here, Home, Hope by Kaira Rouda--Book Review
Info:
Here, Home, Hope by author Kaira Rouda is the fictional story of one woman's courageous journey through midlife crisis and personal reinvention - all told with a sense of heart and humor.Kelly Mills Johnson becomes restless in her thirty-ninth year. An appetite for more forces her to take stock of her ordinary middle-American existence and her neighbors’ seemingly perfect lives. Her marriage to a successful attorney has settled into a comfortable routine, and being the mother of two adorable sons has been rewarding but exhausting. Meanwhile, Kelly’s own passions lie wasted. She eyes with envy the lives of her two best friends, Kathryn and Charlotte, both beautiful, successful businesswomen who seem to have it all. Kelly takes charge of her life, devising a midlife makeover plan. Here, Home, Hope will surely appeal to readers of chick lit and other women’s fiction titles who are ready to transition into something new in their own life.

My thoughts on Here, Home, Hope:
I have really enjoyed reading this book. You want to keep reading to see what is going to happen in the life of Kelly, her family, and her friends. It's a regular little "Peyton Place" going on in suburbia. Kelly has what seems to be the dream life. She gets to be a stay at home mom while her devoted and loving husband goes to his job as a lawyer each day. They live in a beautiful house in a beautiful neighborhood. They have 2 sons who are growing up.
Kelly has a scare with breast cancer and this makes her realize she wants changes in her life. I love how she uses Post-It notes to remind herself of all the things she wants to change, and how she has these notes stuck all over the house. She even has them in her vehicle--"Doug".
I'm not going to go in to any other details about the book. I will say that as you read, you can imagine yourself as Kelly. The feelings portrayed are real, and heartfelt.
I'm not going to give away the ending---I can't, as I've not finished the book. I rec'd the book in digital form for review and was confused on how to get it. Once I got it, it was hard for me to read the digital version over doing other things on my computer. Oh how I wish I had a reader! Today is the deadline to review the book.
I look forward to finishing the book in the next few days and finding out just how everything that is going on plays out. So many lives are involved in the story, and they all revolve around Kelly. I will update this post once I am done reading the book.

Don't Fret the Sweat!
Do you have tweens or kids who are quickly approaching tween years? If so you know how critical self esteem is at this tender age. Unilever, the makers of Degree, Dove and Suave deodorant offer support for these difficult times.
The tween years are full of changes. Whether or not parents are ready, their kids’ bodies are trying to tell them something. Increased hormones are causing noticeable differences like growth spurts and strange new odors. But don’t let the unexpected stink scare you; it’s just a sign of great things to come.

Also visit the Don't Fret The Sweat website as well!
(My daughter is 14 and still uses and raves about how well Degree Girl works. She doesn't want to use any other type!)
Disclaimer: I am posting this via a campaign through One2One Network and will be put into a drawing for gift cards for posting.

Yanni Truth of Touch Album Review
This is Yanni's first instrumental release of original compositions in over eight years and is a return to the genre Yanni helped create and advance.
“I work the rhythms in this album,” explains Yanni about the new material. “There is a beautiful complexity in these rhythms, a new sound design. I think the melodic content is very strong and very memorable. I was having fun with this album and that’s going to become apparent.”
On March 22, Yanni launched a 40-date tour of the US. The tour will take him through theaters in major cities across the US including Radio City Music Hall in NYC and the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
Click HERE to see the complete list of tour dates and destinations.
Tracks include:
1. Truth of Touch
2. Echo of a Dream
3. Seasons
4. Voyage
5. Flash of Color
6. Vertigo
7. Nine
8. Can't Wait
9. Guilty Pleasure
10. O Luce Che Brilla Nell Obscurita
11. I'm So
12. Long Way Home
13. Yanni & Arturo
14. Mist of a Kiss
15. Secret
This is not my genre of music, but I soon found that I can learn to appreciate it! This album to me is one you will listen to when you just want to sit and relax. I found it to be very calming.
It would also be appropiate to play in the background while have a dinner party.
My favorite songs on the album are Vertigo, Can't Wait, and I'm So. Vertigo and I'm So are more upbeat, and closer to what I enjoy listening to on a regular basis. Can't Wait is a song on the album that does have words. Words of a great love song.
You can visit Yanni's official website HERE.

