WIP Wednesday 10/12/11

The majority of this past week was spent working on crocheting dish scrubbies for my orders.  I didn't take another photo but I still need to make 3 purple ones for one order and 5 black ones for the other order.

I tried to get out the toothbrush rug but only ended up putting in 5 strips before I got sidetracked on something else that needed to be done.  I didn't take another picture of it either since I got so little done.

Yesterday was sewing club at my church (we meet just once a month from 10-3).  Only 3 of us were able to make it so:
Anita ironed the material

Betty was cutting material in to strips
 And I sewed the squares
We ended up with 13 squares completed, minus cutting them down to the right size.  I brought home strips, so hopefully next week I will have more to show you done.  We need 54 for the quilt top we want to make.

I also made a few crocheted washcloths this last week.  I'm working on an order but needed to make up a few to show the gal colors available.

So...first I'm going to finish up the dish scrubbie orders.  Then I'm going to finish up the washcloth order.  In between I may just do some sewing for church.   I'm in hopes of getting strips cut for my next jelly roll style quilt as well as see what I can do to get started on some Christmas presents.

Here is something else that I keep forgetting to report.  What is it you ask?  Well, we heard that you can take your material scraps, fill a pillowcase and make them in to pet beds to be donated to the animal shelter.  We started filling a pillow case at sewing club a few months ago.  The pillowcase in the picture is the one that I am filling at home.  It's a great way to make sure that nothing goes to waste.  It's filled with the bits and scraps that normally would have been thrown away.

WIP Wednesday 10/5/11

I've stayed busy with my crafts this past week.  I finished up the table runner and the lap quilt.  Both are now listed in my etsy shop.

I finished the top of the jellyroll type quilt for sewing club at church.  I've taken it in.  We will have sewing club next Tuesday.  The other gals finish up the quilts.
I am currently working on an order for 24 dish scrubbies.  They are purple but for some reason they always show up as blue in photos.  Since taking this picture I have cut my black netting for an order for 12 of those.
And, I've started on another toothbrush rug.  Who would have figured that it's been so long since I made one that I forgot how to start the first stitch??  I had to take it to church and have the lady who taught us how to make them tell me what I was doing wrong.  All I was doing wrong was holding it backwards.  I was trying to start it the same direction that I crochet, but the rugs work the opposite direction.  This one is made with flannel strips I had left over from other projects.  What is in the box is all I have, so I'm not sure just how large it will end up.  It may have to be put aside until I get more materials if it comes out too small.
I have some washcloths to work on for an order.  As much as I would love to make, make, and make more items to put up for sale with the Christmas holiday quickly approaching, I also need to start getting my handmade gifts made too.  I need to get cracking!

WIP Wednesday 9/28/11

I admit that I've not found the time to work on much at all this past week.  In fact, I jammed things in this morning just to be able to do this post today!

I've been getting some orders in, which is great.  One order is for 24 purple dishscrubbies.  I've done nothing more than buy some of the netting.  I will be starting on those here in a bit.

Here is a picture of the strips I am sewing together  for another jelly roll type quilt at church.  I hope to have the top done before the next sewing club meeting Oct. 11.

I have the material out to work on finishing up the lap quilt I am making.  I have worked further than the picture by ironing and laying it out.  I found my bottom piece wasn't the right size so I have it cut to sew to make it fit.  I also had to piece together the blue for the middle.  My goal is to complete this quilt by Saturday morning so wish me luck please.

I have the back cut and pinned for the Christmas table runner.  It won't take me long at all to sew around and get it finished to list in my etsy store!

It's so sad how many things I see around in my boxes and on my shelves.  Projects that I am hankering to get started on.  So many that I don't even know where to start!  I have an online party coming up the week of Oct. 3 so I am in hopes of completing a couple more things for my shop before the party.  Again, wish me luck.

WIP Wednesday 9/21 (and 9/14 catch up)

Last week was so busy away from home, mostly with the Kansas State fair in town, but also it was sewing club week.
Since last Tuesday I've not working on anything but finishing up the rest of the cotton washcloths that I had yarn for. I'm happy to say that I did finally get all of those crocheted.  I also worked on the baby bibs but they won't be completed until I find time to get my sewing machine out again.

I have other projects that I hope to complete over this next week. Wish me luck time wise. I also have order for dish scrubbies that will have me making a total of 36 of those at the moment.

Here is the top of the jelly roll quilt that I was putting together for sewing club at church.

Once I got to sewing club last week I sewed edging material on to the jelly roll to make it a larger size.  I found a bottom material and a middle and pinned them all together.  In this photo one of the other gals in club is working on tieing it.

I just had to share our clubs completed quilt that we are sending to Global Missions.  We also were to choose a 2nd one to send.  We  sent the strip quilt that I did the top on and the other gals finished it up with an edge and brown backing.
This is a Christmas table runner top.  It won't take me long to get the back on it and sewn, it's just a matter of getting it done.
That's it for my report this week.  I can always hope that the busiest of my days is over now for awhile.