cinch!--Book Review
Cynthia Sass, the creator and co-author of the New York Times Bestselling Flat Belly Diet presents her new break-through, 30-day weight loss program Cinch! targeted to end overeating, leaving dieters feeling full and satisfied while enjoying the best food combinations to burn fat and boost metabolism.
Cinch! by Cynthia Sass, M.P.H, R.D. and co-author of Flat Belly Diet
Conquer cravings, drop pounds, and lose inches
Stop counting and start living.
I want to say from the get go....if one of your New Year's Resolutions is to lose weight, this is a must have book. You can find it on amazon here Cinch!: Conquer Cravings, Drop Pounds, and Lose Inches
. Just out today, December 28, 2010!!
I jumped on the chance to sign up with one2one network to review this book. I didn't want the book for myself, but instead for my 14 yr old daughter. For some reason she just keeps gaining weight. I can see pretty much that it's because she eats almost constantly and isn't very active just sitting in front of her computer most days....or riding in the car with me.
I wanted to see what Cinch! was all about. What I found out is that it's all about a whole lot!!
My daughter really wants to try the Cinch! plan. The plan starts out with a 5 day fast forward program, in which you can lose up to 7 lbs in those 5 days. It's based around just 5 foods, along with approved beverages and approved seasonings.
If you so choose, you can skip this part and go right in to the Cinch! core plan.
If you choose to do the fast forward, you then would do 25 days of the core plan. If not, then 30 days of the core plan.
I am just so impressed with this book. The nutrional advice, guidance and education alone makes this book priceless to me. I learned so many things I didn't know as I turned each page.
I do not need to lose weight....just the opposite in fact....I need to gain weight. One thing I learned was the importance of maintaining scheduled times to eat to fuel my body.
Let's go back to the 5 day fast forward plan. You are given a shopping list as well as recipes for those 5 days. Now, you use the same recipes each day for the 5 days. You can mix them up for variety over having the same thing each day at each time.
There is a test in the book to help you determine if you should do the fast forward, or just start in with the core program.
I've asked my daughter if she was sure she wants to try this. Her answer time and time again is a resounding YES! We've not started with it yet as we are gathering up the groceries, but we are well on our way.
The next step is the 25 day core program. With it, you use the same 5 foods, plus a lot of others. Cynthia Sass has provided over 100 recipes in the book for cover breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner and beverages. You even get to indulge each day with dark chocolate...yes, every day! Recipes are included for some great dark chocolate treats as well.
As you are doing the core program you will learn what the "puzzle pieces" are so that after the 30 days you can stay on the right track with the program.
Are you worried that you are away from home too much to stick with a time schedule for meals and snacks? Not to worry, she covers this in the book as well. She even gives you ideas of what to order when you go out to eat at a restaurant.
One chapter is dedicated to questions that you might ask...with the answers. As I stated earlier, the information in this book is phenomenal. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a better reign on their health, whether they want to lose weight or not.

Adopted Ed by Darren Maddern-- Book Review
November has been National Adoption Month with November 20th being National Adoption Day in the US.
Adopted Ed by Darren Maddern is a sweet book all about Ed. The pictures are adorable that go along with the story of how Ed finds out that he is adopted.....how he is teased at school.....how he asks his parents about his real parents.
A little about my own family. The only adopted child in my family in my niece. My brother and his wife got her in foster care when she was just 2 weeks old. 2 1/2 years later when her parents and grandparents either ones weren't able to do what was needed to get her back, she was able to be adopted into our family. She is now in 5th grade. I've heard her asking questions about her real family of late. This is why I wanted in on this book review.
I have 4 children myself. I had each one of them read the book. They all thought it was cute....for the record, their ages are currently 27, 24, 19 and 14. I also read it to a couple of my grandchildren, who insisted that I read it again, as well as they spent a good amount of time looking through the book on their own.
There is a page that all of my adult children just loved. It's pictured below. Also from the photo you will be able to tell how adorable the illustrations are.
The following information is taken from the One2One Network website:
ADOPTED ED is a simple, easy-to-read and understand children’s book with important underlying messages of personal empowerment and social pressures and acceptance.
It focuses on the life of Eddie, an adopted little boy, who is just like every other boy and girl. At school, when he is teased by bullies about being adopted, his mom offers words of wisdom, which ultimately gives him self-confidence to deal with the situation.
You can visit the Adopted Ed website here

Laws of Illusion Album by Sarah McLachlan--Review
I have the opportunity to review this album thanks to the One2One Network.
Laws of Illusion is Sarah McLachlan's first studio album of brand new material in 7 years. Her career has spanned more than 2 decades, and she has over 20 million career sales! EVERY one of Sarah's studio and live albums has been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum by the RIAA.
****In stores June 15!!
The album was recorded in Montreal and Vancouver Canada, where she has her roots. Recorded with her longtime collaborator and producer Pierre Marchand. The album is being released just weeks before the kick off of Lilith Fair 2010, which is the historic all women touring festical, founded by McLachlan.
I've listened to Laws of Illusion twice all the way through since receiving it. I really enjoy the laid back sounds of this album. The songs are on the side of love songs.
My favorites songs are Illusions of Bliss and Loving You is Easy.
Loving You is Easy is the albums first single and is a Top Ten hit at Adult Alternative radio.
I really like that the CD comes with a cover insert that has photos as well as the words to all the songs.
Album songs include:
Awakenings
Illusions of Bliss
Loving You is Easy
Changes
Forgiveness
Rivers of Love
Love Come
Out of Tune
Heartbreak
Don't Give Up On Us
U Want Me 2
Bring on the Wonder
I hope you have a chance to sit back and enjoy this album.
